Nonsense we are deffo weaker without Anel/Vini and Moore.

We have to wait and see but on the face of it they are our three tallest players.

We are going to be a Nigel Clough team who can’t defend set pieces if we don’t acknowledge this.

Soumaré should bet off with Souza.

It’s a question then if it’s Bindon or a new guy that settles us against the loss of Anel.

There is no arguing about it we are weaker than last season.
While the glass half full brigade will say the window is still open the first game of the season is just 5 days away.
We have one right back who's young and prone too injury. We are selling our best centre back and are left with a young centre half on loan Robinson and young Baptiste.
Plus the fact we are not really linked with paying any fees for players makes me in the glass half empty brigade with regards to our new owners.

They have huge income streams because Ryan & Rob promoted the hell out of them from day one. Squeezed every bit of publicity out of them they could and still are.
We have a highly successful Hollywood producer as an investor and a guy on the board who's an expert in managing sports franchises and we haven't heard a peep out of any of them.

2 striker? Who are we bringing in knowing they are behind Campbell and Cannon? We do that we will end up where Wednesday are.

We won’t get 2 CB either. We’ll get a RB who can also play centre back and a replacement for Anel. This is what we had the start of last season with Souttar and Gilchrist. The 4th choice centre back will hardly play.

It sounds like we will also get the Everton lad.

We do need depth but the way I see this panning out is as per below:

RB:

Trade is the key point.

We can’t be just slowly dismantling the squad over time and replacing with loans and AI stuff.

As I’m trying to advocate as much to myself, we should wait until the window is done before we evaluate how good our policy is.

At present we have 3 first line centre backs and it’s clear that most would prefer Robbo as back up or replaced. Yes we have RND and he might be ok in Cup games unless he can prove he is fully over his injury. Sasnauskas and Baptiste seem a way off for now.

Like it or not, we started last season with Anel as our best defender, Vinny as our first choice midfielder and Moore as our starting striker. We could well have removed the lot.

There has to be some movement the other way. We need an excellent first choice centre half bringing in if Anel goes and we’ll have to pay for it.

Someone like Abdoulaye Ndiaye from Troyes. Was on loan at Brest in the division above. Left footed, 1.96m, rated at 4m on Transfermarkt.

Alternatively we could pull a bit of a shithouse move and ask Spurs to cancel Phillips’ loan and buy him outright. He hasn’t played for Stoke yet in competition. Spurs May need Stoke’s consent and it may depend if there is a break clause but if the player also expresses the desire then it might change things.

Just gone to Parma in Serie A for 6.5m Euros. Not convinced given we are not top flight that he would have chosen us if they were in for him.

Sort of profile we should be into. I like that giant Touré but he got a bad injury. He’s over 2m and plays for Lorient.

The year before was the complete opposite.
I just fear if we get off to a bad start confidence will dip and the natives will get restless.

Im pretty confident we will be all set by the time the window closes but it was my one wish under these new owners that we wouldn't shop this way

The years of the prince not having the money to run the club properly have got us relying on loans and duct tape.

Unless I am forgetting something We’ve only signed 3 permanent centrebacks since 2019/2020. (Robbo, Anel and trusty)

There has been no succession plan in any position. And CB has been neglected more than most

My hope is that a ‘clean wage bill’ with no Souza, Anel, Brewster, Moore might allow us to look to make some sensible additions with an eye to what the team might look like in 2/3 years.

I don’t mind the new board trying to find some diamonds in the rough from obscure leagues but it would be good to find two hungry young players in the burrows / cooper mould to contribute now.

If you could get 5/6m for anel and spend it on the CB equivalents of a cooper and burrows you suddenly look very shrewd
