Signings for next season

Give me the 2019/20 Danny Ings every day of the week. 22 goals in the Premier League that season, signing players after injuries like his was always going to be a risk. Bamford paid off this season to keep us up but you feel that he could do with a goal before the season is up as a bit of a confidence booster

We aint playing in 2019/2020.... Ridiculous comment.

Robinson and Jimmy Dunne be his first 2 signings.... Proper take us forrad.

I’ve seen Jimmy Dunne twice live for QPR this season and if we can get him we should. Exactly what we are crying out for in our defence.

Rothwell is more worrying than ings. How long is rothwell's contract and I bet he's on high wages! A Wilder signing. I honestly can't see him building a top team, but I would love Wilder to prove me wrong as I've decided to renew season cards for me and my son.
Will you renew mine

It’s an open forum for comments on footballers in my opinion (if it’s allowed?) i was alluding too we took a risk on Ings knowing his injury record, if he managed to overcome that and showed the consistency of what he was known for i.e scoring goals he could have kicked on and become an asset similar to how Bamford arrived again as a risky option with his past record of injuries.

Not forgetting we took a gamble with Didzy after his injury not many at the time of signing thought we made the right choice there but turned out to be a masterstroke at the time. There is a big gulf in both quality and fitness levels from League 1 to the Championship, he scored a hatrick against Man United U21s in the cup, Didsy could have been a bench player here but it’s strange he has been relatively injury free at Barnsley but in his last season with us he was out injured for 11 matches. There is something not right with our strength and conditioning or routine as I don’t think for a second he would have improved the results of the club

Err..... you've missed off the saviour of next season Rothwell....another complete waste of a contract on his showing so far. Also when interviewed Wilder implied Phillips will be back in the team when available, which will be another wasted spot as he won't be here next season.

Agree re playing Tanganga and McGuiness as we won't be able to shift either of them this summer so we need to try and get them playing together in the remaining games.

Id go:
Faxon
Seriki Tanganga McGuiness Burrows ( but McCallum when back fit)
Brooks Riedewald Peck Chong
Ohare
Bamford
Tanganga had a brilliant game today. He's quiet but he saved us from conceding at least 2 more goals. Seriki & Brooks will be sold to the highest bidder. The owners are looking to sell & not spend to compensate for no parachute payments.

Wilder did well first time because he was a manager in league one and knew good players to sign. Now he signs old rubbish players like rothwell and the Calvinist.

Agreed with the post just to flip it slightly, Ings has done more than Rothwell and Phillips have in their time here. Ings least has been available recently for selection, it was always going to be a risk with him and he still isn’t ancient in terms of footballers, yes he is the wrong side of 30 but not the wrong side of 35, it’s unfortunate that he couldn’t get up to speed. However scored a goal was very unlucky with the other 2 that were offside. I would like to know where Mee is, it seems like he has dropped off the side of the earth

Mee stopped playing football during the Mansfield game, half way through a Mansfield attack in which they scored the fourth.

My guess is his targets will be

Jimmy Dunne
Hamza Choudhury
Luke Ayling
Jack Robinson
Someone experienced from whoever gets relegated from Leicester/Brom/Blackburn
Ben Sheaf
Regan Slater
Tommy Doyle
Elijah Adebayo
Wont be Ayling as he's signed a contract extension last week, not sure on Adebayo either but the others I'd say are pretty spot on with my thinking. My guess for one of the potential targets will be Sam Byram

I can understand the management trying a few things.

I’m also at a loss what works when there are so many players there you probably don’t fancy.

Makes you start thinking that we should have a plan for Oné. Apparently he’s often been used as a wide attacker.

With Gus likely to be off, perhaps that dynamic with him left, Brooks right would work?

Perhaps O’Hare as 10 and creates an opportunity for Marsh to be back up 10 or come in from the left? Then you need a couple of back up options in that three. Not a Chong fan, but as back up not sure what you can expect.

The defence needs someone dominant. We’ve been far too soft.

Wonder if Leicester go down Chris will try to get Souttar and possibly even Choudhury? Not saying it’s right but it’s the sort of thing he does.

Those two and perhaps Tanganga looks better alongside a dominant player and also Choudhury covers Riedewald and also Seriki in one go.

They need to be on the treadmill next to you doing 10/10/45!
They should be doing proper hill reps as part of their conditioning not pussy footing about on a Dreadmill unless it's for recovery, which is generally done on a static cycle.
I need to back into messen, turning into a reight lazy Alan lately 🙁

Imo don't see point in selling Gus...unless he pushes for a move away himself.

Keep him as how do you expect to replace his goals and assists with someone who's going to be worse?

Keep him and try to push for promotion - if we go up, he can leave and we will have money to buy someone better. If we don't go up, it's because he's not good enough and neither is the team. Pointless selling imo

I would be workong through this list personally & would be happy if we could get anyone from it. There's a few free agents in there, some cheap gambles & some that would be a ambitious / Transfer fee. This is if we could generate some funds from player sales & whatever else we have on top, and who we can move on from an already bloated squad.

In no particular order....

Keisuke goto
Prince Junior
Anto sekongo
martin adeline
forino joseph
Rob Atkinson
Vesteegard
Mickey Johnstone
Perry ng
Ben Wilmot
Ross Stewart
Jordan James
Sam Tickle
Goncola Franco
Sondre Tronstad
Daniel Fry
Josh Laurent
Tyrell Malacia
James Bree

1 x GK to compete with Cooper, release Davies. Assess is Faxon is that man, loan out if not.

1 x RB to compete with Seriki. Establish early on if Seriki will stay.

1 x CB to partner Tanganga. McGuinness as back-up. 1 x back-up also needed, as Mee will likely retire.

2 x CM, to offset the departures of Davies, Shackleton (release) and presumably returning loan of Soumare. Sell Matos. Decide what to do with Rothwell. Please, for the love of god, add some athletes with good fitness/availability.

2 x CM or 2 x Wingers. Identify a preferred system and implement it. Ideally, establish early whether Brooks and Hamer will stay and plan accordingly.

1-2 x CF. Bamford, presumably Cannon and Campbell. Do whatever we need to, to get a tune out of the latter. Witch doctor or whatever, there's a player in there to not give up on. Release Ings. Include Oné.

Put people into the hierarchy of the club. More than Bettis alone, for the love of god.

There is a lot to do this summer. But there's no reason why we can't do what is needed.

Ben Wilmot
Zak Swanson
Both available on frees. Both experienced at this level.
Josh Laurent from Burnley, also available on a free.
The worry I have is a repeat of last summer. No movement in the transfer window until late on, resorting to panic buying. We can get a lot done if we move quickly, especially with those who will be free agents. We lost out on Dunne and Darling last summer, and they would have instantly improved our defence, without spending £15m on Zatterstrom, McGuinness and Tanganga. Let alone the ridiculous signing of Godfrey.

I always forget Shackleton actually exists!

(probably) our best two transfers this season were mid season free agents.

I am confident other rabbits will be pulled out and others who add little too. Getting more to be a success is the key.

Unfortunately the belt will be tightened from now on in. I still can't believe what the owners did last summer. Spectacularly dumb.
