Yes, Brighton probably deserved a mention. It was that season's Chester, so to speak.

That Coventry game was Boxing Day 1991. All four of the home games v Coventry in that spell were awful (0-1, 0-3, 1-1, 0-0). Our only goal was an own goal by Andy Pearce.

I remember the 1990-1 Coventry home game. Lost 1-0 to a Brian Borrows pen after Cyrille Regis was tripped. Some Wednesdayite won several thousand pounds as he'd bet that we would not win any of our first 10 league matches and Wednesday would go unbeaten in the first 10 (which they'd already done). A depressing day. We didn't look like winning at all.

Games against Coventry, Palace, and Wimbledon at the Lane during that time were usually terrible.

That 0-3 defeat was the first time I'd left a game earlier than a few minutes before the end, after about 66 minutes. We were dreadful and it was absolutely freezing.

It was not to be the last time I left early, in 2023-24 when we were getting dicked 5, 6 and 8 nil, it was nearly every week!

First time I ever left early was that Sunderland game the season before. "United were at sixes and sevens. Or was it sixes and elevens". That was bad! Though the dross was easliy out-weighed by games like Forest and Man. U. I wouldn't want younger viewers getting the wrong impression.
