You're absolutely right. That's entirely down to old school Football League thinking on my part. So you're still the torch bearers for the clique as the other three members still have bugger all to show for the season.
Sutton probably even have a better shout at playoffs than Blades since two of the 3 teams they could catch are playing Exeter and FGR - the top 2 fighting it out for the title.I've just noticed that Sutton are still involved in the FL2 play-off bun fight, so my last post may be accurate or it may not. It just goes to show just how fickle football can be. Ironically, at the end of last season, one of our then midfielders, Timothee Dieng, moved to Exeter. Timothee fell into the lazy git who wouldn't tackle category, and although a talented footballer none of us were sorry to see him go. This season he has been a revelation for Exeter and their second highest scorer with 13 goals. Why he didn't do that for us is a mystery, as if he had, we may still be in FL2. Anyway, as for 'Southend in the Conference', fuck it, we put ourselves there so no one to blame but ourselves.

Sounds like he's been playing a deeper role for Notts County and he's suffered as a result. Where did he play for Southend?
Tucked in behind the front two forwards or mostly a central role at the head of the mids.
It never ceases to amaze me that 'supporters' will rinse a 20 year old still learning his pro trade and doing his best to improve himself and the loan club. It wouldn't be so bad I guess in Notts were a highly successful club, they ain't, they're in the NL, just like Southend, and have been there a lot longer than we have.
Maybe it was the distance? He's from Chesterfield so Nottingham not too far away. Southend is a long way away! Still, obviously not the right match for him and mostly warming a bench isn't going to help his career much.
I reckon the distance would have played a big part in it. The irony is that if we hadn't ended up in an embargo he would have been with us for the season.
And I only live 10 minutes walk from the seafront, which me and her tend to walk along early morning most days. . Lovely though that is, a change of scenery now and again works wonders especially when some of the mutant mockneys are visiting from London. Unless we’ve made a determination that’s he’s just outright not good enough which would seem odd coming off a successful loan I’d imagine him leaving even on loan will be dependent on our business roots. As it stands we have 3 first team CB’s fit and under contract for next season.
If he has done as well as has been reported, I would guess that the club would want him to be playing at a higher level next season.
Exactly this. But the fact that Southend are pushing suggests they haven't been given a arbitrary Foxtrot Oscar response, so who knows.
