Eh? Factorise. GCSE Maths.

(x-3)(x+1)=0
x = 3 or x = -1

Don't buy anything from the Maths Warehouse: you need a tack hammer they'll sell you a pneumatic drill. Bastards.
My mistake. I thought we were just posting random maths so I chose a quadratic equation. I was going to go for calculus but I thought it was a bit ostentatious.

  • ITS STUCK IN THE 90'S, THE MEN ARE ALL BACKWARDS THICK BASTARDS WITH NO STYLE. THE WOMEN ARE ALL DONNY SLAPPERS GETTING SHIT FACED AND THROWING UP ALL OVER THEMSELVES. SMACHEADS AND CRACWHORES EVERYWHERE. ITS A SHIT HOLE. PLEASE TARMAC OVER IT SO WE CAN USE IT FOR A CAR PARK FOR THE NICE CITIES . E.G. SHEFFIELD.
Taken from a quote on facts about Doncaster.:p
I was born and raised in Sheffield but I fail to see how anyone from Sheffield can slag Donny off. In the last 18 months or so, I’ve been to Donny town centre 4 or 5 times for shopping and stuff and it’s miles better than the 1970’s dump that is Sheffield city centre. Typical of the city centre and the council, they’ve got a ‘fairground’ on Fargate this week meaning that one of the nicer parts of the city centre is thronged out with chavs and lowlife.

The turnout for the Donny game is far more impressive than the man Utd game if you ask me. Surprised we've sold so many given the current mood, Well done lads and lasses. Let's hope the team repay the remarkable faith and loyalty shown with a win. Looking forward to it now for some strange reason

Got to keep the kids happy:)

You're obviously going to a different Donny than I go to!

I for one am still looking forward to it. As a Doncaster lad born and bred, I've always looked forward to playing them but somehow never attended the away game. I have a lot of mates who are Donny fans and fortunately we've always done alright against them. However, I'm pretty worried this time.

That said, we're heading up from London early, day out in Donny, night out in Donny and free accommodation at my Mum's, so days out don't get much cheaper. I'm also seeing two mates who I haven't seen in ages.

Don't ruin the day for me Blades, I expect a performance, even if you don't win.

Blimey, a 'glory' supporter! ;)

Looks like ~3100 sold.

Thanks for that.

For me another indicator that there's a while wide world out there who have their own opinions on the team.
I'd love to ask those going to the game, what opinions they'd have on the team but I'd be wasting my breathe. Can someone please ask the chosen one, someone of whom he sometimes agrees with? Cheers!

How is it rose tinted?

OP was less than 1500. So far it's >3000.

Statement was: There's an outside world.

Statement was not: There's an outside world...who think we'll hammer them.

(Maybe OP was a variation on the eternal 14000 crowds next season post.)

People have their own reasons for turning up. But, for now, they turn up.

Loud or deeply held opinions positive or negative are not necessarily representative opinions.

Well it's 'rose tinted' because Doncasters 25 miles up the road and as such gives a positive misrepresentation of supporter satisfaction.

The day we take 4,000 fans to Southend or Colchester away, then I will be happy to accept it as an indication that the fans are happy with the teams style of play, endeavours and results, but not when they'll be back in Sheffield before 6pm

Two important away games in the space of 4 days which will probably shape Adkins' future at the club in McCabe's eyes.

Will be there on Satdi. Sheffield Tap early on the to the Dive Bar in Donny. Hopefully i will be sozzled enough by the time I get to the game not to let any apathy effect my support. :)

But for work I would have been there with you

:(

Have one for me ;)

Seem to remember last season we were also on a bad run before the Donny game and few expected us to win it. We didn't dominate the game, but stole the points. These things do happen (most recently at Colchester)

I'm not taking it as evidence of anything other than the existence of a world outside the forum.

OP said 1500 I take this to mean we're crap therefore numbers will decline (from 4200 last season).

