I understand people having reservations about him, but struggle to see how sure some are that he will be poor. Do they always know how our signings will do? I certainly don't.

He's got great attacking attributes and is a bit different to our other forwards. Starting, and being kept on at Arsenal shows there was always talent, but he wasted too long there going on various loans. He seemed to find his feet in Greece and was superb last season. We'll have to see if he's a late bloomer, or a one season wonder. In any case I'd be quite excited to see if it would work out for him here.

I think it was a mistake not signing him. Great age, good price, very solid bet.

Anyway, on Akpom... started out as a CF and then dropped into a second striker role playing off Archer.
Seemed to do really well at both.
Scores most of his goals from good deliveries from wide. Do we have players that can feed that? We know Baldock isn't that guy. Larouci? Berge?

Honestly, if the price is ÂŁ8m then I'm not sure we can complain. We're going to have to take some gambles and 29 goals and POTY in the Championship last season should provide some assurance that he has it in him.
PH and co. have rarely not got the best out of players and if this is his no.1 target for the position, someone he'll know a lot about, then I'd be inclined to trust him on it.

Gives us a bit more power and mobility at the top of the field, which we will need. Hopefully sign someone like Archer to play up there with him.

*I do understand the Leon Clarke comparisons though and I'm not ignoring them. I just don't think we'll get much better at this ÂŁ8m sort of price-point.

Watching the video , for me it’s not just the number of goals he scored but also the manner in which he took them .

In the majority he showed great positional sense and timing and didn’t even take a first touch , just a simple accurate first time strike and job done . Impressive .

He has all the attributes we are missing from last season.

Has the pace the power the trickery to get by defenders, we saw it at the lane he took 1 touch boom straight in the bottom corner no messing around.

Unless you have world class talent like Haaland and Kane and you have the service to back it up nothing is gifted in this. League.

It’s a very option for him to sign the deal that boro offer he will be happy after last year.

It will all come down to what we can offer him with premier league football being one

50k per goal bonus, even if he nets 10-20 that's still only an extra 500k-1mill

Probably too abstract for Sheffield United to think like that tho.

Even on Tillmans loan we could offer him something similar personally on top of his loan deal.

Problem being that we are in the constraints of a very strict budget and the prince isn’t putting anything in
 
Had a look on a Boro forum (ashamed to say! 🤣) There’s no talk of a new deal, only speculation on what would be the best strategy for the club (sell and re-invest or offer more money) much like we talked about with Ndiaye.
Then there’s a lot of squabbles (shit board, pure recruitment etc) much like what we do on here too! 🤣
