If you were Tom Cannon....

You’re right but the difficulty is he’s not quick enough to trouble defenders with those runs, even when the pass comes. How often has he got clear of a defence in behind in his entire time here?

His goal at Burnley a couple of seasons ago showed great movement and finishing. That’s the reason we paid money. But it’s very low percentage stuff, especially for a weaker team (as we are now) to produce regularly.

I’d love us to unlock what he has. But I think the odds are very slim.
I think it will be another brewster moment, signed for decent fee (albeit lower than his) fans willing him to come good. Wilders stubbornness and by end of it all he will leave for free with very little stats added.

I think people need to chill out with Cannon

It wasnt £10 million it was 4/5 million rising to 10 if he wins the balondor

Even if it was it wasnt your money nor mine

We need to leave him be and back him on the pitch

If you Boo him then you are a forking moron of the highest order and probably eat woodchippings for breakfast

Troy Parrot scpred 10 goals in about 100 EFL games now wet spam want him for 25 million

There is a player in Cannon maybe he needs time and confidence
You are right on this, he will always get my support whilst he is in our shirt. So will all the players (Even Shackleton I would love to see turn round his fortunes)

But I think the issue with Cannon is now where he sits in the CF pecking order and what formation we play.

Bamford is clearly first choice
Campbell just had an extended contract and should be into his "prime", rather than now "developing". On a good day, he is a proven Championship CF
One. The supporters want to see him having the opportunity to develop and even in the 5 minutes on Saturday, he showed he can bring something.

Where does Cannon sit in all this, because to my mind, he is behind One. If we play 2 up top, he gets game time. If we don't, when are we playing him?

On a slightly different note Billy Sharp scored 8 in 51 in his 2nd spell back in the Championship (He scored 30 goals in League one the season before.) playing alongside some decent players with good service, with people like Keith Gillespie, Gary Speed and playing alongside Beattie/Stead/Hulse. Beattie still managed to bang home 22 goals that season some how. Cannon is a year older than Billy was then, and still could be capable if we played with a bit of urgency and spread the defenders about, hoof ball unless you win the 2nd ball is never going to work for us but if it doesn't work out for Cannon I am sure he will find a club be nice to get a fee though.

....would you be looking at what fans are saying about you, ie, not running the channels, not holding up the ball up, not showing for the ball and being totally innocuous during games. Would you think to yourself " I need to show them what i can do" instead of carrying on week after week looking totally lost?
I can't get why he remains so static instead of putting himself about and at least showing a bit of fight and effort.
Everyone would love him to turn it around but sadly i think his ship has sailed.
For me it's "if I was wilder " and start wondering why most of the supporters see how crap he is and I keep picking him.

The skill of an attacker isn't only his finishing, his timing, his movement, his pace, one of the biggest skills necessary is their positional sense. Being in the right place at the right time. It's not the midfields job to put it on the exact square 6 inches every move. It's their job to put in into good 'areas'. Repeatedly. It's the job of a good attacker to read the game, see the spaces and position themselves in said 'areas' repeatedly. That's where Cannon is falling down. He can't read the game/other players well enough to put himself into the right place at the right time.
See One’s first run with the ball for an example. Clipped ball into the channel and it took 3 of them to get the ball off him and they still gave away a throw.

Makes you wander what they practice on the training ground!! Or if they practice at all??? (Sarcasm)

still don't understand where the valuation come from he's a penalty taker between him brewster and shackleton for worse business ever done at united

If I was Tom Cannon I would constantly be pissing myself laughing on the floor for being paid good money to be so shit at football.
was going to say similar. In his shoes I'd just keep taking the money and putting in the building society, retire at 30.

edit: except I wouldn't cos I worked with people like that and I hated them for it.

Sure the value of £10m is made up of his initial fee, performance related fees and wages spread over the length of his contract.
It suited everyone to exaggerate the value.
Not even sure if Wilder wanted him, subsequently is he only playing as the owners want him to?

Sharp was a natural finisher I’m not sure Cannon is a natural footballer, let alone knows how to finish
