Chris.Writing's on the wall for Selles.
Looking ahead, who would you go for...
He's been recalled to prison for not finishing his sentence.I'd prefer Gareth Gates![]()
Yes they're psychopathsIt's a really weird trait to actually want to piss Wilder off.
Yes someone else who’s unproven… no thanksGenuinely think Danny Rohl would be a good shout
I think Amorim is a fraud tbf, so a comparison for Selles I like better is Iraola at Bournemouth. It took him until matchday 10 to get his first win. He went 0-3-6 in his first 9 games and many people (me included) thought sacking O'Neil (who did fairly decent all things considered) for some unknown Spanish manager was a horrible decision.Young Spanish coach called Selles.
Why don't we have any threads like "Now he's got this defender", "How long you embed new tactics with new players" etc?! All pessimism and very little optimism.
We need to be patient. I know that's hard for people in 2025, but good gravy, have a beer or whatever relaxes you and just give it awhile. We won't get relegated. We were unlikely to get promoted this season.
I don't really want to compare Selles to Amorim because it's a bad comparison in many ways (but similar in others). I'm too tired to outline the parallels.
Amorim has had an absolute nightmare so far at that other United, but clearly isn't incapable, or a fraud etc etc - whatever their fans are labelling him. He might get sacked but he's at least had some time there. He'll get a big job elsewhere if he goes. The majority of appointments fail, but they need ample chance to succeed.
Similar with Selles just a bit lower down the food chain - and just because it's been shit doesn't mean it'll stay shit. Sacking a manager 4 games into the season would be ridiculous. We've only just signed some players! The defence was shit, with no defensive midfielders. So we were obviously going to struggle until signings came in, unfortunately, that's not the managers fault in any way.
.
Maybe a better comparison with him yeah. Not that he was unknown, btw.I think Amorim is a fraud tbf, so a comparison for Selles I like better is Iraola at Bournemouth. Well, look at Bournemouth now. Punching well above their weight and it's only a matter of time until Iraola lands at one of the big clubs.

True, Iraola wasn't completely unknown. But I don't think many people followed Rayo Vallecano.Maybe a better comparison with him yeah. Not that he was unknown, btw.
Amorim is hardly a fraud - can't have been pure luck at Sporting, despite being a big team in their country. They annihilated Man City in one of his last games in charge, for example.
But good point overall and yes, let's hope fans can be patient, avoid knee jerk (or just jerk) reactions.
When your striker practically averages a goal per game your're bound to have a good record. Look at his record at Sporting before he got Gyokeres. They finished 4th in a league that's usually dominated by 3 clubs.Comparing Amorin to Selles is hilarious btw
Even with Amorins poor time at Manure, he's still only lost 18% of matches he's ever managed in his career.
Compare that to Selles who's lost a whopping 41% of games he's managed
The difference is night and day.
All managers that have been discussed as a potential replacement for Selles have way better stats than Selles (apart from O'Neil who's equally as bad and I have no idea why people might want him)
As even the most ardent stats person would say - stats aren't everything. Amorim managed one of the best teams in Portugal. Selles cut his teeth at a broken Reading and a nearly broken Hull.Comparing Amorin to Selles is hilarious btw

Yes, quite possibly if the owners show the same incredible ignorance and appoint a loser like O'Neil or an unlikeable, greasy, scrote like Rohl.If we sack him on Monday, might we sack the next manager after another 4 games?!

An interesting read.
G O'Neil was allegedly one of our top three choices along with Selles, so could well be on our radar.
I’d happily see Wilder mk 3 come back - but I think this poll is being realistic in regard to it being very unlikely that COH sports will eat humble pie & reappoint Chris W.Why is Wilder back not an option because many would chose that in a poll?
I can't believe Michael Carrick is on the list but not Wilder back. I'd still go for Dave Challinor over anyone on the list, then Dyche, then Wilder back, then Rohl. I'm not a Steve Cooper fan but I appreciate I'm in the minority here. When he does well with a low budget and average players for the league he's in then fair enough.
Realistically, we'll probably not go for Dyche or he won't come, same with cooper and Wilder. COH won't know who Dave Challinor is neither and so I can't see that one. So from your list and realistic managers it's got to be Danny Rohl. The last ex Wendy called Danny didn't do too bad job in my view!
I remember vividly sticking up for Wilson when he was appointed and I got dogs abuse but it was on Blades Mad then!
