I like trains.

You say "constant moaning" - What the actual fuck have the club done recently to be positive about? lol.

They’ve done loads to be positive about.

We’ve kept all our best players, everyone has been insisting for the past 2 years we’ll sell Hamer, they said he’s the best player in the Championship and we always sell our best players. However we showed massive ambition to keep him.

We’ve paid massive wages on players in the past we’d dream about like Ben Godfrey and Kalvin Phillips.

Tanganga was rated as one of the best defenders in the league. Millwall fans were furious when they sold him for big money ti a rival.

The owners made a mistake trying to change the culture of the club using a young modern coach but it’s quite incredible when any owners can admit they were wrong and they brought Wilder back, returning to the old culture that worked.

Last 2 seasons we’ve been paying out some of the biggest salaries in the league investing much of the parachute money into the playing squad.

We’ve lost our parachute money so aren’t allowed to spend big money anymore and must reduce the budget. However Wilder has a good record at dealing with players brought in at the cheaper end of the market.

Brooks wasn’t a 1st choice for us, so receiving £8 million looks good business, however he had high potential, so who knows if he’ll end up being better or worse. Time will tell.

Creative? The kid had 2 assists. Pretty sure Brugge offered 5mil last season so to get double that is a good amount even if the club is in the same league or not.
Did you watch him play? He was one of the best in his position in the league. 22 years old with 2 years on a contract.

And regardless of the opinion of him as a player, the whole situation sets alarm bells ringing about the competency of valuing and managing our playing assets.

With these big changes Wilder mentioned at the end of the season are actually going to turn out to be big changes, especially if we're willing to sell Brooks for 8-11mil to a team in the same league.
We all know Wilder can talk the talk, but a lot of the time it's just all fart no shit, but after the Brooks sale I was more optimistic than pessimistic which may seem crazy, cause Wilder is finally wiping his arse 😂

And I know we haven't even had any links to signings apart from Phillips which is a bit depressing but the Brooks transfer came from nowhere really, added with the possibility of new formations, the new coaching staff and getting shut of the deadwood and even rated players that won't fit this new system.

I find it quite exciting really, but maybe that's me trying to cheer myself up of the inevitable 19th placed finish with Cannon top goal scorer with 4.

They received £20m + for their best player so have the funds. Think we're overrating Brooks. Would love to see Femi in that roll.

He isn't worth 15million and isn't "English" in the football sense anymore, he declared for Jamaica and played for them so that wiped off any English tax on his transfer fee.

Maybe we have a sell on fee that tops it up if Norwich do sell him for more. 🤷‍♂️
The "English tax" is nothing to do with declared international allegiance and everything to do with homegrown player status for squad registration purposes. Nothing has changed for Brooks in that sense.

I can see the argument that we've undersold but to be perfectly honest, £8-10m is probably relatively good value for a 22 year old Championship winger with one decent season behind him. The problem is the optics of selling an academy graduate and a player with the potential to be one of our best this season to a rival.

The way you think all doom and gloom shall we sell all the players because according to you everything is being done the wrong way
Remember the club is owned by some Americans who will sanction whatever they want and if Chris doesn't agree he is only the manager not financially involved just a paid(well paid) employee
I really don't think that the owners are hell bent on ruining this club of ours thay have too much money involved
Brooks was good but certainly not all of the time I have no doubt that there is all ready a plan formulated and costed
Cheers and UTB
More or less nobodies good all the time its a human flaw - do you think Barca are shitting themselves after forking out 75/80 million or whatever on Gordon

You have done nothing but moan since the start of the covid season in 2020 which came straight after one of our best ever seasons. I remember you slating Hecky as a terrible manager and that he should fuck off. That was not long before we got promoted I believe. You should go follow Man City

Lets see the comments.

I just want to say i am very jealous of those of you putting a positive spin on selling one of our best young players to a rival. I admire your glass half full mentality and wish I shared it. If you could bottle it and sell it you would be rich men!

This was you with about 10 games left of a season we finished 2nd, 11 points clear of 3rd and were in the top 2 from about November onwards. But oooh performances weren't good enough for Dane.

