Zak Brunt and Kacper Lopata

Watched Zak Brunt today at Maidenhead United vs Notts County, he was a sub, came on for about last 15 minutes, had a lot of touches and looked very accomplished, helped create a great goal scoring chance which ultimately only resulted in a free kick on the edge of the box for County. At one point he cleverly nutmegged his man at the byline, did a crunching well timed tackle and passed the ball quickly and well during his brief appearance. Would have liked to see him start but onto the playoffs for Notts County.

Last League game of the season and it was the battle of the seaside towns with Torquay visiting Roots Hall. A typical end of season bun fight which ended all square at 1-1 with us down to 10 men after our skipper Demetriou demolished one of theirs for just being there. The red card was out before he could even protest his innocence, which he wasn't, by the way. So last game for Harrison Neal and it was another all action from that young man and I have to say I don't know where he gets his stamina from as he covered probably every blade of RH grass, had a pile driver of a shot fizz just over the Gull's bar and copped a yellow for the team when Torquay broke away when we were down to 10 men. We will really miss Harrison so we will have to see whether our relationship with the Sheffield Utd management team develops enough and they give him back to us for another season. I should also add that Mr Lopata was also present this afternoon fuelling even more speculation. The thing about speculation is that it can often end in tears, we shall see.

So, apart from any tip bits that may emerge of the subjects of this thread, I shall wish you Northern Blades chappies farewell. Thank you for putting up with my waffle and thank you for your insights into your loanees. Just remember to do the decent thing and stuff Forest on Tuesday evening and then go on to get promoted, you know you want to.;)
Cheers for the info. Even if you don't get any of these lads back, you might get higher priority next season on the next age group that need loan moves.

I just read the tweet you posted again. The kit man was referring to the last game of the season and Lopata said "see you there". He was there and I'm guessing some of your fans have got the wrong end of the stick.
Thanks for all your posts. Wembley looks unlikely to our pessimistic fanbase but should we get there, as you are a respected forum member, we expect you there with us👍

You know that, and I know that, but come on, we're talking football fans here. What would football life be without the eternal belief of serious jam tomorrow? As for Wembley, well at least I wouldn't have too far to travel. Getting a ticket may be a bit more problematic though.

Not so fast! Its been good to have you around here and I hope you will still pop in to say hello from time to time irrespective of whether any of our youngsters are with you next season.

I think that the fact that three of our young players have been loanees to your side, suggests, (to me at least) that the relationship between the two clubs is good, and with that in mind, I can't see any reason why we wouldn't continue doing the same thing with another crop of lads. Our under 23's and under 18's have both had a phenomenal season (I don't think the u18's lost all season?), and we are probably already identifying the lads to send your way.

Enjoy the summer mate.

No luck for poor old Zac last night. He only managed 40 minutes or so (including ET) from the bench and Notts County crashed to fight another season in the NL and the fishy folk of Grimsby march on to the Semi final match. I hadn't really given this league any thought regarding the business end of the season. Now I've seen it all in action the hoops play-off teams have to go through to reach a final is nothing short of disgusting. Why the NL think that is entertainment and good for the Clubs is beyond me.

What hoops are they? The only issue I see is that there are too many sides in the playoffs; cut it to 4 and the format would be borderline perfect. Certainly better than the flat two-legged affairs in the EFL which don't really reward success over the regular season.

And that is exactly the hoops I'm talking about, too many teams.

Keeps the league interesting especially with only two promotion places.

Saw some of last night bit really only focused on Brunt. Clearly got some technical ability. Not sure non/lower league is the best place for him tbh

I reckon you're absolutely right on that. He needs to be with a team that will allow him to expressive himself. He had that opportunity at Southend, but there is a limit on how much he could grow and improve with us. FL2 for him next maybe if your coaching team deems him worth the effort.

I like the NL playoff structure. There’s an advantage to finishing higher up the league either only having to play a single home tie semi final for 2nd and 3rd place or a quarter final home tie for 4th and 5th. I will be cheering on Harry Boyes for my second team Solihull Moors this Sunday against Chessie. You Moors!

I would rather Chesterfield won this one as its another 'big' club potentially out of the NL, and with it, big wages.

Got to be good enough rather than big enough. Looking at the teams that are left. Wrexham and the Moors look the pick of the bunch football wise. Looking at sizes of club I would have thought Wrexham and all their Hollywood glitz would be the biggest fish. Solihull Moors are by far the smallest team. 5,500 sell out for the Chesterfield game. Only been in existence 15 years. However they have a wealthy chairman who is happy to splash the cash.

Despite this lengthy thread, young Harry Boyes is the last Blade standing this season.
Solihull Blade
I see he's scored 5 goals this season which is good for a left back. Any progress reports?

Not been to the Moors as much as I’d like this year. They always seem to play at the same time as United. However I’ve attended around 5 games and always watch their highlights channel. Boyes started the season slowly and shared left defensive duty with Cranston. However he slowly but surely made the left wing back position his own. He’s grown into the role and now is a genuine threat down the left. He’s not shy of a shot and puts in a lovely cross. Moors are a well oiled machine with quick agile forward players. Harry fits in well and looks part of this team. He’s definitely benefited from this loan into men’s football and he’ll come back to us stronger next season. I think he’d benefit from a loan higher up the pyramid next, perhaps in League One but he’s worth a contract extension which of course he’s achieved. Well done Harry.

With Norrington-Davies and Boyes you could argue the future looks pretty bright down that left hand side.

Hopefully Seriki can get a league loan and build himself up on the right though with Bogle and Baldock you could argue he has time. Young Sadgev hasn't looked out of place since stepping up to the U23s either.

Did you go today Solihull Blade? If you did was it any good?

Yep I was one of the 4,000 odd in attendance today. Great atmosphere from supporters who I think would consider Solihull to be, for the most part, their second team. Most people in the area support Birmingham Villa or the Baggies. However Moors were a cut above Chesterfield football wise and despite going a goal behind won at a canter in the end. Solihull play fast passing football which seems to be a cut above most of the rest of the league. They’re only a small poorly supported club but they are certainly where they are on merit. Our Harry had a good game although I think he was maybe out of position for chessies goal. Anyway I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat Grimsby in the final next week.

Good luck to them in the Play-Off final. From a selfish point of view I'd rather Grimsby bugger off to FL2 as our daughter and her partner only live 30 minutes drive from Solihull's ground so a long weekend is in order which would keep my Missus happy!

I see the final is at Wet Spam's ground. Cheap ticket prices as usual!

Our U23s play home games at Chesterfield's stadium. It's bizarre that our young lads are doing well in their League and they aren't loaning any of them.
