He was instrumental in all three goals, Wiz. It was a very impressive cameo indeed. Not only that, his career record suggests he's very capable indeed at this level. The lad who Tufty has just dropped, by contrast, has yet to demonstrate that he can score sufficient goals to play up front at this level. A high work-rate is admirable but I'm afraid a striker has to strike now and then. I'm not sure his assists are particularly impressive either?

Leon's started off his Blades career with an injury and hasn't had the chance to get into his stride yet. Is there any reason why he shouldn't be given just as much opportunity as Matt Done?
As I said, CW will give him enough opportunities if he sees fit to, after all he did bring him here.

I have said on another thread why I thought Clarke had an impressive cameo against Chezzie, Chezzie were absolutely shattered from us pulmarsing them in the second half, especially after their initial 20 minute burst they put in the first half, they were very low on confidence and their best player went off along with us keeping Aryibi (sp) very quiet in the second half. These all contributed to why Clarke looked good but then we roll up at Charlton, a better team than Chezzie, he gets a start and he was poor.

Whatever CW does i'm happy with but i'm yet to be convinced that Clarke will be anything other than that man who comes off the bench to do exactly what he did at a team like Chezzie, pinchers.

It's a bit rich to call for patience with Done but dismiss Clarke after a handful of games (mostly played when far from fully fit).

Agreed, though I haven't seen anyone be dismissive of Clarke per se.

C'est la vie. UTB.

He'll be looking at Coutts and Fleck as well. Lambert's a manager who's got previous for signing players from the lower leagues, and maybe he'll be more aware of those two with them both being Scottish like him.

Coutts has a clause in his contract that extends it by a year once he's played a certain number of games, which he should've done very soon. Wilder confirmed it. So nobody will take him off us for a pittance.
This.

And furthermore, he may be looking for an offering if we wish to pursue EEL.

Coutts n Fleck would be my best guess in this regard but I wouldn't rule out Sharp either.

Absolutely bang on Wiz.

I thought he was poor at Charlton too.

I also think picking him from the start makes us play too long too quickly (certainly first half), he's not a target man and Billy ain't good at picking up the flick ons.

This isn't his fault IMO, I do think he's much better on the ground than he is in the air, it's just an easy/lazy ball to play.

For me I think CW has got a couple of selections, potentially, wrong recently. Done isn't going to be effective when teams come and park the bus, as highlighted by Bury and Shrewsbury, I think Clarke would've been the better choice. At Charlton, though, I thought Clarke was the wrong choice and Done should've started. They didn't park the bus and it would've kept us playing football IMO, plus we started with Bash at RWB not the best crosser.

Leon needs to up his game and quick as it looks like he's going the way of Henderson, Higdon and Sammon I.e signed with all good reason, purpose, intent and with no shortage of "pedigree". On paper, all decent signings that turned out to be, bluntly, wank !

I expect he will start tonight.

My general overall view of Clarke is well documented ;)

I agree, his saving grace at the moment for me is the injusry he had.

If he'd played like this without it I would be considerably more concerned.
