Excellent tonight so far, some great, passionate calls about the FA Cup. A lot of people feel strongly about it and rightly so. It's about time we stood up to be counted as supporters of clubs.

What should we have done differently? Apart from playing better.

It's not been about us specifically mate, just about the FA Cup. In fact, I haven't even paid attention to which teams the callers have supported, I've just been listening to their viewpoints on the demise of the FA Cup. It's been sad to hear, but good at the same time that people feel so passionately about it.

Hi Blades,

Thought we'd pass on that over the last seven days we've not only broadcast a one hour special on Tony Currie, delivered on the day of his 75th birthday: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0kfpq6r

But we also recently conducted a 30 minute interview with Prince Abdullah: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0kfnz0q

On tonight's show we kicked things off talking about the great job Chris Wilder had done, then talked about one of the big talking points from the weekend which was Danny Röhl's comments about the transfer window. We had callers from Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley plus Sheffield Wednesday and would've happily put to air any Blades, as we regularly do. Tonight we had a lot of Blades texters and read their messages out.

I know a lot of people like to make out that we have 'favourites' or prefer this team over another, but actually we just balance out coverage between six clubs (not easy) and at various points there are big talking points, specials and interviews about all. However, no other team had a special programme and a special interview over the festive period - so accusations of bias feel a bit off if you don't mind us saying.

Anyway, thanks for listening and speak soon!
If you genuinely want feedback please bin off any listener phone ins. It used to be quite innovative pre internet but it’s a god awful listen now and it’s easy to tell how much contempt you have for some listeners opinion (and rightly so in many cases “manager xyz ahhhhht!!!!!” etc). The Brian the Blade etc characters stopped being funny years ago as well.

In this day and age when I can get any old cunt’s uninformed opinion rammed down my throat on social media I’d much rather have some genuine insight from a vetted source. Maybe get some podcasters or similar on from local clubs to be the voice of the fans post match.

Aside from that though I dont think the RS is biased and the coverage is far better than many parts of the country get. Doesn’t blindly tow the club line but deals in facts rather than going down the talk sport path of unrelenting gobshites.

Ive given up with it in the morning. I used to listen every day going to work. I can't do with that new woman that's on now. Sorry don't know her name. Total drivel.
It’s Ellie Colton or summat like that, switched off ages ago, she really sounds like she’s whinging like a 11 year old lass constantly. Used to listen to it regularly driving about, hardly ever now.

I admire your passion, I really do.

But the cup is deader than Elvis. And that saddens me.

As for R/S, I never listen to praise or grumble so I can’t comment. But the match commentary is very good. The only thing that boils my piss (and it’s really a me problem) is that quite often we get put on FM where I struggle to get reception, and the pigs end up on DAB which works fine

As someone who doesnt live in South Yorkshire and has heard other 'local football programmes' not only is FH up there with, if not the best of them, it provides a link with 'home and the Blades'.
I live on the south coast and I think football heaven is brilliant on the odd occasion I listen to it. There's obviously not a lot of Blades discussion down here so for me it's refreshing to hear people talking knowledgeably about us (and the other lot). I'm not sure I'd bother with 5 nights of it, but if it's my turn to cook and I remember it exists, I'll have it on. That or praise or grumble, which I also love 😂

The prologue tonight about the death of the FA Cup was actually really good (even shutting down a Wednesday fan's opinion that they are the bigger club because they'll take more to Coventry than we had in the whole ground against Cardiff, yet they only managed a similar attendance against Cardiff in last season's 3rd round).

So your’re saying the FA Cup is very much alive and living in a nursing home in Palm Springs under the name Jon Burrows?

Both Sheffield clubs have only been broadcast on digital this season, apart from when they're available on both frequencies.

Rob Staton at it again tonight.

Slagging off Wednesday saying how he’s at Burnley for the game tonight and their stadium is now pretty good and clearly improved in recent years.
He also mentioned that the pitch was immaculate and highlighted just how pathetic Wednesdays disgrace of a pitch is, with all its brown patches.
He admitted that Burnley as a club, including sommany other clubs like Sheff Utd are now light years ahead of Wednesday now.
He said he spoke to an ex SW player a few weeks ago who told him the training ground is exactly the same as it was when he was there in the 1990’s.
It’s not been upgraded and now average league 1 standard at best.

