It’s funny isn’t it, that if we’d lost out in the play offs and assembled the current squad for this Championship season, I think we’d have been doing OK, almost certainly no one would have been suggesting a change of manager?

But automatic promotion, it seems has instilled unrealistic expectations in some of our supporters. After a measly £26m transfer spend, some are surprised at our lack of impact on the ‘best league in the world’. The fact is that we are in a relegation fight with about ten teams, so until we’ve played everyone at least once, we won’t really get a semi accurate picture of our chances.

But whatever, Heckingbottom hasn’t been financially backed to take a fair crack at the EPL, I think you’ve really got to feel for the bloke, he is the very epitome of a ‘victim of his own success’. Were he to be sacked, based on this seasons performance, it would be an absolute travesty after what he has achieved.
We don’t score and we conceed goals - it’s only going to end one way.

The chairman doesn’t want us - so sacking the manager is pointless.

We’ve also list team identity.

We are the weakest of the 3 promoted teams.

Burnley added to their squad.

Luton kept theirs together.

We sold our two best players and added some quality but lost some cohesiveness.

Jeez. Are we trying to take the limelight away from the pigs or somat?
The thought of JT on our bench and in our technical area makes me 🤮

Every club he's coached at have also had an iffy defence.

I’ve heard Warnock and Bassett as joint manager with Jags, Brown and in Jan Sharp coming in as coaching team.

I think Vinnie Jones is coming over to run our media side much like Wrexham.

Agreed, we’re almost certs for relegation, but I don’t blame PH for that.

Replacements being lined up.
I guess today is the day, anything less than a win and your past becomes a reality?!?

For me this was never under consideration and I think it was likely just papertalk.

IF we was foolish enough to sack Hecky whoever comes in will have the same issues, same finance, etc.

Hecky is building from youth upwards, top to the bottom of the club, results aside i think we're in a really good place - long may he continue as United's manager. .

Makes you laugh some of this, people talking about the Ipswich manager as a replacement, because ‘they play some really good stuff’.

Well what about that Paul Heckingbottom, he had Sheffield United playing some really good stuff in the same division less than six months ago. Such good stuff in fact, that they actually got promoted to the Premier League. All on a shoe string budget, whilst overseeing the development and continuity of academy players. Nah fuck him off

MADNESS

i doubt anybody will keep us up with the squad weve got so keeping hecky for another crack at the championship seems the most sensible decision having said that i just wish hecky would try something different tactics wise

I’m not sure how it’s the sensible decision? So what happens if we get promoted? We give Hecky another crack at the premier league? Not a chance. We need someone who’s tactically astute, who has a game plan. He’s pretty much still running Wilders tactics. A worse version

I'm not one desperate to sack hecky but.... we aren't getting better at all.

Look at the league table, we are one win from 4th bottom (on points, aware of bad goal difference)

Relegation is not a foregone conclusion, we can finish 4th bottom, we cannot with Hecky in charge though that is now abundantly clear. We need to be quick and make a change and really have a go.

He will take up his old role
Cant see it, think once he's gone then he's totally gone.

Im still not sure sacking Hecky will make much difference to this season, what I do know is 100% Harry Potter will not be taking over, his stock is way too high to be managing us.

yeah fair point 👍

Let’s see if the original poster was lieing.

Can't see that. I'd like that to happen but he has done enough with us to be in contention for championship jobs when they come up.

Don’t doubt he would be on teams radar but he’s a local guy who lives locally. He had given up on the managerial thing tbh and seemed happy doing what he was doing. Recall him saying at the end of the PL campaign that he was looking forward to going back to what he was doing.

Why go spend a year miles away from home and get sack when you can have longevity on your door step?

For me he has to go, luckily we had Ndiaye last season or we wouldn't have gone up. He's running off Wilders tactics and can't come up with his own plan b, add that with constant injuries albeit Bash's and Egan's were freak ones it's all a bit shite.

That being said if Dean Smith is going to be a replacement I'll take another 5 points in 7 month

I wanted him to turn this around but currently it looks like the players aren't playing for him.

So very sad, but I suppose that IF they are going to make a change, now would be the best time as it gives a new manager a bit of time to work with the players before the next game.

I hope to fuck it's not Wilder though. We need new ideas, not a return to the guy who riveted 3-5-2 onto the club in the first place.
