We missed out to 2 teams this season

Burnley for the league, a team that has spent £38m
Man City in the FA cup, say no more

We’ve done that by spending £4m on a unknown lad from Malmo who had just been relegated with Bordeaux

Sometimes you have to acknowledge what the management team have done - the embargo/takeover noise, coping with injuries, keeping lads engaged despite contract expiring, calming them when boro closed in

It takes a big man to admit they’re wrong, be happy to acknowledge your misgivings👍

Once we have ignored the idiocy of the OP there was a serious question by a majority of fans when Hecky got a long term contract after Slav.

That being said we had such a strong team I felt an average manager who didn’t want to bring “their own style of play” could put us in the promotion picture.

However

Our team then tried to self implode with financial issues, training ground issues and injury issues.

Looking back at this season I think we can all agree Heckingbottom has over achieved and based on the last 2 seasons has shown himself to be a very good championship manager.

I’d be more than happy for Heckingbottom to do a farke if we go down I’d like him to have the chance to go back up.

Not a knee jerk reaction, we have been shit for ages, but getting the rub, his inability to pick in form players, his reluctance to drop underperforming players, his turgid tactics and inability to change a game is utterly baffling and he will become one of the biggest embarrassments, not just in our history but in football if he successfully snatches defeat from the jaws of victory which now looks nailed on. Well done for whatever cock put him on a 5 year contract too, only we can be so fucking short sighted and stupid
Visionary post.

Promoted with 4 games to go

Potentially the best season statistically since WW2

FA Cup semi finalists

Close on a sell out every week

He's done a shit job, we should have got rid

I was beginning to be on the fence with Hecky when we were a couple games in to our 'blip' and Boro were sniffing round our 2nd place. He seemed to refuse to change his starting line up, insisting we stick the veterans like Norwood and Fleck over the City lads. I think it was the Blackburn cup win (if I remember correctly but could be wrong) that seemed to spark that change and since then we've been on a run of good form with the older lads starting on the bench and the younger lads getting the match underway.

I think had he not realised that change was needed we would have very likely dropped the autos and ended up in the playoffs. That's by no means a pop at those older lads but they are simply that, they've served the squad well over the years and even now they're doing a great job seeing the last 10-15 mins out sealing wins.

Biggest positive for me with Hecky even over Wilder was him realising that a change was needed and he wasn't too stubborn to admit it.

It’s football. It’s passion. All those slagging off Stevo obviously have no passion.

League title for one...... would have also been nice to be in the FA cup final

💯

To get to the top you have to be confident in your opinions. accepting you were wrong by dropping established players like Norwood & Fleck for 2 young loans is exactly the right thing to do, and respect to him
As you say wilder was so stubborn, the first prem season went to his head, he did himself out of his dream job by digging in on signings and not changing it

Hitler was also “passionate” around his views, didn’t mean he wasn’t a twat

I don’t think most on here griefing him have an issue with Stevo’s opinion from a few months ago, passions were riding high as the pressure came on top

More his inability to put his hands up and say “fair play, got a bit giddy and spaffed a load of shite, top lad Hecky”

Not difficult, respect NC🙏

From the soundings so far why would a manager change work before the season starts.
I do despair at some of our fans at times

What is clear though is that I think it would be better all round if no one posted anything on here from the start of the season and then only put something on at the end of the season when the results are in and we can all be 100% sure of ourselves with that little thing called hindsight. All experts aren't we with a large dose of hindsight? Tbh, I thought PH nearly fucked it up for himself with his stubbornness in sticking with the old and tired midfield (Fleck and Norwood). Luckily for all concerned it seems the penny finally dropped abd he started Doyle and McAtee at Sunderland the next match and we never looked back. It was a close call though and it was closer than it should have been at that stage. But as far as some on here are concerned, the SUFC manager is clearly always right...🙄

Well we’ll wait and see but I think he has the potential to be a very good Premier League manager.

He’s very tactically astute and he knows how to get the best out of his squad. He’s assembled a great back up management team and has the respect of all the players, from young to well established.

He also doesn’t get mardy and call out the players publicly if he feels they’ve under performed, so keeps their respect.

I loved Wilder when he was here that first season back in the top flight, but given the choice now, I’d have Heckingbottom every time.

I tune out, when football experts allow us the privilege of sharing in their football wisdom, but then call it 'The Premiership'.
