Day no. 14 of watching the space.

My vision is ridiculously blurred, I've cleared the local Asda of their RedBull stock and such is the lack of news I've set the club site to auto refresh every minute now instead of 30 seconds.

McCabe out.

Maybe the answer is encoded in the spaces between the words?

Watch this space...

If it is ALK there could be all sorts of reasons this might not come off.

If the sponsorship was tied into the sale of the club then the 'watch this space' article was somewhat premature.

If it isnt tied to the purchase of the club but the deal hasnt been signed, the fact they've been mentioned in the court case alongside the non media friendly Bin Laden name, and they're an American company to top it off, they might end up just pulling out of the deal for the sake of avoiding bad publicity.

The last thing Americans would invest in is something linked to the Bin Laden family. Regardless of whether they disowned Osama or not.

The bin Laden's were huge allies of the Americans during the gulf war

I think 9/11 changed the American opinion on them but I could be wrong.

And you are. Even when the US was trying to kill Bin Laden before 9/11 his family were allowed to visit the US as they had nothing to do with Terrorism. There was a bit of anger about at the time as his family were allowed out of the US in the days after 9/11.

A few of his family died in a plane crash at a private airport down near me a few years ago so they are clearly welcome in the west...

I didn't say they weren't welcome in the West.

I worked for a company that over the years was owned by several US private equity funds. In the late 90s/early 00s it was owned by a fund where one of it’s major investors was the Bin Laden family.
I was in NY state when the towers were hit and ALL non military flights across the US were grounded (I was stuck there for 10 days). Later that day the Bin Laden family members were flown out of the US on a private plane allegedly organised by the US government and the equity fund.
The Bin Ladens are still large investors in the US and are seen as ‘friends’ of the US by the business and government fraternity....not so sure they are seen that way by the everyday citizens.

Fahrenheit 911 a very interesting take on the 9/11 attack and the Bush and Bin Laden families.

Was a ridiculous decision to tease a commercial negotiation. All they would get was increased expectation and risk looking like amateurs if it falls through.

Should have kept the powder dry and announced it at the appropriate time - 2 weeks suggests it wasn’t that close to completion even

Who says it isn't completed? and just cannot be released until a certain date due to contractual obligations.

I think it’s regretful that you have this viewpoint, you seem to prefer the club be secretive and not announce anything until it’s done.
This logic suggest we don’t announce any transfer targets until completed, so it looks like we’ve hardly made any enquiries.

Personally I think we should be treating fans as adults and releasing info as often as possible.
When we have transfer targets they should be communicated, so it gives fans an idea of the type of player Wilder wants.

Very much doubt the sponsorship deal has fallen through, unless we’ve received bigger sponsorship interest on the 11th hour.
Either way it’s great news for the club.

Imo All announcing it does is let the speculation / rumours take on a life of their own. We are now on page 30plus of this thread - I don’t see what’s to be gained by doing it.

If they just came it once it was sorted and announced a deal everyone would be happy. Some people are going to be disappointed is not hsbc or some mega company (hsbc etc.) now given the fanfare it’s had.

And You mention played but there’s a reason wilder never leaks / confirms anything until it has been made public by other parties. All that does it put other teams on the alert and risk the success in completing the signing.

For example if wilder had been banging on about what a bargain Norwood was going to be at £1.3m before it was done there’s every chance another team would have realised the deal was a steal and maybe come in with a bid

I would doubt it. Sponsors want to get their name out there, the PL is the vehicle for that. Who owns the club is pretty irrelevant. In fact, the more controversy, the more the club are in the news, the more exposure the company gets. (Unless bodies are found buried under the centre circle, or something).

Fuck...............better ring Vern, quickly...........

It's a business, nothing more nothing less. No business reveals any secrets and deals, possibly to the benefit of competitors. Speculation is one thing, actual announcements is something completely different. As adults we all should have realised this, and not expect the club to blab we're after player X before any signature.

Is the shirt sponsorship slowing down the arrival of a new home shirt.

That’s the worrying thing !

People only contribute to the thread if they want to.
Interest in your club takes many forms, even idle speculation.
With the t'internet it's possible to share with others.
Most of us can tell fact from fiction - even in the Rumour Mill ;)

When we have transfer targets they should be communicated, so it gives fans an idea of the type of player Wilder wants.

So you really think its a good idea to tell the fans we are after player A B and C
This not only alerts our rivals we are in for a player, it also alerts other clubs that the player might be available and we maybe out bid either with the fee or the wages aspect of the deal
Im very thankful Wilder didnt tell the football world we were after Norwood, Leeds or Villa might have come in with a cheeky bid and highjacked the deal
The fans dont need to know until the deal is complete, it would be very foolish to do otherwise

If his agent didn’t tout him round every championship club that can afford him, he’s not doing his job properly.
