Except I don't know the answer!

Rummaging through some old photos and found some of the 'old' BDTBL. Hope somebody can help with narrowing down the date.

It's 'stitched' from 3 photos in Photoshop, so there may be a lack of continuity on the pitch (no change there...)

I can upload to a web page if you want a bigger view/want to print (it's 33.5 x 8.6 cm @ 100%)

Yep, put a larger photo up somewhere.

Bottom left hand corner are the A, B, C Ds for the halftimes.

I wanna see if the Pigs are losing

Go on then give us a linky to a larger image.
Good pic of the ground before JS was ripped out.

I would have said Bassetts first full season, so 1988 - 89 in the current division.

Big Fences up so pre Hillsboro, could be Vs Brighton

Not Brighton, going for Vs Huddersfield, March 1989

Doubt it, Worksop. Hillsborough disaster was April 1989, so deffo. after that.

Here's summat I dug up IF it's v. Brighton. (Charles Clark, Stanley Tools, Travel Woodcock ads. behind BL goal tie in).

:hello: I can see myself! Next door to the old tunnel that the ball boys would come out from.

From the state of the pitch i think we can safely say it's early in the season.

We played Brighton at home on 9th Sept '89, could be that one. 5-4, Dazzler will be along shortly to fill in the gaps ;)

Incidentally, we won 2-0 away at Oldham that promotion winning season :)

Think we're getting closer! Deano, Gannon & Bryson can be seen in my original pic., the pitch looks in the same nick, post-Hillsborough fences would have been up in Sept. 1989. Sun must have made a fleeting appearance when I took the pics.

Its definitely the Brighton game on 9th Sept 89 and what a classic game that was...

The lime green classic shirt had not gone on sale at this point then?

It had been available for a few weeks.

I cannot remember when i bought mine during that season. That game was fantastic though.

Looking at it again, it must be pretty early on in the game as the HT score board shows the score as 0-0 and Bob Booker gave us the lead after abot 10-15 mins as I recall.

Had me confused looking at the larger version until I read the above, could see about 15 a side and several officials!

Yes the bigger picture confused me as well for several seconds - two lino's on far side and two Brian Deane's.
We were 3-1 up then Brighton scored 3 goals (Paul Wood got at least two - we signed him soon after) then we came back with two more to finish 5-4 with the winner from Fancis Joseph I seem to recall.

Do you know the attendance? (looks pretty thin) and was it the Third Division?

Anyway, thanks all. Now where's that one with Bill Punton in it...?

We were actually 3-0 up in about 30 mins (Booker, Deane , Francis). Paul Wood got one back just before HT and half way through the 2nd half Brighton were 4-3 ahead (Wood getting another one). Bryson equalised with a pen about 10 minutes from time and John Francis got the winner with a flying header in the last minute.

Francis Joseph had left for Gillingham the previous Feb :-)

2nd Division. Att was 12,653 (I did look that up!) and that win put us top of the division as we had taken 10 points from our first 4 games. We stayed top until Dec when Leeds overtook us and then we stayed 2nd all season except for one awful week in mid April when Newcastle overtook us and it looked like we might end up in the play offs.

Of course it was John Francis, thanks Dazzler - I meant to say John Francis but my brain is getting fuddled again and it came out Francis Joseph - the names are close though - except Joseph was a much bigger unit.