Some Wednesday fans rang up to defend their club blaming their struggles on parachute money
but Staton continued to slate them saying many non parachute teams have gained promotion so it’s an excuse
He also said the ground (Hillsboro) needs so much work in it it’s worrying and embarrassing.
Finally admitting that Wednesday have been left behind off the pitch….said it’s sad and a disgrace.

They received an email at the end accusing him of being a Unitedite and said he may as well say “up the Blades’ because he’s always so biased in favour of United.

Rob is a wind up merchant….so is reaction was to wait until the end of the programme then he announced “Up the Blades” ha ha.

Brown patches at that place shouldn’t be a surprise, and they’ll hardly be limited to the pitch. One of the world’s largest concentrations of shite, everything about the club is built on it.

Nevermind all that.

Staton should be sacked for not admitting he's a pig on air.

Staton actually put forward the question whether Wednesday should be punished by the league for having a sub standard pitch.
He said that Danny Rohl has mentioned that his players have found it difficult to perform on it….which is a disgrace.
Again asking the question how come a club like Burnley can have their pitch in immaculate condition where as Sheff Wed can’t?
Saying the pitch might have lost SW some points this season and it’s another example of something that’s so wrong at Sheffield Wednesday FC.

The point of my post is that Staton might be a Wednesday fan but he often slags off Wednesday and tends to praise us more than them.
However I sometimes think he’s deliberately saying stuff to get a reaction to encourage callers.

I listened to about 5 mins and was laughing at the very indignant pig fan banging on about parachute payments and how poor old Wednesday were shafted when they got relegated. No mention of the fact they have spent big and screwed it up.

He thought he was being clever with the question how many teams have got promoted in the last 5 years without Parachute payments?

They come up with the answer 5 so on average 1 team a year. So blowing his argument completely that the system is broken.

The presenters did a good job, pointing out Forest, Brentford and Brighton all got up without them. Probably why he was being called a Blade by the end of the show.

The daft twats can't see we have only got PP's now because we put a good team together through wheeling and dealing to get promoted (without them) in the first place. Sold Brooks and Rammers to build the team as opposed to grimly hanging on to aging players and having no talented youth and no long term plans.

We developed multiple players to provide our finances.

We have sold Brooks / Che Adam’s / Ramsdale (twice), DCL, Osula, Berge and illiman all good fee’s. Wilder has his finger prints on all of them.

Where as Rohl is signing 33 year old Stuart Armstrong and relying on older player. He is after instant success he isn’t bothered about building for the future.

They need a manager like Wilder that will look for the long term. Until this happens they will never catch us. We have a long term plan. Rohl’s plan is a 6 game advance plan. Hopefully get most points and leave at first opportunity.

This is the reason why I am such a fan boy of Wilder. He has built our club to go from the levels of below Wednesday to being light years ahead.

Wednesdays best bet now is to hopefully beat us in a game.

The pitch at the Sty is hardly an excuse though is it - unless the visiting team are playing on a different one?!

I see one of his close protection team couldn’t resist dipping their toe in on a post about Staton 😆 I don’t think this is far off, he reminds me of Adrian Durham from Talksport years ago who always put controversial points across to stimulate debate. Ralph is quite similar but channels his agenda towards one particular demographic. Which is why I don’t tune in anymore when he’s on as it’s so predictable.

As usual Wednesday fans have incredibly short memories. When Chansiri was splashing the cash with wreckless abandon, I heard no complaints. In fact all I got from them was digs about never having heard of our players whilst they were signing “household names”. No, I don’t remember any of them being household names either but that’s what they said!
And it’s for reasons such as this that I sincerely hope they never play in the top flight again. I would love an entire generation to grow up and grow old never having seen them play Premier League football!

It's become a crutch to them

They had their Desso pitch laid in the same Summer as ours. However, work on their pitch started 2 or more weeks after ours, yet was finished well before ours. I remember thinking at the time that ours had been done properly but theirs hadn`t.

It would seem that is the case, and that ours has been maintained far better than theirs.

I also remember many of them at the time claiming that ours took longer because we had hired cowboys. If anything theirs should have taken much longer, as the sub levels of soil under their pitch must have been in a right state after the previous floods.
