Evening all! New pod here from myself and Roygbiv, celebrating a big win over West Brom and Steve Bruce. The Billy Sharp legend gets yet another chapter, star man George Baldock has a surprise star turn at LWB, and Jack Robinson plays enforcer. Plus, a preview of our game with Huddersfield.

Thanks very much for listening.

Out before a Tufty Club, what on earth is happening to the world!

This needs a bump. If you haven't listen before, you should.

Another great listen.

When your discussion turned to Billy vs King Keith, I got to wondering how they stack up statistically, and against my own hero, Brian Deane.

In the list of the Blades' top goal scorers of all time in terms of goals per game, Keith is 5th, Deano 6th and Billy 7th. Edwards is 0.55 goals per game, Deano 0.43 and Billy 0.39*. Jimmy Dunne is miles out in front on 0.83 goals a game.

Having been lucky enough to see all three, my personal order is Deano, Billy, Keith. Deano did it at the top level most consistently and played against better opposition. I only saw the tail end of Woodward and not Curry and because of that Deano is the best player I have seen in the red and white. Unplayable at times. Billy is a worthy second to Deane. Although I suspect had fortune not intervened, at some point JOC could have been top of my list.

*Wikipedia derived stats, so, you know...

Excellent as ever lads. Many thanks.

Good listen, guys.

On why Baldock started at LWB: Hecky said in his post-match interview that they'd noticed a lack of offensive production down the left--think he specifically mentioned balls into the box leading to "first contacts"--and that's why Baldock came in. In other words, RND's crossing isn't good enough.

Love the pod, but literally every time Beans opens with "my name's Ben..." I can't help but think of this damned programme and song that I had to endure for years when the kids were young

Does Roygbiv make a good "Small"?

Thanks fella - I’d completely forgotten that monstrosity from my daughters’ early years and now I’ll have a completely different view of Beans!

Cheers - I’ve heard this now, doesn’t totally stack up to me given that Baldock has been notoriously unproductive with the ball in basically his whole time with us - and raises further questions about why Lowe is still at Forest. But hey, it certainly worked in this game and was probably one of the better games from a Blades LWB all season (Enda has been surprisingly productive in his limited appearances this season, so presumably will be straight back into the team when fit if Heckingbottom is indeed being straight with us)

After Roy’s comments re Billy v King Keith I went off and checked which divisions their goals had been scored in. The position is as follows:

Billy (244 league goals, 112 for us):

Top tier: 6 (all for us)
2nd tier: 125 (55 for us)
3rd tier: 104 (51 for us)
4th tier 9 (none for us)

Keith (255 league goals, 144 for us):

Top tier: 0 (though he did score twice in the SPL for Aberdeen)
2nd tier: 98 (62 for us)
3rd tier: 111 (46 for us)
4th tier: 46 (35 for us)

There’s a lot to say about comparing the two, having seen both play. That deserves a longer post, and I’m not sure I’d necessarily pick Sharp as better than Edwards. It’s close. Deano, however, was better than both of them, and I don’t think there can be much argument about that (and there’s no shame in it - in my 40+ years only Jags comes close to him as our best player).

I have to admit I didn't realise Keith had got that many for us in the 2nd tier. For some reason it's easier to find footage of his third and fourth tier goals for us than ones he scored in the 2nd. Totally agree that Deane was better than both.

Evening all - quick and rough-round-the-edges podcast on today's Huddersfield game here, wanted to get one live in plenty of time before we play again. Actually more upbeat about that draw than I realised before I started talking to Roygbiv; he must just bring out my good side.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends, onto Hull!

Webding and Deadbat have now officially lost their USP. It’s a good job I enjoy listening to their inane rambling as well as the proper analysis that both pods manage to provide 👍🏼

Wait till ours is live in a few minutes. We discuss who makes the best crisps on the back of debating if they still make Ruffels and give a live climatic reveal of who Panda was in Masked Singer. You can't pay for this sort of stuff. Fortunately.

Were Ruffles the T Bone Steak ones?

I’m aware I’m answering myself but I’m thinking of Roysters.

Bladespod is the interesting documentary on your favourite subject

Tufty club is watching 2 drunk blokes giving each other piggy backs through your living room window.

Both are acceptable ways to spend time.

Great listen as always.
Forest are playing their cup tie on Monday 7th March after their game with us on the Friday.

Evening S2,

This is great, I feel like I've become captain positive again when it comes to United, as I actually thought we played well overall last night and win that game 9 times out of 10 with the chances created... even so, plenty of players have more to do if we're going to continue our catchup on the playoff places... Roygbiv and I review here, and also look ahead to the Swansea game.

Thanks so much for listening:

Afternoon all - ahh those optimistic vibes from the Hull game have certainly carried on into the weekend's match. Roygbiv and I discuss the Blades annihilating Swansea to power into the playoff places, a stunner from Gorgeous George, MGW being unplayable, Berge putting it together, and Norwood displaying another mini-masterclass, finishing apart.

Thank you very much as always for listening.

Actually genuinely looking forward to my commute on a crowded train tomorrow morning for an hour just so I can stick this on.

Much love and respect to you both.

Regarding the Baldock goal, you said it was almost two years to the day since his last goal?

His last goal was at Norwich away in December 2019.

Anyway, great listen as always.

👍🏼

Doh yeah, could've sworn that was January / February for some reason. Those last few months pre-Covid all blurred together :/

Thanks for listening (and correcting!)

I've just realised you were probably thinking of Stevens.

His last league goal was against Brighton on 22nd February 2020.

Although he did score against Southampton in the League Cup at the start of this season.
