Are there really no players in L1 or L2 with the ability Hourihane had when Barnsley bought him, with scope to improve and develop into a better player,at a good age and price, that would better serve us than Hourhane now?

i will be happier booker when brewster looks the slightest bit interested in playing for us he has to up his game with slav in charge he wont stand for performances he put in last seasonEach time I've seen Brewster shoot from outside the box its landed in the top tier/corner flag! I like Brewster, but I'll be happier when he shoots from sensible ranges only at present!
I think you have missed some of his shots. Each time I've seen Brewster shoot from outside the box its landed in the top tier/corner flag! I like Brewster, but I'll be happier when he shoots from sensible ranges only at present!
How do you work that one out?He wasn’t the most popular amongst the Swansea fans and seems to be on a downward trajectory based on the last couple of seasons. Even though our midfield was shite last season I’d struggle to see who he replaces to be honest.
Our midfield performed absolute levels above him in 19/20. Last season it was shite, but Hourihane had to drop down a division because he’s on his way down himself. Not hard to deduct really. How do you work that one out?
Season before last was his first PL season he made 27 apps and scored 3 goals.
Then Villa strengthened, and in Jan he went to a team in and around the Championship play off places and he scored 5 goals in 19. He started tailing off when Swansea did and when Cooper tried to make them more defensively solid.
He's infinitely better than Ben Osborn, based on last season better than both Fleck and Norwood. Although we're more in need of a right footer in midfield, I'll take Hourihane all day long.
It’s a good job we’re playing at the level we’re looking to sign him for then isn’t it?Our midfield performed absolute levels above him in 19/20. Last season it was shite, but Hourihane had to drop down a division because he’s on his way down himself. Not hard to deduct really.
Aye with players who’ve previously proven they’re better than him. It’s a good job we’re playing at the level we’re looking to sign him for then isn’t it?
Have they really though?Aye with players who’ve previously proven they’re better than him.
Obviously. We had a very formidable midfield for 2 of the last 3 seasons, it easily outperformed Villa’s. Hourihane was probably only their 3rd best midfielder at the time also. But you’re right it’s a game of opinions. Maybe Fleck and Norwood are totally done, time will tell.Have they really though?
That's open to interpretation
Fleck and Norwood were nowhere near good enough in the PL last season. I’m not sure they’ve got the legs for another promotion push. Even if they do … the thought of them playing in the PL again, two seasons after we were relegated, fills me with horror.Obviously. Baby steps, let’s actually get promotion before worrying about them in the Prem again, which I agree if it was to happen we’d need better.Fleck and Norwood were nowhere near good enough in the PL last season. See the Swansea fans views. As could be levelled at many other members of our squad at the moment, I'm wondering what isn't clicking for this lad?
Such a promising loan signing, he ought to easily dislodge someone and get into our side, he's such a proven performer at this level, should boss games and has such a quality deadball delivery. He delivered as recently as last season at this level too, for Swansea.
Wonder what's wrong?
Nothing wrong with his two corners for Egan’s goalsAs could be levelled at many other members of our squad at the moment, I'm wondering what isn't clicking for this lad?

Agreed! So why aren't we seeing more of him?Nothing wrong with his two corners for Egan’s goals
Because he has one bad half match ?Agreed! So why aren't we seeing more of him?
Those 2 corners were a great tactic of leaving the box empty and then attacking the space ,why havent we tried it since ?Nothing wrong with his two corners for Egan’s goals
He was needed to provide cover in case of injury/illness/suspension, as are several of the squad players. That is why there is a 23 man squad. Not everyone at the Lane was overly excited by his signing.
It felt like a last minute swoop just to get a body in.
He was going to be a slight upgrade on Norwood at best, and right now I'm not sure if he's even that.
Assuming he's on huge wages too, yeah I'd send him back.
