Man of the Match today.
Great to see him get better as a player.
I was in with the Wet Spam fans keeping very quiet but enjoying their moans and groans about how shit they were. The only bit of praise I heard for us was one asking his mate regarding Lunny, "Who IS that bloke?" in an annoyed-but-admiring tone.
Hindsight, what a leveller!I don’t like to be negative but how is Lundstram even being considered for a place in our squad/lineup when his influence on the team is so poor. We cannot afford to play him and then realise this after 2 or 3 poor games
2-1 ken seems like a true gent. He's the best caller on there by milesThere are a number of posters on here who have no time for Football Heaven / Praise and Grumble on Radio Sheffield but there's a guy called 2-1 Ken (a regular caller) who's been beating on for ages about how good John Lundstram is.
Judging from the first page of this thread it doesn’t matter, apparently he’s shit.Judging from Wilders interview this morning, it doesn't sound like those contract discussions are going too well to me.

There was that much umming and arring from Wilder I’m not sure what he was getting at but unless we have an option on Lunny’s contract he’s going in six months for nowt. If he does, it will be the first time I criticise Wilder. Those posts were pre his Premier League exploits. I'm sure most would now have revised their opinions... myself included.
He'd be a big loss. But with him being a free transfer, I wouldn't be surprised if a "big boy" was willing to pay outside of our wage structure to secure him. He'd be a very useful squad asset for a lot of Premier League sides. I'm pretty sure this is whag Wilder was alluding to. It would be sad to lose him, but equally - you couldn't blame him.

Why so?unless we have an option on Lunny’s contract he’s going in six months for nowt. If he does, it will be the first time I criticise Wilder.
Why so what? What are you asking me?Why so?
It shouldn’t be that much of a surprise though. He obviously intended to play him because he was using him in pre season. If he didn’t think he was going to be good, why was he determined to play him?I get the impression that Lunny's sudden transformation this season has also taken our Chris by surprise, hence his contract situation.
Why would you criticise Wilder for it?Why so what? What are you asking me?
Because he should have started negotiations earlier. He obviously intended Lundstram to be a first team player because he played him pre season. Letting an important player’s contract run down so there’s only six months left is poor management and something that both Spurs and Arsenal have been heavily and correctly criticised for.Why would you criticise Wilder for it?
Maybe he come back from his "pre-preseason" fitness training in Dubai a changed fella ?It shouldn’t be that much of a surprise though. He obviously intended to play him because he was using him in pre season. If he didn’t think he was going to be good, why was he determined to play him?
Before we lay any blame at Wilder's feet, I think we'd have to know when the contract negotiations actually started, how much Lundstrum is asking for, and how much sway Wilder has over the top end salary scales.Because he should have started negotiations earlier. If Lunny walks away on a free at the end of the season I will criticise Wilder for allowing it to happen. It hasn’t happened yet though.
In which case, he should have offered him a new contract then, when he decided he couldn’t buy a better player.Did he really intend for him to be a regular first team player in pre-season or was he looking at the flat 3 in midfield as a system and using Lunny there because he was here and available.
For all we know Wilder was getting the team used to the slightly tweaked system while shopping for other midfielders. Then Lunny kicked on and it didn’t matter that we then either didn’t land our target / changed our mind.
We’ll never really know what was Wilders plan.
