Why would Wolves give him a new contract and pay him a signing on fee just to then sell him on the cheap six months later?

Because he was ripping up L1 and looked a real prospect. Since January they will have watched him and might not be too impressed with his progress. Their Chinese owners may decide to go again with investment and support Clement with more substantial funds. If you are Clement and your job depends on a realistic challenge for the Prem, would you start with EEL in your team?

I think we'd be interested around the £500-£750k mark but I can't see Wilder paying more. Obviously a good lad and he fits in well, but totally unproven at Championship level. He is young enough to improve but still has plenty of weaknesses in his game.

Lambert was manager when the deal was offered and he's manager now. If he's not good enough for Wolves then why is he going to be good enough for us?

Legend.

The first of the cult heroes to arise this season. Set the tone at the back when it so needed setting. And them goals! - Fleetwood and Bury in particular.

Thanks Ethan. That place in the heart is secure, whatever happens from now on.

To be fair I think he was a bit weary in defense, had a great standing tackle on him, but he lost his place for a reason.

Earlier in the season EEL was right man for the job. Ha gave us the muscle we had lacked in defence for the last 3 or 4 seasons. Strong in the air would not be bullied and indeed did the bullying. Scored some important goals for us and clearly very committed and seems to have fitted into the dressing room well. End of last year most on here wanted to sign him. He will always be a cult hero at BDTBL in my view. However has been prone to the odd error and I always felt he relied on playing with Jake Wright to tell him what to do positionally. I think he would be shown up in the Championship and what's the point of signing a player who is not up to it? There must be better options and ways of spending £500 - 750k which some posters postulate. For me it's thank you EEL for being an important part of this amazing season. You will always be remembered and given a great welcome here but we are moving on. His Tweets suggest that he knows this.
