That logic means we can't spend any money on anyone.

Replacing 17 players with free transfers and loans of the same quality is pretty much impossible.

I don't happen to think that Bogle is the difference between getting promoted and not, but we might disagree on that.

He may choose to sign if we have a good season and get promoted. It's not guaranteed that he'll jump ship.

Leeds had our legs down with this one. We won't be able to sign a replacement of the same quality for the same price

They’ve stacks of cash and we should have kept negotiations going until we got 7m. We had nothing to lose as they are desperate in that position and if we start the season with him it would have been a positive for us and a negative for them as he’s been one of their top targets.Everyone is replaceable is what I should be saying but our approach to recruitment and retention of players means we are in the opposite position by default (we wont replace them.)

I think the up in the air status of the takeover and the need to get players in makes me feel worse about losing Bogle, when the reality his injury record suggests this is sensible business. I liked him though -really good going forward and that’s vital in the championship. Our running down contracts policy is ridiculous though. Poor, poor management.

I am not saying Bogle is as anywhere near as important as Ndiaye but every time we let our best players go to rivals for peanuts it never ends well for us.

I hear you, but it's only peanuts if we could potentially get much more from someone else, and I haven't heard of other clubs queuing up with offers, or we could be sure that keeping him would help us get promoted.

So it's guaranteed 5m, or potentially zero.

Personally I wouldn't mind him staying and playing down his contract, much in the same way that I wish we had told Marseilles to fuck off last summer, but I don't know what state the club's finances are in.

He didn’t really want to sign either apparently.

He wanted to stay at United, play his final year out and see how things went. Which obviously meant he likely walked away for free after we got relegated.

He was apparently told he would be frozen out and not kick a ball if he didn’t either sign an extension with us or leave for the highest fee we could get. So he left.

He’d got it in mind he’d do alright in the prem and get a better club and a decent signing on fee if he played out his final year.

He wasn’t bought injury prone he was bought as a young lad with promise. Bogle gets injuries because of the nature of his game and football, Phil Jagielka was a very good player and he was hardly injured but not every player is physically capable of those demands at a high level. Leeds haven’t bought an injury prone player they’ve bought a player and a good one at that. The season we went up we were gutted when he got injured but it was like having a quality signing when he returned.

The vast majority of clubs are loss makers.
The prince has obviously got fed up of propping our losses up.
We were told it would be a minimal spend last season and we’d need to sell 1/2 players this year for decent fees to balance the books.

We’ll probably sell Souza for £20m then bring in Grimes and McLean for 1/4 of that

Sell Anel for 12-15m and bring in Worral for £4m and leave the door open to re sign Egan in a couple of months if he gets fit

Sell Bogle for £5m and bring in Burrows for £3m and Drameh for free.

Hopefully bring back McBurnie too

Might see an income of £30-40 and a spend of 10/12.
