Have we got him for the season or only up to January?

I've just checked the rules.

For any player in a season long loan there can be various clauses BUT they can only be activated during the Jan transfer window.

So we definitely have him until Jan17
And more than likely have him until the end of the season
However if Wolves have a clause that they can recall him and sell him then as long and he agrees then I suppose it's possible we could lose him.

but let's be realistic. He's either going to sign for us in January or
Wait until the end of the season and way up his options then.
Think the bottom line is we have to get promotion this season otherwise he'll be gone.

The good news in according to the Wolves fans he's well down the pecking order there and not needed at their club. So it looks like he's available.

Yeah, heard about that, it's known as The Sanity Claus...

These kind of comments are too simplistic.

Are you saying if our top earner is on £6K a week
And his agent asks for £15K a week we should break the budget, get in to debt we can't afford and risk the future of the club by giving players what ever they want.

I'd hoped those days had gone.
Wilder has made it clear he doesn't want mercenaries here.
If EEL's only motivation is money then I'm sure Wilder will show him the door and bring someone else that's committed to the club.

No. I'm saying what I wrote and that is the club should do all they can to convince him his future lies with us. Where have I said anything about breaking the budget, getting into debt and risking the future of the club? Convincing the player his future lies with us isn't always about paying him the most. I didn't even mentioned salary for Gods sake

Fair enough Blade58,

I can just imagine

His agent saying he really wants to play for us but he wants us to show ambition and show how much he's wanted.

Usually that means his agent wants us to offer him obsene wages.

In these situation I want us make it clear, if EEL is only motivated by money then we don't want him and good riddance.

But if this did happen I can imagine our fans slagging off McCabe for not paying obsene wages we can't afford.

I think we have to be sensible here, and rember we've had all this before with Brayford.
Yes I'd love to see him sign for us, but not for silly money......

All agents want obscene wages for their clients, it's their job.

It's up to us to stand firm in negations, like I'd hope we'd do in any situation, with any player

Wolves have Danny Batth and Richard Stearman as their most established centre halves. Then there are two good young centre halves they'll want to invest in - Kortney Hause and Dominic Iorfa, although Iorfa's been playing right back. Then there are another one or two who can fill in at centre back. Longer term they also have MIke Williamson to come back from injury.

So unless they get a couple of injuries, they'd be unlikely to recall him even if they could. Long term, Hause and Iorfa will block his route to their first team, and Batth is still quite young and will remain first choice. Throw in Stearman too and EEL is likely to be at least 4th choice for them moving forward.

So I'd be surprised if they wouldn't be happy to sell him, although I don't think they'll let him go too cheaply, especially with him being there for so many years. At the moment I'd estimate he'd cost between 350-500k.

Seems very wasteful playing a lad of Iorfa's stature at full back.

Think we have found a real gem here. I hope this can become a permanent signing for us. In Wilder We Trust. He has a captain look about him and think can become a Lane favourite

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice are holding a bucket collection at the Sheffield United game against Shrewsbury on Saturday November 19th (3pm kick off). The club would like to make this as lucrative as possible for the hospice and we are not only allowed to collect outside the ground but also throughout the executive boxes, the Platinum Suite, The TC10 restaurant, the Boardroom etc.

So if you are free and would like to help, your support would be much appreciated. We obviously need as many collectors as possible on that particular day, thank you. If you are interested please email [email protected]

I suppose it shows that they're not short of options at centre half. Also a good way to fit Hause in the team. Impressive how their whole back four were either homegrown or signed when teenagers for very little.

Very impressive, though a homegrown back 4 of Walker, Jagielka, Maguire & Naughton would impress me more.

Oh what could have been

I'm not bothered about him being recalled. Kenny Jackett taking the reigns at Rotherham worries me.

Unfortunately whether we like it or not Rotherham are a championship club and as it stands we aren't. If Jackett thinks EEL is the solution to his defensive problems and makes an offer we can't match in January we're stuffed.

Short term gain Danny, short term gain. Wilder isn't a fool, so the sell to EEL would be based on the fact that this is a club on the move, with everything that a player like EEL should be involved in, superb support, great ground, with a manager like Wilder who'll help EEL develop and become an even better player, so whatever Rovrum might offer now, Wilder has a deck of cards that the village down the road can't compete with. Their residency in the Championship has proved an insurmountable upgrade, time to return to their natural constituency.

No we're not.

Do you think Wilder has that attitude? I don't. I think he'll have his finger on every button for every eventuality. Like he's already proven.

Surely the sell to EEL would be a 30 minute walk round Rotherham? He'd take a pay cut to stay here!

Danny,

I'm sure EEL's agent will be looking after his clients earnings and potential future earnings.

Jackett will have difficulty persuading good players to join becuase there's a good chance they will be in league 1 next season. So even if Rotherham offered a bigger salary than us then under normal circumstances a player would still choose us.

I suspect any successful transfer will all be down to release clauses and bonuses etc.
I'm sure EEL's agent will advise him that he could easily wait until the Summer to consider offers.
However he might just sign for us as long as we offer release clauses (just in case we're not promoted).

I know a Wolves fan and he's assured me there's no chance EEl will be wanted at Wolves because he's so far down the pecking order. They would need to have loads of injuries for a recall to be activated and that activation can only be done in the next transfer window in January.

The Wolves fan said he's seen plenty of EEL and although he's commanding he's always liable to make a mistake so they don't rate him as quite good enough for the Championship. We've played Jake Wright in a back 3, so when EEL and O'Connell make any mistakes Wright is there as insurance to pick up the pieces.

Just checked Wikipedia, EEL's best part of his career was at Wolves when Jackett was their manager.

So you would think that Jackett will show some interest in getting EEL to Millmoor in January.
Doubt he'd go there though, surely a player would prefer a promotion campaign instead of a relegation battle.
but stranger things have happened I suppose.

I could possibly see it happening if the Jackett / EEL relationship was like the Clough / Brayford one. Not sure Rotherham would have the money to make it a permanent transfer, and by January if they keep going as they are they will be in deep shit. Surely as a short term measure, we'd look a better option to EEL?

Not worried at all that EEL would go to Rotherham. As others have said, EEL is ours till the end of the season anyway, unless we make the move permanent. If Jackett wants to sign EEL then he`ll have to wait until the summer and we`ll most likely be a Championship club by then and Rotherhan will most likely be a League One club, even with Jackett in charge I can`t see him saving them. If he does then I`m sure EEL would rather join us than Rotherham, even if we don`t go up.

If Jackett keeps them up it'd be something of a miracle, he might get poached by someone too. A manager I've always rated, thought he'd hang on for a safer job than that one.

Saying positive things about him on TV doesn't mean Jackett will want to sign him.

Even if Rotherham looked like staying up he'd rather sign for us than them.

Just because he's playing well in League One doesn't mean everybody in the Championship will be looking at him.

He's obviously the sort playing games matters to. It's took him a while be a first team regular somewhere, why would he risk going back to being a squad player?

Worst case scenario is that we keep him until the end of the season and then he moves elsewhere or goes back to Wolves.

I think everybody needs to stop shitting themselves.

According to the BBC - "Wolves boss Walter Zenga could be sacked if his side lose to Blackburn on Saturday despite the Italian retaining the support of the club's players"

Their new manager might do an Adkins style clean slate for everyone and recall the lad in the summer. Hopefully we will have signed him by then or summat though!

You'd assume, and hope, that any new Wolves manager would be given a big pot of money to splurge on new players, so it'd be unlikely that a League One loanee would be their number one priority. Particularly if they're a big name manager from overseas.
