That's a bit wild. Buying low and selling high works for all sorts of things in life, including football players, as we've seen a thousand times in the modern game!

No guarantees obviously.

There have always been some question marks over Anel's consistence and ability to step up. Importantly we'd lose him for free next summer unless he signs a new deal.

I'm happy for him to sign a new contract, I like him, but we've all been assuming that isn't going up happen.

Robo is not the villain myth and bedwetting has made him out to be recently.

Yes he’s made a few high profile gaffs and is prone to being wrong footed but he’s been a good sevent to this club. Let’s have a bit of respect and be a bit more objective. At this level he’s a decent player and obviously seen by subsequent managers as a leader on the pitch.

It’s his final year of his contract and probably his career and doesn’t need bladybladebladness negative jumping on the bandwagon. I’ve been critical when he’s made mistakes but hopefully I’ve been respectfully angry.
Couldn’t agree more

Agree the timing is far from ideal, however we'll take someone else's CB off them and their fans will be moaning the timing is terrible too, just how it is .
Even Newcastle, " the world's richest club" having their star poached a week before their season , no club is immune from it .

The transfer window is a game of musical chairs , hopefully when the music stops we have all the places filled .

I’m inclined to agree with Captain Obvious. The timing of this is awful. We need another centre back in now. It’ll then take time to create a partnership. Personally I thought Anel was one of the best CB in the division, great in the air, composed in the ball and chipped in with some crucial goals in the past. It’s a shame, but we’ve probably doubled our money. 20+ million raised so far this window and some big wages off the bill.
Creating a centre back partnership takes months anyway because they also need to develop a relationship with the keeper, full backs etc. Bindon is going to be one of the starters so you were going to have to start this build anyway. It doesn't really make a huge difference so long as his partner is brought in within the next few weeks.
At this stage last season Souttar wasn't in the building, neither was Gilchrist, or Cooper and it went onto to be the tightest defence up until Christmas.
Souttar and Anel didn't start a game together until September and it was the first game we started had Cooper, Gilchrist, and Burrows alongisde them too, and they went on to keep 6 consecutive clean sheets.

He's shite

Sometimes you don't have a choice in timings.

We can't turn it down, we've tried to offer him to half of Europe. It's not our fault Feyenoord have come in this close to the seasons start.

That’s a brilliant quote and so accurate.

We all agree that defence is easily our weakest area….so it seems weird that we’ve gone and weakened it further.
Obviously we have a few irons in the fire regards bringing in new defenders, just hoping it works.

We've lost key players before a season has started and gone on to have good seasons. Thinking in years gone by Andy Gray or D.Brooks for instance.
But usually it doesn't bode well to lose too many key players.

However can't help but feel we are at a very small knife edge. We don't want any other key players to get twitchy. (Hamer, Cooper, Burrows or even Campbell)
And we are low in numbers in defence in particular. I'd want another in at RB and feels like we will need 2 cbs with Anel leaving.

If Moore goes you feel like we need another striker too.

Feels like an unknown to start this season. Can't say I feel optimistic of anything above 5th or 6th and it will get harder after this season too.

It’s v frustrating to be in this position but it does make sense to wait until we know if Anel is going before replacing the back line. He’s a fairly unconventional CB & if he’s sold, I think we have more flexibility regarding the type (of hopefully 2 players) we bring in.

Robbo & Bindon are the starting CB’s.

It puts a lot of pressure on Baptiste & Sasnausks, if they get suspended, or injured.

Not counting RND, he’s perpetually injured.

We all thought at the start of the window 2 CB’s were needed. Maybe now it’s 2 & another loan, to allow Baptiste & Sandusky’s to develop with u21…

Selling Anel - whilst for a reported €14 mill is great profit for someone in the last year of contract - it is a concern that we have not been proactive in the window so far.

Evidence is the preseason games, we are more attack-minded & it’s been exciting, but we’ve been too open defensively, which will be a concern. Last season, we were solid defensively for the most…

Realistic replacements?

Rob Holding
Chris Mepham
Joe Worrall
Dael Fry
Jephet Tanganga

Leeds have brought in 2x CBs to add to Ampadu, Struijk and Rodon. Would Rodon be available?

It’s makes sense for him to leave prior to contract running down. It’s the way of the world today and makes good sense from a business viewpoint.
Hopefully some of the money will be used for a replacement.
If you look at all the computer predictions etc we are not favourites for promotion and according to some will miss out on play offs.
We have a young team and possibly this season is all about building for next season

No problem with selling him, I think he’s been on a declining trajectory for a couple of years. Looks weaker and slower than he did when he first signed, his ceiling is the Championship.

The timing is terrible though and if they intended on selling him, why haven’t they recruited another CB before now?! We have about 10 CM but now only 2 CBs and 1 of them is a bomb scare, wtf are they doing.
Getting the right target in, don't get me wrong I want us to sign players, especially as replacements for departing players.

But I want us to sign the right players, even if that comes at the cost of taking a bit longer.

As frustrating as it is, we're going to have to get used to the lack of leaks coming out of the club as they appear to be trying to run a tight ship in regards to information.

Bindon signed without any leaks at all, both Soumare and Barry links came from reputable sources and were soon confirmed by Selles.

Yet for all these rumours linking Hamer and Cooper with moves away, they've all gone quiet, both players are still here and Selles has mentioned more than once that they are part of his plans and are happy to stay.

I would suggest Doyle at left centre back but you can’t have two. If you have two rights and 2 lefts and the 2 rights get injured it doesn’t quite work with 2 lefties, not that I am against lefties 🤣

Better now than the day before the window closes. We still have more than 3 weeks to replace him 🤷🏼‍♀️
This is now the whole trickle down effect ramping up.

As mentioned, we’ll fuck some other poor sod’s season up by taking their player and so on.

Let’s not pretend Bristol City will be the finished article either.

They lost a decent right back to Birmingham and haven’t replaced him.

Not saying they're at all reliable but OPTA are predicting we go up as champions!

The club are on it.

Bettis has sent out two undercover window shoppers with the brief find me two centre backs.

All they got so far is a bunch of flowers and a couple of bread sticks.

Useless gits.

Ah …………..it’s all ok.

I can see 5 loans and 3 frees sticking out his shopping bag
