I assume that as this is a shirt sponsorship deal (according to all those in the know) then the delay is connected to the release of the new kits. Adidas (or whoever) not having kits ready until next month?

No point announcing your big new shirt sponsorship deal with no shirts to show off.

True, but it would be possible to announce the sponsor without the shirts. At least, it's either that or say nowt. They've basically simply announced that we have a sponsor, not that anyone believed we wouldn't get one.
I think someone in marketing just got over-excited.

It’s impossible to watch this space and at the same time follow all the courtroom developments. If someone could dip in with borderline-believable updates of the developments on a daily basis that would be hugely appreciated.

How have we been promoted to the PL yet still manage somet like this?

Why oh why they didn't just wait until the deal is actually done to say owt really puzzles me.

We have a shirt sponsor every year, this year will cost whoever they are more, cos it's the Prem.

According to twitter the sponsorship news was going to be Santander, however the Bin Laden reveal has meant this has been paused as Santander want detail and clarification on this.

Any massive corporation (for example, one of the biggest banks in the world) will be fully aware of, and indeed probably have dealt with, the bin Laden family's businesses at some point. I doubt they'd even blink at that particular "revelation".

I doubt that but I would imagine they will want clarification on the supposed money laundering.

So you’re saying it’s just been paused rather than called off? With the implication that this is why the kit’s not been announced yet? Cheers Foxy, really helpful.

I'm not sure it's ever been paused. Maybe someone in the commercial department was a bit keen to announce things on the website, but like I said elsewhere a shirt sponsorship deal (if this is what it was) isn't going to be formally announced without a shirt to display.

I reckon kit launch and sponsorship announcement might happen at the same time. ;)
