I know its not BBD's fault, or Phillips but jesus christ, why do we ALWAYS go for ex players as the "easy" option. Pretty hard to get excited.

The amount of teams this summer who took a risk on low budget foriegners that have started really well is insane, yet here we are signing a lad in his 30's thats played about 10 games in the last 6 months, all because "we know what he can offer, cos he's played for us before" bullshit.

There’s nothing new or exciting about us.

Probably because we pissed 30mill other wall on shit signings the last few years - the owners have given up.

• Weve sold out 2 most exciting and creative players
• We’ve signed the least amount of players in the division
• 1 of which isn’t trusted to play and was never planned to be anything but cover
• 1 of which has played for us before and is ‘fine’ a floor raiser but Not a ceiling raiser.
• Our targets are all basically 30 years old which ain’t going to improve the fact We’ve the slowest team in the division.
• our style of play has disappeared
• we’re awaiting -12 points

As an aside I feel like our ultra defensive success in the prem when we finished 9th has basically taken any desire from wilder to take a risk and try and win games. We seem to play scared and too defensively.

Signing ex players might not be the most exciting thing but at least we know what we're getting out of them, granted Phillips has to do a lot this season to justify his transfer.

It's why a lot of managers go for ex players, because at times its safer than taking a risk on unproven players.

Think about our current situation, are we really in a position where we can afford to take too many risks, or does our situation mean that we need proven championship quality.

Donovan is a high risk signing due to his age and lack of senior game time at this level, so are Baptiste and Oné, can we really afford to take more risks than that.

BBD might not be the most exciting signing, but at least we know how good he is in the Championship.

Ive watched one today Berhalter at Middlesboro..signed him undisclosed (could be $2m dollars) from Vancouver White Caps (plays for USA) and he has slotted into the place vacated by the lad what now plays for Everton.
