When every transfer window is the same? We could legitimately check old threads every May-August and December-Feb and they would match who we are in for every time.

I know its not BBD's fault, or Phillips but jesus christ, why do we ALWAYS go for ex players as the "easy" option. Pretty hard to get excited.

The amount of teams this summer who took a risk on low budget foriegners that have started really well is insane, yet here we are signing a lad in his 30's thats played about 10 games in the last 6 months, all because "we know what he can offer, cos he's played for us before" bullshit.

It is almost as if we could have bought Bloom's laptop now that Ipswich can't use it but just chose not to do so and instead (checks notes) used our existing scouting notepad

Wilder.

There’s nothing new or exciting about us.

Probably because we pissed 30mill other wall on shit signings the last few years - the owners have given up.

  • Weve sold out 2 most exciting and creative players
  • We’ve signed the least amount of players in the division
  • 1 of which isn’t trusted to play and was never planned to be anything but cover
  • 1 of which has played for us before and is ‘fine’ a floor raiser but Not a ceiling raiser.
  • Our targets are all basically 30 years old which ain’t going to improve the fact We’ve the slowest team in the division.
  • our style of play has disappeared
  • we’re awaiting -12 points

As an aside I feel like our ultra defensive success in the prem when we finished 9th has basically taken any desire from wilder to take a risk and try and win games. We seem to play scared and too defensively.

Signing ex players might not be the most exciting thing but at least we know what we're getting out of them, granted Phillips has to do a lot this season to justify his transfer.

It's why a lot of managers go for ex players, because at times its safer than taking a risk on unproven players.

Think about our current situation, are we really in a position where we can afford to take too many risks, or does our situation mean that we need proven championship quality.

Donovan is a high risk signing due to his age and lack of senior game time at this level, so are Baptiste and Oné, can we really afford to take more risks than that.

BBD might not be the most exciting signing, but at least we know how good he is in the Championship.

Ive watched one today Berhalter at Middlesboro..signed him undisclosed (could be $2m dollars) from Vancouver White Caps (plays for USA) and he has slotted into the place vacated by the lad what now plays for Everton.

So bringing young talent or your own talent on is high risk

But bringing in over the hill injury prone 30 plus year olds on high wages isn’t ?
What a load of tosh

It’s bad recruitment and cowardly management and coaching

BBD will be a terrible signing and now it looks like Hamza will be back

We are a joke no long term plan when we had the money no vision just continue kicking the can down the road … or down the leagues

Yes bringing young talent (both yours and other teams) is high risk because you don't know if they're going make the required step up, like Louie Barry, Ben Woodburn, Ukaki, Alex Matos.

Yes Phillips is a risk, which is why I pointed out that he has to do a lot to justify his signing this season.

How is BBD a bad signing at this level, he's a goalscorer in this league and even playing out of position last time he was here, he still got a fair few goal contributions.

Okay Hamza might be coming back, he was solid enough and good at RB last time he was here, which as we saw yesterday we desperately need.

WE HAVE NEXT TO NO MONEY, WE NEED PLAYERS WHO WE KNOW, NOT RANDOM PUNTS (SEE THIS TIME LAST SEASON) WE ARE FISHING IN A NEW POND, SO HOW ABOUT GETTING BEHIND THE MANAGER, STAFF AND THE SQUAD RATHER THAN PISSING YOUR PANTS AT EVERY SIGNING WE MAKE!!!

Whatever!

In fact that is the one of the worst posts that I have seen on here over the last couple of weeks.

In the past 10 years (since June 2016) we have only been managed by Wilder and Hecky apart from 9 months when Slav was in charge for 6 months in 2021 and Selles was coach/manager for 3 months in 2025.

In June 2016 Wilder should have laid down strict plans and targets for the Academy that would reap results in the following 10 / 15 years.

Hecky in his time as coach / manager would have definitely signed up to that plan.

It's called developing a strategy - something we seem to be lacking today.

In 2026 we would be benefitting from that forward thinking.

We should know every player in Europe. Recruitment departments use computers and software these days.

We have had far more decent players through our academy than most clubs.

You're better asking CW

Why would the club try and incorporate some kind of long term strategy when it would likely mean those running the club at the moment would end up out of a job.

Since covid we have never planned beyond that of the coming season.

Anyone outside of Ahmedhodžić we bought and then 2 years later sold for more that cost us?

After the let downs on the last few weeks it feels both ironic and somewhat reflective to be watching The Cure live from Paris tonight 🙂

It's just a shame Wilder is reluctant to use them unless he absolutely has to. When he arrived the first time, one of the first things he did was tell a bunch of youngsters on the fringe of the first team that they werent wanted and they'd be sold without even seeing them play.

There were numerous times in the 20/21 Premier League season when we didn't even fill our bench - what kind of asshat would rather leave a third of the bench empty instead of putting some youngsters on there?

I think the issue is we’re completely reliant on Wilder.

Life under Selles proved that, Selles admitted I’m here to coach, the recruitment team sign the players for my system. During that time we brought in basically a load of panic signings on top money.

Wilder comes back & it’s his signings again. You watch other clubs documentaries and they have a huge team of analysts looking into each player & reviewing options.

I don’t blame Wilder at all, at the moment he’s doing more jobs than he should be.
