Was a quality player for us. Link up runs passing was great. If he was better at shooting (not saying he was terrible) I think he'd have played at higher level.

Like others said if he could shoot he'd have many more premier league caps under his belt. We got alot of luck from players that did nothing before around the same time.

He did love the strike. He was more accurate bending the ball from 25 yards out, than passing it into an open goal from 6 yards.... Wish we still had him.
Spot on. He could score the shots you didn't think he couldn't, but would miss the ones that you thought he would.

Still, a class player and a joy to watch.

Notts County fans love him.

Who’d have thought it?
Ex winger Mark Duffy was given a free role and told to roam around that area between midfield and attack.

He was impossible to pick up because of his constantly changing position, this was famously called “the Duffy role”.

When Duffy left we wondered how we would progress going forward and to everyone’s surprise McGoldrick had the intelligence to play that floating position even better.

Even at Premier league level in some games he stood out as one of the best players on the pitch. Him and Duffy are 2 of my favourite players this century.

As you say….a joy to watch and a humble, great guy too. He could play at a higher level and earn more money but it’s so typical of him to finish his career playing for the club he supported as a boy.

Didzy at his best. Class.

Thought it was worth sharing.

Ah, this is quality. There are some ex-players who I’ll follow with slight interest eg McB, Ndiaye recently. Mainly because they’re playing at a high level and am vaguely intrigued how they’ll get on.

But there are some players who make me still feel almost like a fan and I’ll actively want them to smash it, even to the point of hoping their clubs do well (except against us, obv). Didsy is one. Legend and top bloke, like so many of that vintage.

Can’t believe he was struggling for a start at the back end of last season. Absolute baller

Am off to Doncaster next Saturday to see Billy and McGoldrick on opposite sides.
