I’ve just listened to Wilder’s interview after the game tonight and I would defy any Blades fan whether you think he’s the right man or not… to not be moved by his passion and positivity.
We’re all hugely disappointed by the transfer window and you can tell he’s gutted … but he was absolutely spot on about what we have to be all about now.
Tonight’s game showed a lot of deficiencies but he’s exactly right that it also showed we have a set of players who will give their all. He refused to moan about not being backed and he just concentrated on what we have got in the squad and how they will all be working incredibly hard to improve and compete.
I know there’s a lot of people on this forum who don’t want him here … but listen to that interview and I think most will hear that we have exactly the right man to get everything out of the squad we have and to fight for every possible point. Even if you don’t want him long term… surely most will be happy he’s in charge while we continue to have nothing but ignorant silence from the owners and continued worries about where their ineptitude may lead.
Thanks for the fantastic goal tonight Rom… looking more like Illy every match.

Not heard it yet.
But agree entirely. Love him or hate him there's no-one else who I'd rather have as manager with us in this position.

Do I like him tactically? No
Do I believe in his temperament and ability to manage games? No
Do I trust him with strong financial backing? No

Does his belief in this team when they've got everything against them inspire me? Yes
Do I think he can convince players to run through brick walls for him? Yes
Do I think he can scratch and claw with this raggedy, fucked up squad and salvage something? Yes

The squad clearly believe in you Chris. I did once. Time to do it again

Listen I like wilder and think he’s the right man for the job because it’s a firefight but he doesn’t get a free pass for the way the window has gone

Him and shit team of scouts have had months to consider attacking options (loans - I’m not even asking for them to spend the COh money) Brooks and hamer have been gone weeks. Wrexham’s interest has been known for days

He’s acted with apathy when it comes to bringing in creativity. He’s going to have to reckon with that when the lack of creativity deservedly bites us.

Can we honestly say Doherty wages could not have been put to better use?

Great reply 👍👍

I agree he is currently the best man for the job right now. I also think that he has agreed to be used as a fig leaf by the owners and that is exactly what the contract extension was all about.
You could be right… he definitely refuses to be drawn into criticism of them.

Outplayed by 2 promoted teams and got lucky somehow. Wait till we play the top sides. Very worrying …
Those two promoted teams have had a lot of success playing together be it in League One.

Weve got a bit of a Frankenstein squad at the minute and I want to sound cliche so I'll say we've not had time to 'gel'
Let's see what we get out of Norwich and Wolves before the worrying

Agree with that .. we needed more but to be fair BBD and particularly Donovan were good tonight so we’re not completely bereft. I think he’ll get us playing in a way that suits what we’ve got … hopefully much like Hull did.

Agree with all this, Wilders abject lack of wheeler dealing to bring in creative players (and I am talking cheapos/loans or youngsters) during the window seriously reduces his room to manoeuvre tactically and further erodes the goodwill of fans. He could have avoided that with a couple of figleaf style signings…

The first 11 might just be fine

I’m truly just frustrated at the missed opportunity In a division where you only have to finish 8th to make the play offs. We’ve left ourselves so open to a single injury just destroying the season.

The lack of thought and organisation that’s lead to this is truly just stunning. What is our scouting network doing with their time?

He sounded exhausted to be fair, like he’d not been to bed for a few days which may be the case.

Did anyone catch the bit about Arblaster having a “difficult/wonderful 72hrs”? Sounds like a lot to deal with personally for Chris and the family too.

Agree that he and his off-field team haven’t been well enough prepared for today and this is more evidence why you need a better team around him and support. You wouldn’t want a Wilder in that state making massive, defining financial decisions for the club, in the 60 minutes or so after a match. We need someone decent to take that load off him

But hope he gets a good rest now and we go into January better set up (ideally with better people around him). Praising the players he does have is the right approach

He makes it all seem like it was a surprise. He likely knew Hamer was off before the transfer window opened since he wasn't going to put pen to paper. Brooks was a good offer and that was also interest we had known about for a while.

It pisses me off when managers like Wilder just seem reactive, as if they are not aware of what's going on. Loading the squad with so many defensive players that are not here to play for free, when as you say even a smidge of those wages could have gone on someone else on loan.

He will redeem himself a touch if I see Sidibe in the match day squad, now is the time to take a risk and show a talent that's in high demand from abroad. Although I know he would sooner play Shackleton.
