So 2 promotions and a good PL season for a net transfer outlay of £0 and a wage bill of about £100m over the 3 successful seasons (up to summer 19)?
Criticise the business post promotion. Having anything but praise for the business before that is being silly.

I’ve absolutely no idea what your point is. He knows the players that he likes to work with & who he can get the best out of.
Nothing wrong with that, he’s been largely successful in his time with us so he clearly knows what he’s doing.
It’s probably our scouting system that’s the problem when it comes to signing top talent from abroad not Wilder.

Missing the point Carlts, (what's new) my point was Wilder prefers to sign British players, that's fact.....not saying there is anything wrong with that if it is successful but it is a bit short-sighted when so many other clubs cast their nets wider and pick up good signings...

My point was more that they found a successful way of working and it didn't matter where the players came from.
What was inexplicable is that, when we came into some money CW/PM completely disregarded all the things that had stood them in such good stead on recruitment .
One of which, technically strong players who came through at big clubs with excellent character who were being undervalued for whatever reason had worked astonishingly well. But most of all, every successful player we signed was tactically clever and had the football knowledge to learn their role quickly. But they gave that up and just moved to signing players who'd played well against United and disregarded whether they would work within the 'system'. The collective tactical IQ of the players signed in summer 2019 was about 11.

so I would assume he is more open to foreign players.Its all about scouting and we are more open to foreigners now I would hope..

But not having a pot to piss in is exactly the reason why foreign players should be bought, they are cheaper and in general they are better. Takes a lot of research and good scouting though, but why bother doing that when Joe Bloggs is available on a free from the Dog & Duck

It's not just 'good scouting ' though.
You have to set your stall out with a well funded long term plan. Brentford for instance, decided they couldn't compete with Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea/CheatinAmmers academies, so put massive resources into research and video analysis.
It's not something you flip to and from, as managers come and go. It needs long term vision and more importantly, long term financial commitment from the owner.

Look, our scouting network probably isn’t the best, also our inability to pay the same as our peers makes “Sheffield who?” a non starter for many foreign internationals. But that might just give youngsters like Osula, Brooks, Arblaster etc an easier route into the first team.

I'm presuming that CW doesn't really give a shiny shit where a player comes from, provided he is better than what we already have, is attainable, has the right ethics and work traits and most importantly, wants to come.
I suspect that United's limited visibility in the overseas player market has stunted our chances of picking up gems from abroad so as he has been working with a limited budget he has gone with what he knows. That's fair enough and it's worked out well on the whole, but to get to the next level we do really need to see us expanding our knowledge of the overseas markets. Bearing in mind we have nearly signed a player from the MLS last season, brought in a Brazilian from overseas in the summer, and are just about to sign a player from the Spanish league, maybe we are just starting to see an expansion of our home grown policy. I can't believe that CW will be having a strop about this either.

It certainly worked for us, that old school British way of the changing room, sometimes foreigners just don’t get the banter im pretty sure if most of us went into a Spanish or Italian or Romanian dressing room we’d feel a bit alienated too. A good successful football team requires togetherness
