My opinion on PH keeps changing. In spite of the poor results, I’ve been generally satisfied with performances. The tactical change against Newcastle at half time, made us significantly worse in the second half. It was bewildering. Keeps playing on my mind.

The response on Saturday will say a lot, about PH AND the players. I fear that Sunday will have a damaging effect on the season as a whole. We just never lose games in that manner.

I hope I’m wrong though. I hope PH turns things around.

Just out of interest, what do people think a new manager will do, seeing as he will have to work with the same players?

Fans wanted Hamer, we got Hamer, fans wanted Archer, we got Archer, fans wanted McAtee back, we got McAtee back.

This is not some sort of trick question, I am genuinely interested in how people on here think a new manager will change things, what would he do with the players, how would he set up, etc?

We have a team where the central midfield has zero pace and are on our 2nd and 5th choice wing backs. Our "best" performances are deemed to have been against Spurs and Man City where we sat back and like it or not this needs to be the setup going forward. We're not good enough going forward to compensate for the shitshow when attacked.

Considering the only comment someone had on the game in the pub yesterday was "that number 20 didn't look like a professional footballer" and that the only way we were going to ever threaten Newcastle in the absence of any height to hoofball to was with pace, Traore for Bogle was fine for me

Changing to a back four was disastrous. I understand why he did it, from an attacking point of view, but it was patently the wrong decision. We went from conceding goals in controversial circumstances while playing relatively well, to conceding totally inept goals. Our attacking play didn't improve following the change either. The performance in the second half was unprofessional.

OK, so what would you have done different to try to salvage a point, or would you just have been happy with defending a three goal deficit?

Sacrificing a defender was always on the cards but putting 4ft 11in Bennie on against the land of the giants was suicidal and a stupid decision by Hecky, it is those kinds of decisions that really leave you scratching your head....should have been another in the middle, Slimane probably the only option, as it was there we were getting over-run....push McAtee further forward just behind Archer...

The best some can come up with is Wilder or Warnock says it all about a notable section of our fanbase.

Sacking Hecky now would be grossly disrespectful to what he's done under the circumstances and nothing short of idiotic unless he's suddenly shown a lack of commitment behind the scenes, which I highly doubt.

We've had one terrible result but nearly pulled off a couple of incredible ones. All with a squad put together late though no fault of the manager and with one that a blind man on a flying horse can see isn't good enough either in 11 positions or depth.

I'm not blaming the owner for not having the money or believing that being frugal is the sensible approach but making Hecky a scapegoat this early would seriously make me lose all time for him.

Palace - could easily have been 4 or 5 nil
Forest - Dreadful first half, Forest could have been out of sight.
Man City - They could have had 6 tbf
Everton - the only game so far this season where we merited a result and the draw was probably fair
Spurs - a very spirited display, but another one where it could be argued that Spurs should have been out of sight
Newcastle - the heaviest defeat in our history

Our approach has been that of a non-league team in a cup tie, if that's truly as good as it's going to get then we may scrape a couple of wins this year, but that's it. I'm struggling to accept that even with the players we've got that there isn't another way.

I like PH, he's had the rug pulled from under him, but have we really devolved so spectacularly that we are basically a non-league team in the prem? That's the bit I am struggling with.

Of course it would be a suicidal decision if we continued to hoof it forwards rather than looking to play directly, but lower balls intended to send the strikers in behind, bypassing their height advantage.

Unfortunately. Even if he went into the season with players sold..... it's a results business.

If we get hammered in the next 2 games I think the board will pull the trigger.

If we get a reaction and players are seen to be fighting back he might save himself.

Might sound bonkers but I'd have not changed the players like you said and gone a bit unorthodox.
I'd have maybe stuck Anel up with Archer and tried to go direct. Archer needs a foil which is why McBurnie works well. I could see him working ok with Osula or Jebbo. But Traore also needs a big un. So more of a swap for archer in a game.

We tried to attack on Sunday. Pushed a CM much further forward. Newcastle had 10 shots in the last 15 minutes of the 1st half.

A squad lacking quality or the players to sustain attacks is going to get shown up if it tries to play on an equal footing. Shutting up shop against the teams owned by billionaires and countries is the only way to have a prayer of keeping it close
