How much do you think our transfer budget is for next season?

Wilder has already said “don’t expect any marquee signings”.

Also how many first team players do you reckon we will get?

I don’t think they’ll be any big first team signings due to covid. I think we will get some cover players and only get first team starters, if we lose a big name to another team.

Here we fucking go again...

Wilders budget will also be affected by any sales he makes

If no club is interested in who he wishes to move out, then I guess a really low budget. He manages to move a few on, then welcome Messi :p

cant find the tweet now. Think it was Andy Giddings interview with CW. Said something like we won’t be signing any big name players.
I think he meant players with a lot of letters in their names as it is too expensive to out them on the shirts

We have to let the board decide where we want to finish. All clubs in the Pl will spend 60m+ etc if we don’t compete they will get better at a quicker than us.

As fans we have to be realistic I believe we will spend a little nothing major. Maybe £20m or so. Which shows our ambition isn’t to build on this season but to consolidate and hope CW works wonders.

Wilder always says the budget is low. He always says 3 or 4 signings and ends up with 7 or 8. Read nothing into it, it’s all bluff.

This^^^

He’s not going to raise fan expectations in case transfers don’t come off nor is he going to inflate the prices of our targets by suggesting we have a large budget.

He’s playing his cards close to his chest, nothing to worry about, much stronger negotiating position if we say we have a small budget

Think you're spot on there. Now we're not going to be in Europe also, we arguably don't need to retain as many, not that we were in Europe this season obviously, but we've got more cover than we arguably need if we wish to improve also, certain fringe players may well be surplus to requirements. For example, I don't think we need all three of Osborn, L Freeman and Jack Robinson, I would imagine Freeman may well leave and doesn't need to definitely be replaced.

On the right if we sign a right sided centre back who can play RWB then both Jags and Freeman won't be needed, and I expect they'll both leave anyway. If we sign Swift, we won't need Lundstrum as much, Berge can play right sided centre mid also. Up top we won't need both the Moose and Robinson and I would guess we'll be signing a new forward more of their mould and they both may go.

Guess it all depends who wants to go and play more football, and what offers we get. I hope for Luke Freeman's sake that he goes and plays more, it feels like a waste of talent with him.

Think he said that last year too. In terms of the “premier league” won’t be big names but for us I’d say anyone over £10m is a big signing

Agree with all of that apart from the pacy striker option. I think we need two for that position - hopefully a reinvigorated Moose and one other. That would free up Robinson to leave. Wilder was looking at Mason Holgate in January to cover RWB and RCB so we know he's been thinking along the same lines. That's gone now I think as Ancelotti sees to rate him.

Problem with keeping Moose is that we may need to sell the Moose to bring in a decent replacement, from a budget perspective. I'm not convinced on Zivkovic, based on how little pitch time he got, surely we don't want to sign him if we've hardly used him!

Mason Holgate's definitely out of the equation now, think he's even been mentioned for an England call-up recently.

He just meant players with long surnames. Don’t expect Ibrahimovic.

Money may well come into the equation unfortunately. I'd rather risk one good one not getting injured, than two average players who we'll want to move on this time next year. The length of the deals for Didzy and Sharp also rang alarm bells for me: if the club were certain they had the resources to fund striker acquisitions, I feel they may have drove a harder bargain over contract length. That's obviously just guesswork though. I'm not convinced on Zivkovic either for the reasons you state.

Spending money does not necessarily equate to being better. Ask Fulham.

I agree but I can also ask Man Utd / City / Chelsea / Leicester / Wolves / Tottenham and they’ll say if you keep spending money eventually you’ll get it right.

It’s easy to use an example where it implodes. But money in this division is still 90% of it all.

The Prince is a good guy who has kept his promises thus far.
But it's not his fault that he doesn't have immense wealth to throw at the Club.
We have to accept that we are financially "poor" in a PL of rich clubs.
So we are dependent on our actual earnings for player investment.
So squad improvement by acquisition is going to be incremental.
We have to hope that existing players will develop with us.

I agree with everything you’ve said. Although the is poor in terms of PL funds he did spend £60m last year which for us as a club I believe is a good amount.
The pit fall of Covid is some chairman will bridge the gap financially others won’t. The ones that don’t will end up towards bottom of the table.
