Evening all! Roygbiv and I discuss the Barnsley win, Billy Sharp's hamstring (and "considerable backside", oddly), the relief of reaching the international break, goal machine Sander Berge, an interesting cameo from McBurnie, and plenty more.

Thanks, once again, for listening.

Thanks guys. Greatly appreciated as always.

John Egan is the second coming of Kryten btw! Claude Davies was the original. I’ve never seen someone head a ball at 90 degree angles when they connect in the middle of their foreheads before. To have had 2 is an amazing achievement!
Blimey, it’s even possible there’s been three of them…if you include Nyron Nosworthy

Think you were a bit harsh with your off the cuff comment on Hourihane.

He's put some very decent balls in of late.

It was he that skillfully picked out Berge against Coventry. Saturday obviously. Then he out an absolute beautiful curling cross in at home - Boro maybe? Where Billy was just offside.

Need to get him more in there sort of position. He's historically been a scorer too. Hopefully he can find his shooting boots.

Always enjoy the pod.

Yeah that's definitely fair. He's been so much better in these last few months and does have that bit of quality that a lot of others don't.

Hello S2,

Roygbiv and I recorded a pod this evening, talking a little about our new Croatian central defender, but mainly revisiting our squad rankings from back in November - recorded immediately after the Blackburn shellacking, when Jokanovic was still the manager. This was done in terms of ranking players from "who we'd most like to keep and build around" all the way down to "this player is actively harming us, please lose them as soon as possible". Needless to say, there's been quite a bit of movement from those November rankings to today.

Thank you for listening!

Oh and here's our original list from November (we omitted youth players who hadn't really featured, and also on-loan players who we felt were unrealistic signings at the time - MGW and Robin Olsen).

1Iliman Ndiaye
2Billy Sharp
3Daniel Jebbison
4John Egan
5George Baldock
6Sander Berge
7Ben Osborn
8David McGoldrick
9Jack O'Connell
10Ben Davies
11Rhys Norrington-Davies
12Chris Basham
13Oli Norwood
14Rhian Brewster
15Lys Mousset
16Jayden Bogle
17Wes Foderingham
18Oli McBurnie
19Adlene Guedioura
20John Fleck
21Michael Verrips
22Enda Stevens
23Max Lowe
24Jack Robinson
25Luke Freeman
26Oli Burke
27Conor Hourihane

Afternoon all,

Unfortunately Roygbiv is under the weather and can't spake, so my cunning plan - of relying entirely on his in-depth analysis and boots-on-the-ground reporting for the Stoke game while I pushed a 2-year-old on a swing instead of streaming the match - has regrettably gone up in smoke.

Nonetheless! Here is 15 minutes of me previewing tomorrow night's QPR game, off the back of the Stoke loss, for anyone who would like to listen. Thank you.

I'd have liked his side of the story regarding feytin' over a packet of Space Raiders, make sure you ask him in the next pod please.

It wasn't a fight at all. He took some of said crisps. Then I did the same. It was clickbait for listeners.
I’m glad you’ve both agreed to spare each other’s blushes on what really happened. Perhaps for the best. Cctv still images say otherwise….

Evening evening, Roygbiv is feeling his way back to full fitness but, unlike Lys Mousset, managed to make it through 45 minutes - talking about the QPR game, Uremovic's debut, a fine showing from Fleck, our excellent home record under Heckingbottom, and our upcoming game with Bournemouth.

Thanks for listening!

Afternoon S2, hope everyone's doing well.

Roygbiv and I have got our latest episode here, talking about a point v Bournemouth, more bizarre officiating, some missed chances, Morgan Gibbs-White getting Bishop Brennan-ed, a comedy throw-in routine, Guedioura making a surprise appearance, Reading at home, father/son manager/player combos, oh and Neil Warnock's theoretical retirement from football.

Appreciate you listening, thanks!

Re. Father/Sons Manager/Players - I think we faced Gary Johnson's Bristol City team a few times in the 00's with his son, Lee in the lineup.

Great shout! Completely forgot those two.

Lee did indeed play against us, probably multiple times, with his dad Gary managing - here's one:

Incidentally I don't think Steve Bruce ever managed Alex Bruce in a match against us. Transfermarkt reckons Alex has only played against us for Ipswich, Leeds and Wigan, none of whom were managed by Bruce at the time. He was on the bench for the FA Cup semifinal but didn't come on.

(Yes, I should research this in advance rather than just riffing blindly on the pod)

Great lineup that, but a little weird - were we playing Webber out on the wing?

Brian and Nigel Clough seems to be an obvious one.

Alex and Darren Ferguson might be another.

Great pod boys. A slightly alternative view on refs though. I am not their greatest advocate however when you have 22 players trying to con you all game, condoned by the manager, commentators and ex players you can see why they get it wrong.
They are poor in the championship without a doubt, but the way football has gone in the last 30 years means that football often does NOT decide games. Cheating, gamesmanship or poor refereeing often does.

Happy Easter to all - well, that was probably the shittest Good Friday since Jesus got nailed to a bit of wood, but Roygbiv and I managed to squeeze out 40 minutes of high-pitched ranting about it. On the plus side, at least we get chance to right the wrongs of Reading in less than 24 hours time?

Thanks for listening for the hardcore who do so ;) Now off to read Deadbat's rating for George Baldock...

Thanks he got 2 and was lucky to get that.

I do wonder whether GB needs an eye test. As much as I love him, not only is his depth/height perception so bad seemingly from his crossing but now he cannot distinguish when a ball is on and not over a line. Twice in consecutive hone games he has seen a ball over a line that noone else has. He even picked it up on Friday so convinced he was it was out? 😔
