Outgoing? McBurnie

Praying for Swansea to win tomorrow - chance of them buying McKnob & Brewster's Millions. Plus I desperately want to tick off Brentford's new ground on my bucket list.
Conflicted about Lincoln & Blackpool though.
Can't wait to get to some away matches next season - even if the team get hammered it's so entertaining for an old fogie like me to watch the cocaine generation swinging from the stanchions & crowd-surfing , whilst getting equally hammered.
cant see swansea beating brentford but really hope they do could see them making a double bid for mcburnie and brewster stump 40m up and they can have the pair of em for me

Yes, because one PL goal between them in 50 appearances last season just screams "great signings for a PL club".

No PL club in its right mind should touch either of these 2 with a 50 foot pole.

mcburnie could be a decent plan b for a PL club. Agree he should’ve be a first choice anywhere above the championship

the issue with Brewster is we bought him and had zero idea how he played or how to use him. We may as well have set that money on fire. But seems like he suits Swansea’s play a hell of a lot more than he does our formation under wilder.

and you could see Swansea taking a chance on either on the basis they know how to use them and them regaining form

Swansea have spent very little since relegation. That would be an enormous gamble. They won’t do it.

Agreed their newish American owners have been all about downsizing and sustainability. It’s promotion or a summer of significant sales for them. I’d rather they stay down because they won’t be the same force again next year.

As I've said on a number of occasions, within every handful of games he usually has one in which he looks a standout player with the potential to be a real talent at PL level.

The problem is, he then plays poorly in the next four. He's been with us two seasons and has never found consistency. Off the pitch he portrays himself as a lad that lacks focus and you wonder whether he will ever have the mental ability to be the best version of himself.

I'd sell if it meant we could sign somebody of Mitrovic's caliber. If not, I'd give him one more spin in the Championship where he's shown form previously.
Mitrovic’s calibre? Like McB he’s done well in the championship, he’s a very good championship striker, but he’s only scored 3 this season in the PL, playing for a team that creates a fair few chances. Benitez bombed him out of Newcastle because he thought he was a prick, he’s now fallen out with Parker and the last time I saw him play for Fulham, he was berating his teammates constantly. I suspect that, in his own way, he could end up being as problematic as McB. Slav seems to know how to handle him though.

Fair enough, I get your opinion. But mine is based on watching Mitrovic play in the flesh. I just love his physicality & the way he puts himself about. He's my kind of player & I think he'd work brilliantly as a foil for Brewster.
My patience has worn out with McBurnie. He annoys me even more as I know & have seen what he could be. He just doesn't seem to have the head for it & I don't think he ever will.

I’ve seen him play too, that’s why I said he’s a very good championship striker.

Great point!

That was CW flexing his muscles wanting a marquee signing having missed out on Maupay and then Watkins

Like a Middle Aged family man with 4 kids buying a Porsche Boxter - impressive to look at and make you feel good but not really useful in the big picture

If he goes, can we frame a pair and of those little socks and stick it in the trophy cabinet?

I reckon we’ll be stuck with him to the end of his contract. Still baffles me to this day why we bought mcb, I said at the time it felt like going in the wrong direction as he always seemed like an old fashioned kind of attacker whenever I’d see him play, instantly felt like we were going more Burnley than Leicester. Whoever sanctioned 20mil on his signature needs to be asked some serious questions (oh hang on he back doored it before anyone got the chance)

Although maybe that embarrassing chant some were singing jinxed mcb?
He’s our striker, he’s our number 9 (like that’s something to be proud of!!!)
Scoring goals in the red and white (complete lie!)
20mil and he came from Swansea (again is this to be proud of? Ffs don’t advertise what we paid for him!!)

I was told by a reliable source that Wolves had offered £15m, but Utd had said they want more, the only positive is, at least they are interested.

You don't think being our number 9 is something to be proud of ?

well dont blame the united board for trying to get more for mcburnie after years of underselling players but i think 15m for him is a great offer personally i would snatch their hands off

With Jokanovic in charge, if you somehow swapped Mitrovic for McBurnie then it's basically a 23 team league.

To be fair wolves did shell out 35m for a kid nobody had heard of who notched a massive 4 goals in 47 appearances. So her be in good company.

Let's wait and see with mcburnie
He might thrive under slavisa or someone might come in with a bid and take him off our hands

Either way he has too improve on last season ,for me his best games were as a slightly deeper second striker but with mcgoldrick already playing that role we just looked too statuesque up front with both of then playing

I would be genuinely astonished if Wolves or Rangers were interested. Especially at that price. He's a tough one to warm to. He looks so clumsy and uncomfortable I cannot believe anyone scouted him and thought he would be a great addition. The weird thing here, is that your not even talking about a player that was a nailed on starter for a side that finished bottom of the league. His goal return is even more frightening.

Sincerely hope Gerard doesn't come on here.

TBH... he's shite....but with a really strong supporting midfield, he could be slightly less shite.
Your punditry isn't exactly top class, but nobody is constantly berating you for it.

You realise calling professional footballers, (that have also represented their country) "shite" just makes your opinions look 110% ignorable?

I'm unsure when (if ever) some fans will realise what a star studded league the Prem is... Looking a bit out of your depth amongst the world's best, or struggling for form... Definitely does not make you "shite" at football.

I don’t understand the desperation of some to be rid of him. Joint top scorer last season, proven scorer in the Championship. He might not have enough premier league quality, which is a criticism you could level at a few of our players based on last season, but we are a Championship club now so why do people want to offload him at loss?

1 good season does not make u a proven goal scorer ffs

I think it should be more:
Hes our striker he's our number 9
Scoring goals is just a lie
20m an he came from Swansea
And I'd drive him back there all for free
