He was signed based on his loan-season at Lille wich was ok probably.

Their fans had great things to say about him:

“a loan that did not work no consequences”

“not reassuring, many problems and he was even be replaced by Léo Jardim during the season. “

“If we could have taken Livakovic in place of Grbic last season, Gourvennec would perhaps still be the LOSC coach!”

“I trust Letang who for the moment has not been bad in recruitment except for Grbic “

“In my opinion, LOSC must recruit a real number 1 goalkeeper, Jardim was only number 1 last year because of Grbic’s poor level”

“Ivo Grbic only leaves bad memories”

“Grbic cost us between 4 and 6 points due to blunders or “non-saves” that could be made. “

“With Grbic, the defense was lost.”

“Grbic ruined everything”

“A car crash”

“catastrophic”

“very very poor goalkeeper”

“The worst goalkeeper we have had”

“no one can dethrone him”

“Every opponent’s shot is a goal.”

“I watched the Atletico Madrid – Celta Vigo game, Grbic =makes 2 big saves in less than 5 minutes. It was his brother loaned last year to LOSC !”

“yes he made us lose points, yes he is far from being a great goalkeeper, on the other hand he is a very great man. Despite the fact that he has never succeeded with LOSC and will never play there again, he was super happy when we won and just for that, big love on him”

“Grbic is one of the 7, only 7 players came to greet the supporters after games but some prefer to spit in the face of this type of player rather than at guys who are not much better and who never come to greet us”

Due respect then, he who recommended him worked for A.Madrid or he had a bloody good agent:confused:

Goallies, down memory lane. All of them past 100+ years., some missing though

Grbic exhibits the shit parts of Lee Baxter and even shitter parts of Derek Richardson all rolled up into one

What annoys you about this is the laziest bit of due diligence would have unearthed the fact that he was a bit of a bomb scare at Lille and they were delighted when he lost his place.

Yet a simple bit of google was too much effort. We’d rather piss away 2m quid plus wages than this. It is a worry that our scouting department can’t even do a surface level check that would have raised more flags than Pride month!

I think outside of Hamer who was a very obvious domestic target and Trusty who was the same but didn’t work out our transfer business last year seems very half arsed we signed a bunch of players from the continent who might’ve looked good on a spreadsheet but without a clear plan of where they would fit into our side or if they were longer term developmental signings what our plan was to develop them.

That’s resulted in them all pretty much being out the door or on their way out 12 months later.

The outstanding bit of all this is that we've broken even on those failed signings. Trusty went for a £1m profit, Slimane was a sub-£1m purchase and we'll have taken a decent loan fee from Norwich; Traoré went to Basel for nearly double what we paid (€4.5m vs €2.5m, although there will have been a sell-on). It's just Grbic now.

Stevens (long serving stalwart) -> Larouci (relegated from Ligue 1)
Fleck (long serving stalwart) -> Slimane (in and out in Denmark)
Sharp (long serving stalwart) -> Traore (half a season wonder, tiny)

I can now kind of see why Hecky wanted to keep the older guard. He’d obviously seen what the recruitment team had in mind!

Who knows.
Mutual agreement he left….resigned but paid off…all very murky.
Besides, one thing being unavailable due to injury, another just getting someone completely hopeless. Plus he’s still here and playing…and however small his contribution may be deemed in some quarters he’s made some positive impacts.
( Swansea away springs to mind)

Wish I could be arsed to pick out all the posters here who were completely supportive of Brewster signing and the ones going apeshit demanding we pay whatever it takes to sign him!
The fact that after more than 3 years, "Swansea away springs to mind" tells us everything about how awful a signing he's been. 🥲

I suspect that Grbic's performances were the straw that broke the camels back, resulting in the change in recruitment personnel we saw towards the end of last season. Bringing the likes of Jamie Hoyland in, I feel, was acknowledgement that recent transfer activity had, for the most part, been poor. To improve that, the only thing you can do is change who is responsible for looking for/at players that you might end up signing.

And the early signs are positive. The signings we've made this summer, look pretty tidy so far. Jury is still out for sure after only 4 league games, but I know that as we confirmed the various deals we've done, I wasn't displeased with any of them. After the disasters of last season, with Grbic, Trusty et al, that is very much a uptick in performance on the part of our recruitment/scouting teams.

Yeah it’s wild I guess them only being here 12 months means that clubs are willing to take a chance on here being a blip or that they can develop them better.

That's the silver lining to just how disastrously bad we were last season. That, and there's the Oli The Burke paradox where every team thinks they can "get something out of the lad".

My local Sunday league side has a goalie who can't reach the bar. Opposition tries to chip him with every shot 😕
They might be interested in a loan for Grbic. Can't pay him but could get him some confidence back? 🤔

Who the fuck has scouted him, but also fantastic news he’s off

They turned up thinking they were scouting Ramsdale and we just said yeh that’s him there

Hopefully he will have flown over and signed before someone realises

Apparently he’s a really good guy. That’s what the Lille fans said.

Not going to take the piss. It hasn’t worked. He’s done us no harm in terms of his attitude. Wish him well and hope it can be a permanent move. Probably won’t be, looking at how much they have spent this summer - just 2m euros with 3m in receipts.

Either way GLTTL
