Bit harsh on Sutton.
You're absolutely right. That's entirely down to old school Football League thinking on my part. So you're still the torch bearers for the clique as the other three members still have bugger all to show for the season.

I've just noticed that Sutton are still involved in the FL2 play-off bun fight, so my last post may be accurate or it may not. Thought I'd mention it before some smart arse pointed it out.:)

See Zac Brunts Dad has been making a tit of himself on Twitter again, to the great annoyance of the majority of the Notts County fan base apparently?

Got to feel sorry for Zac, it’s hard enough to make it without your own Dad muddying the water 🤔

Sutton probably even have a better shout at playoffs than Blades since two of the 3 teams they could catch are playing Exeter and FGR - the top 2 fighting it out for the title.

Incredible that in 2016 three SUFCS were contenders for promotion to the championship, now two of those could start next season two divisions below the SUFC that was at the time plying its trade in the National League South. (apologies Rootshallbloke I imagine you're sick of hearing "who would have thought it eh, Southend in the Conference"-type comments)

It just goes to show just how fickle football can be. Ironically, at the end of last season, one of our then midfielders, Timothee Dieng, moved to Exeter. Timothee fell into the lazy git who wouldn't tackle category, and although a talented footballer none of us were sorry to see him go. This season he has been a revelation for Exeter and their second highest scorer with 13 goals. Why he didn't do that for us is a mystery, as if he had, we may still be in FL2. Anyway, as for 'Southend in the Conference', fuck it, we put ourselves there so no one to blame but ourselves.

The way that things are turning out for Zac at Notts County makes for a sad ending to what was a very promising season on loan for him. What I can say is that our coaching team had nothing but praise for him during his time with us. There is a good player there if used properly.

Sounds like he's been playing a deeper role for Notts County and he's suffered as a result. Where did he play for Southend?

Tucked in behind the front two forwards or mostly a central role at the head of the mids.

Moving him to Notts County was a huge mistake.
It never ceases to amaze me that 'supporters' will rinse a 20 year old still learning his pro trade and doing his best to improve himself and the loan club. It wouldn't be so bad I guess in Notts were a highly successful club, they ain't, they're in the NL, just like Southend, and have been there a lot longer than we have.

Did the Club decide his latest destination, or was it his/his dad's choice? I only ask because the option to come back to us was on offer, which Kacper chose to accept.

Maybe it was the distance? He's from Chesterfield so Nottingham not too far away. Southend is a long way away! Still, obviously not the right match for him and mostly warming a bench isn't going to help his career much.

I reckon the distance would have played a big part in it. The irony is that if we hadn't ended up in an embargo he would have been with us for the season.

But you live in a holiday resort…
And I only live 10 minutes walk from the seafront, which me and her tend to walk along early morning most days. . Lovely though that is, a change of scenery now and again works wonders especially when some of the mutant mockneys are visiting from London. True Essex boy me mate rather than an estuary speak geezer that migrated into the county.

This has popped up on our board today, from our Kitman on Instagram. The reply has got some Shrimpers dreaming and dribbling already with anticipation. I reckon it means he's coming down Sunday for our last home game. Mind you, it's a very long journey to watch us tank Torquay.

Which time was that?
The first time he joined us, then again when charlie was found in his training ground locker during a drug test, and not forgetting when he came out of nick for his part in defrauding an old lady of 20k.

HARRISON Neal will complete his Southend United loan spell with Sunday’s clash against Torquay United. But the popular midfielder – who is with Blues from Sheffield United – has yet to consider his long term future.

Neal has impressed in the centre of the park since signing for the Shrimpers on a temporary basis in January. But he has yet to discuss his plans for next season.
“I’m not sure to be honest about next year and I’ve not really spoken to Sheffield United,” said Neal.

“I’ll go back there and will find out their plans for me but I’ve not really thought about it at the moment.” Neal has made 21 appearances while with the Shrimpers.
And he has thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “I’ve loved every minute here,” said Neal. “The lads have been good and I’ve settled in well. “The management team have been good and the fans have been unbelievable. “It’s been a good second half of the season too. “It’s just a shame we weren’t together from the start because we could’ve been up there. “All in all it’s been good though. “We’ve secured safety and hopefully set good foundations for next season.” But Neal has not finished yet and is keen to end the season a high by beating Torquay in the final outing of the season on Sunday.

“There’s that saying isn’t there about people being on the beach but I don’t agree with that,” said Neal. “All footballers will try and win every game they play.
“We certainly want to win and we want to give the fans something to cheer about in the last game.”

It would appear that Southend are busting their balls and anything else available to get Kacper's signature for next season, be it as a loan or something more permanent. I would image the former would be more likely if were to come off. I'm trying not to get excited at the prospect. And if we could add Neal, well..................... The Kacper news comes from normally reliable sources from within, not Fans board gossip. Make of it what you will Blades.

Unless we’ve made a determination that’s he’s just outright not good enough which would seem odd coming off a successful loan I’d imagine him leaving even on loan will be dependent on our business roots. As it stands we have 3 first team CB’s fit and under contract for next season.

As we play a 3 at the back I’d imagine we’d probably want to recruit another 2 before letting the young lads Lopata or Gordon out the door so keep an eye on our early business I guess. It’s plausible though as looking at his playing time since returning we definitely wouldn’t have recalled him if not for the injury crisis so if the mutual interest is still there why not.

If he has done as well as has been reported, I would guess that the club would want him to be playing at a higher level next season.

Exactly this. But the fact that Southend are pushing suggests they haven't been given a arbitrary Foxtrot Oscar response, so who knows.

Last League game of the season and it was the battle of the seaside towns with Torquay visiting Roots Hall. A typical end of season bun fight which ended all square at 1-1 with us down to 10 men after our skipper Demetriou demolished one of theirs for just being there. The red card was out before he could even protest his innocence, which he wasn't, by the way. So last game for Harrison Neal and it was another all action from that young man and I have to say I don't know where he gets his stamina from as he covered probably every blade of RH grass, had a pile driver of a shot fizz just over the Gull's bar and copped a yellow for the team when Torquay broke away when we were down to 10 men. We will really miss Harrison so we will have to see whether our relationship with the Sheffield Utd management team develops enough and they give him back to us for another season. I should also add that Mr Lopata was also present this afternoon fuelling even more speculation. The thing about speculation is that it can often end in tears, we shall see.

So, apart from any tip bits that may emerge of the subjects of this thread, I shall wish you Northern Blades chappies farewell. Thank you for putting up with my waffle and thank you for your insights into your loanees. Just remember to do the decent thing and stuff Forest on Tuesday evening and then go on to get promoted, you know you want to.;)