Utterly ridiculous comments and basically a copy and paste job from your boring Wilder stuff.
Now lets see another one. I seem to have made so many of them.

Wilder should’ve walked a long time ago.

Brooks sale is unforgivable, especially to another championship club - fucking Norwich? Surely a prem club would’ve paid £8m for Brooks? I can’t see how Norwich is an upwards move? Sideways at very best. Good luck Brooks’s, you’re gonna need it.

But yeh, I’m not as positive as most. Like others have said, Wilder is rigid, tactically non-existent and can’t spot changes where changes need to be made.

However, will reserve further judgement until the window has closed, then again at 10 games in to see if the back room and playing staff changes are working because I really do think he’s not got much time.
If a PL club was interested he’d have signed for them. Can’t get away from the fact that Norwich were the only ones who bid the cash.

I enjoyed Brooks and Seriki together last year. We weren’t a good team though.

If at the end we are a more effective unit then just like when I didn’t want us to sell David Brooks, it was the right move in the end.

I've made my point. Not going to post 6 years of quotes. You must read that back and realise how silly it was. I think you're just far too entitled. First hint of trouble you're abusing the manager and wanting them sacked.
You're point is based on one single comment mate. (weirdly, the one and only comment I've made regards Hecky being shite).

First hint of trouble? Not really, we've had more trouble with Wilder these past couple of seasons than it's worth, my opinion. I know you adore Wilder with all your heart so it annoys you seeing someone else think he's bang average at best.

Norwich seemed to be on a good thing under Clement to be fair. Not a given it will happen next season though.

I've thought about the Brooks sale and actually it makes you wonder. You say surely a prem club would have paid £8m for him.
But clearly not, because they would have at least matched the bid and Brooks would likely have preferred to go up to the PL to have another crack at it.

I too expected more fee if he was to leave but I think it maybe shows where the footballing world see him right now?
Rising star? Yeah in the championship.
Potential to go higher and become a PL player? Yes but also not a given, could also remain a good top half champ player.

At that point 8m rising to 10m (Might not see that) is perhaps not that bad.

If he’s a prem player for the future - hopefully not with Norwich - then I hope we have a good sell on %.

Fair point re David Brooks. Does feel quite similar.

It's a total rebuild job. Time to get heads around it. It's a slow, painful, laborious process. Readjust expectations accordingly and stop mithering. If you're the victim of your own deluded expectations, that's on you.

I'm optimistic because we tend to be competitive under CW unless there are seriously extenuating circumstances (COVID, Selles). It takes him a while to get going. Hopefully last season was the equivalent of the first season back in the Championship after we went up.

Unfortunately the extenuating circumstances this season are the fact that the parachute payments have ended and we're skint, while some big , rich clubs have come down from the PL and will be looking to bounce straight back.

If we make the playoffs it will be a decent season but of course a vocal few will be calling for Wilder's head if we don't finish in the top two

Finances will dictate what we can or cannot do this season in terms of the squad and we need to set our expectations around that.
The PL gravy train has left the station so to expect us to spend money as before is to set yourself up for disappointment.
For me I’m a bit disappointed to see Brooks go but it’s not the end of the world, as some have said inconsistency is his main issue so he could go either way.
I still think we can improve on last season, even with players of a lesser standing coming in as the team dynamic was so poor last year.
For me this season is about consolidation amidst (hopefully) huge upheaval in the squad.
If we can be in or around the lower play-off places for most of the season and start to see a team with character I’ll be content.

Oh for fs covid again

The way I look at it is nobody would be saying we’ve got the deal of the century if we’d bought him for £8-10m. He’s a decent player but I can just as easily see him never making it out of the championship as playing in the prem. If he was worth more than £8m then a prem team would’ve paid it.

It never feels great to lose one of your best players / better players but realistically when you’re a championship team anybody is for sale for the right money, Norwich have a bit more than us currently because they sold 4 of their best players last season.

Just do what those lot do with bad news.

So this all means we will be in the champions league soon.
