Well he isn’t here with the GK group helping with warm ups? What the fuck do we do with him now?
Turkish window still open and so is Saudi I think. Try and get him a move over there or hopefully his agent will. Be a great back up keeper for a Saudi club he’s got quite a decent profile as an international etc

Honestly….he should try and negotiate a pay off and retire.
Go back to where he feels at home, get a nice place with his football earnings and change career.

Not and never will be a keeper any pro team will want in their side.

Think we’ll come to a mutual agreement. Actually feel sorry for him, I hope he’s ok mentally.
After the first game in the net he had me rocking for a week on the end of the sofa

Pretty sure we'd heard this before tbf. And I'm guessing he didn't play like he did after joining us!

Yeah but how was he scouted? he hadn't played a game for football for over a year before he signed for us. His latest appearances were in 21/22 during a poor loan spell at Lille.

Said exactly same when we signed him.

He hasn’t played so how could we know he’s good or even scout him. It’s a UW signing that’s gone wrong again. Just like Verrips and Coulibaly. They tried to be clever and flopped again.

Another plus from the takeover ! Breaking away from United World.Prince just hadn't got the money to make that work.

Question is how the hell did he end up on the books lf Athletico Madrid?

All their scouting resources and money from Champions League and he was the best they could arrive at.

He’s done nothing redeeming at Bramall Lane at all. Ironic that Matt Duke scouted him as he might be at the same level as Matt Duke, only we paid 2m for the privilege.

In contrast, Cooper looks calmness personified, doesn’t he?

His distribution is excellent!calmness personified played like he had been a fixture in our team for years which has to give our defence confidence that's without making a save in the entire match.Definately has a presence about him.
The ref must have been a rookie as he was following the ball when things were happening behind his back very nieve refereeing.
Watford wernt dirty in the sense of the word! Just got away with things which VAR is cutting out in the prem! We have to learn to cope with that and maybe join in the cheating, shirt pulling and holding was rife which is frustrating when the ref turns his back too early and they get away with it.
Good win blades !!.

He probably showed quite a bit of promise as a younger player playing for Croatia’s youth sides a fair bit so they took a punt on him. He didn’t develop and they shipped him out for a bit less than what they paid.

I can’t believe for a second we have ever delegated scouting responsibilities to position coaches. We’ve seemed to do some weird stuff in recent years but that would take the biscuit. I could believe Duke being asked to give an opinion on who he likes out of a short list same as the manager but actively compiling that list, exploring which players might be available, contacting agents to see if they’d be open to a move and then narrowing it down to a list of targets would be insane to ask any position coach to do. Feels like Duke is being scapegoated to cover for us making a shocking mistake with the limited funds we have available last January. Either it’s a lie and overstating the role he played in the transfer or it’s the truth and for some reason we were asking him to do something he isn’t employed to do and has no experience with. Either way I’m not sure it’s the PR line I’d be running with to try and cover my mates arse in this situation it’s not a good look.

The ref was a newbie

I think I remember hearing CW talking in an interview at the time and it seemed pretty clear that 'our goalkeeping coach (Duke) has been asked to run the rule over him'.

To me, the player identification as a target, the scouting (there clearly wasn't any done), the negotiations and therefore 99% of the transfer was done and worked by the United World contacts. CW who had only just come back in and was on a sticky wicket as we were getting hammered eaxh week, would have just gone along with this one and wasn't pushing for Grbic as a target. Duke will have just done a review on what video evidence we could cobble together and probably thought 'yeh, he looks ok'.

United World finger prints all over this one. Everyone makes mistakes but it should be made clear when he leaves that this was UW and not the current management or coaching set up responsible for this fuck up. Set the record straight idc.

And Duke is still here?

Expensive error to attach to a single individual if that’s the case.

Not sure his career as a coach recovers from that, £2m it’s cost the club plus wages! Not many folk in the world cost their employer probably £3m and keep their jobs

Did we sack Wilder for signing Brewster?

Did we sack Wilder for signing Brewster?
Who knows.
Mutual agreement he left….resigned but paid off…all very murky.
Besides, one thing being unavailable due to injury, another just getting someone completely hopeless. Plus he’s still here and playing…and however small his contribution may be deemed in some quarters he’s made some positive impacts.
( Swansea away springs to mind)

Wish I could be arsed to pick out all the posters here who were completely supportive of Brewster signing and the ones going apeshit demanding we pay whatever it takes to sign him!

Yeah that makes a lot more sense than Duke “scouting” him. Allowing El Cunt to repeatedly publicly name and scapegoat a member of the staff is shocking from the club.

If a mate of my boss at work was repeatedly slagging me off on social media I’d be straight in to HR.

Bournemouth signed Jebbison on what basis? were they really looking at him two years ago cos he's done fuck all since? On what basis did Watford decide he would be a good use of a Premier League loan slot? I get some people wanted us to sign Tom Cannon a bloke who has played in just 36 professional league games over three years. Baffles me how clubs are assessing players?

He was signed based on his loan-season at Lille wich was ok probably.

I'm not a Jebbison fan but 1.5m for Bournemouth in the PL is a nothing gamble.

If he somehow becomes good then they have a decent player and a future profit.
If he's shit then they've lost not much.
