They upped the tempo and were in better condition than we were.
Good 75 minutes for the first team players.
Good effort from the youngsters at the end.

Overall against quality opposition it is clear we need more players in. The youngsters performed well especially Serki but none are EPL standard. We have to get more in before Palace as waiting to the end of the window will reduce our chances of getting off to a good start when the fixture list is in our favour.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I prefer to see us losing and making errors in pre-season. It means we can spot them and address them before the season starts. No point banging in goals against weak sides as it does nothing to improve your team and papers over the cracks you aren't spotting.

We should loan them out to league one clubs, where they should get a start. They are miles of the required standard, today at least. I see no development in Jebbison, just the same lack of general footballing nous compensated by great physical attributes. He really needs a run of games (not for us) to see what, if anything, he's made of.

I just watched the highlights, I thought we were quite good, with Baldock, Ndiaye and Traore to add. We need to wait for our best team to play together. The games are showing very clearly that some players are not good enough.

The complete lack of goals so far in preseason has to be a worry.

Side has no creativity atm - so we really need the 2 decent domestic loans to add some much needed quality.

We’re also no closer to getting rid of the injury curse. Norwood had his face smashed in, flecks came off, mcburnie in a boot, bogle out til Xmas. No sign of RND or Brewster as yet so they will have had no preseason.

Freckleton looked very good
Seriki looked very good. Hopefully it's not a one off but he was quick, skilful, no fear on him. He could be one of those that actually needs to play against better players
Sander was simply gorgeous
Anis looked tight, should fit in nicely
Fleck actually started OK and got involved. I hope the injury isn't serious but long enough that he isn't a default uninspiring choice
Osula was a bit off it today and didn't threaten much.

The lack of goals this preseason is a huge concern. I know it's only preseason but our strikers were missing chance after chance last season but we ended up getting away with it. We won't get away with it next season.

I'm hoping we go full strength on Saturday and see what our best players can do while they are all on the pitch together. Hopefully Traore will get a few minutes too

I get your point about bringing more players in before the season starts. The fact that we are probably looking mostly at loan players, means a degree of patience might be needed.
The club really needs top quality loan players, as proven by the standards achieved by theMan City loanees, and the performances of Clark and Khadra, for very different reasons.
It’s worth waiting for a season of quality 7/10 for the duration of the season, rather than go too quickly for limited PL loans who only produce a 6/10 level forthe whole season.

It’s a very difficult choice to make when the loan opportunities have changed this coming season. PH might want up to 4 players, but he has budget to work to. Results and performances so far are less than ideal, but it could give the manager some ammunition to squeeze a bit more out of the Prince!

I also agree with the more positive outlook from TheGregBlade. We do require an injection of quality, but maybe it’s worth waiting for some top signings.

Doyle and McAtee levels of player are worth waiting for surely? The fact that one arrived early, and one arrived very late from the same club just shows how tough it is to get that level of signing.

We haven't seen anything near our starting 11 play together yet, we haven't seen traore yet, let's not look too much into these meaningless, disjointed mix of youth players and first teamers, derby and Stuttgart will give us more of an idea

Anyway welcome to SUFC. You’ll find real football is very different from “FIFA” or “Champ Man. Please don’t get too worried about pre season. It is largely the same every year. We had some poor results last pre season and finished up strolling to promotion.

Also please note the transfer window doesn’t close until 1st September, so that’s over a month away.

Also please be reassured the management team have been involved in top level football since before you were born, so any ideas about the squad and transfer dealings chances are they’ve already considered them.
