Really???? Don't think so .Yes, silly buggers, sounds like a place for neanderthals.
Hulls history of 500 years as the city that abolished slavery.
So a blackboard with chalk is replaces by a white board with pens isn't that racist ?

Its a historic name, give it a rest you melt!Is there really a pub called the Black Bhoy in Hull in 2024. I thought that sort of racist nonsense had died out in the 80s
Top man , it's also a gay bar nowadays so I suppose he's against that .Its a historic name, give it a rest you melt!
Sky TV I F S.Shame it's Friday night , Hull is always a good trip ,not too far ,great pubs in the old town and very good fish n chips .

There used to be one in Tottenham, but it closed amidst some furure about the name. There's the Black Boy Inn in Retford too. Does a decent pint.
It's called history mate and I get sick of idiots trying to erase it.And giving their pubs racist names too
I know!Is there really a pub called the Black Bhoy in Hull in 2024. I thought that sort of racist nonsense had died out in the 80s
I think Pool of Colour and Burn of Colour would be more appropriate. The black bhoy pub in hull offends nobody , white or black it's part of hulls history , a city that abolished slavery .
As above should we change Blackpool or Blackburn incase it offends ????
Maybe whitepool or Whiteburn ?
Take away history you take away education .
Friday 13 March, 1970, beat Carlisle at home 1-0 with a Woodward free-kick. We never drop points or let goals in on Friday 13th. FactHave we played in Friday 13th before? Silent Blade don't know if you have an answer![]()
I missed the match as I was recovering from the Hong Kong flu. I hadnt realised we were playing that night but my dad didnt tell me because I would have insisted on going. When he came back he drew a diagram on his cigarette packet of how the goal was scoredFriday 13 March, 1970, beat Carlisle at home 1-0 with a Woodward free-kick. Why was it played on a Friday, it must have been rare in those days?I missed the match as I was recovering from the Hong Kong flu. Racist ? Really ? It’s an old naval saying referring to channels, learn from history instead of spouting rubbish like that.Is there really a pub called the Black Bhoy in Hull in 2024. I thought that sort of racist nonsense had died out in the 80s
Police advice cos of Man U v Leeds FA Cup semi final at S6 on Saturday 14thWhy was it played on a Friday, it must have been rare in those days?
It's not a bad night out either, me and the Mrs been going for a night every year for the last 6 years, going again at the end of October.I know we used to chant "shity hull" to them but it's actually not a bad place with a rich history . Still has its issues but the place has changed alot since the 80's .
Not a holiday destination but a decent afternoon out .
There used to be a pub called the Blackamoor Head in Selby back in the day, don’t know if it’s still thereThere used to be one in Tottenham, but it closed amidst some furure about the name.
There's a pub called the Black Prince in London. Also the Thin White Duke in Soho.
Wouldn’t that be ‘black buoy’?Racist ? Really ? It’s an old naval saying referring to channels, learn from history instead of spouting rubbish like that.
Cheers, that’s interesting, possibly links to Hull’s seaport history. You are correct with the title, I didn’t really know 100% as it was a pick up on racism, which I dislike but people are far too touchy about things and wish for everything to be abolished. Learn from history ! It was named after a Moroccan lad who worked there a long, long time ago so he would have been unique I suppose.
Absolutely,a lot of people are totally ignorant towards it all including some of my mates unfortunately. I went to Zanzibar a few years ago to learn much more about the trade,an eye opener even for me. Loved it but harrowing.Cheers, that’s interesting, possibly links to Hull’s seaport history.
We can all learn from history, and I agree it seems some can be over sensitive to perceived racism over a pub name.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying people want to abolish everything though, a lot of questioning language is both well meaning and often well argued. I reckon it is better to talk it through rather than simply demonising whoever you disagree with.
I live in Hull now, and I can confirm they’re the real cesspits..I lived in Hull for a couple of years.. Mixed emotions about the place tbh. Had some great nights in the Adelphi, Welly, Spiders and the Haworth Arms... Its a tough city though and got into my fair share of scrapes.![]()
I’d change Ladybower Reservoir to ‘Non-binary bower’ as well if I were Prime Minister. Mansfield to ‘Themsfield’.I think Pool of Colour and Burn of Colour would be more appropriate.
Mebbes.......
Pretty sure I know you Derby and met you a few times. Used to be at Handsworth? MS?A couple