Alternatives:
  • we're crap but I'm going anyway
  • I've seen much worse, I'm going
  • we need to pick up wins maybe we'll ditch the cagey style and open up - I'm going
  • my lad wants to go
  • if I didn't go I'd be in Meadowhall
  • there's a great museum in Donny
  • what you on about we're going to win five of our next six and draw against Burton
And all sorts of other reasons.

Not many think everything is rosy at the club but there do appear to be big differences in how to react to the situation.

As the OP yes I mean we're crap and will affect away support. Perhaps it will show more at grounds further away.

Maybe I'm a fair bit older than you and become less tolerant of "false promises" from chairman and turgid performances ??

Apologies WHF, I may be confused, but are you now arguing with yourself?

Just to clarify, my point simply remains, given its close proximity to Sheffield, attendance at an away game in Doncaster, Sth Yorkshire, should not be regarded as a reliable barometer of supporter satisfaction or dissatisfaction either?

And you don't work for the club.

Well I am really looking forward to it, not least because Saturday is no less than my 50th birthday, a notable milestone. *Raises bat to all four sides of the ground*

Not just that though, I will be attending with my new woman, no less than the wonderful Helen who first met me at Toddington Services, picking me up on my way to Scunny just before Christmas.

The only other match she's attended was a Sunderland game, the team the father of her child supported, the now sadly departed Dickie Hammond (guitarist in Leatherface and The Toy Dolls amongst others). She slept for 90 minutes that time.

She apparently finds my watered-down Sheffield accent sexy so has warned me that she might not be responsible for her actions when surrounded by 4000 of Sheffield's finest. Tha knows.

Don't think so.

I think I've basically said the same thing three times, here it is again:

I'm not taking it as evidence of anything other than the existence of a world outside the forum.

OP said 1500. I took this to mean: "I don't feel like going therefore large numbers will not go," ie 1500 down from 4200.

Turns out >3000 are going. Which I take to mean people have their own reasons for going based on things outside what gets talked about on here.

Further the emphasis and exposure of views, positive or negative, is possibly not representative of what real people think out in the big wide world.

Even I'm excited now! What clothing should I be looking out for, is it the clothing that gets chucked towards the front of the away end :D

Either that or you're comparing it to a different Sheffield city centre than the one I work in.

Perhaps you are both living in an alternative reality.

Tell me something - are the blades playing well and storming the league?

Fuck off!

I didn't say that, my alternative reality persona said it so ban him. In his defence, he is a bit pissed off that Real Madrid have just beaten the Blades 1-0 in the Champions League final to halt our record run of 12 wins in a row. That's Mourinho looking for a new job then. He doesn't like faliure, the owner... Bill Gates.

Don't forget to drop the word "with" and replace it with "wi" and drop the word "my" and replace it with "mi", as in "a remember coming here once wi mi dad"

Don't forget gee'or

Don't forget gee'or

I think t'owd Greenwich should save "gee'or" and use it as a secret weapon Sean.

Let's just pretend the match is over and the Blades have won, Greenwich walks out of the ground, arm-in-arm with his girlfriend, both smiling, she turns and says , "bet you enjoyed watching that!", then kisses him on the cheek, he pretends to start blushing, acts all shy and says "gee'or". Her heart melts. Job done!

I think he should go for some dirty talk.

If Donny nearly score, he should look deep into her eyes and say
'Nah then, I bet tha shit thee sen there'

Apologies William Henry Foulkes , I may be confused, but are you now arguing with yourself?

Just to clarify, my point simply remains, given its close proximity to Sheffield, attendance at an away game in Doncaster, Sth Yorkshire, should not be regarded as a reliable barometer of supporter satisfaction or dissatisfaction either?

But that was exactly the point of the OP. When WORKSOPBLADE thought there would be only 1500 going it was 'another apathy marker'. Now when 4,000 are expected to travel (as per official site), it cannot be used as any sort of barometer? We must now apparently wait for an away game much further afield e.g. Southend to say 'yer see no one is bothered'.

As Fatty rightly points out there is a whole wide world of differing opinions out there rather than on here where it appears folk are tripping over each other to rubbish the club and everything about it, including now it seems the support?

I'm confused? o_O
