David McGoldrick

McGrath was amongst the best players to have worn the shirt. Even for those few games right at the end of his career he looked so far ahead of everyone else on the pitch. Truly world class, and I don’t think any other player who has played for the Blades has reached those levels with the possible exception of Kyle Walker in the last 2 years.

Imagine what he could have been if he hadn’t been a drunk. I was talking to one of his former teammates at Villa recently and he was telling me about the routine of up to 8 pints before a home game.
Before a game! ?

True, there are not many other blades that could have kept prime Roberto Baggio in their back pocket like McGrath did at World cup 94

Yes. The guy I was talking to was a part of the excellent Villa back four & played alongside him for a few seasons.

When he got his big money transfer to Villa as a young player the team used to stay in a hotel before home games. On the day of his debut McGrath collared him as a taxi driver and he had to wait in the car whilst McGrath “dropped off match tickets” at 4 different pubs as they made their way to Villa Park. He later discovered that this happened before every home match - the same 4 pubs at the same time and each of them had 2 pints waiting on the bar for him which he would just down. He always selected a young player to chauffeur him around.

Bloody Nora. I did read his book a long time ago and he had some dark struggles but I didn’t realise it manifested itself like that. I find that incredibly sad. Basically self sabotage. That’s some tolerance levels to be able to do that once let alone regularly.

Was it Sean Teale? I thought him and McGrath were terrific for Villa in that team big Ron put together after promising not to leave Wendy (snigger).

Client confidentiality prevents me from naming my source. He is someone who is still involved in the professional game.

Watched the Last 30 minutes, what great entertainment, Didzy class still shines through and thought he'd won it for county late on with a cool finish

They'll get hammered.

They seem to lose every week but are still 6th somehow.
I know. I took my grandson 15 year ago to our match at Meadow Lane and he seems to have had this thing about Notts County ever since. We have to go once a season, like a pilgrimage. Just coincidence it’s Stockport.

Seem being the operative word.

I've had them on a few bets this season and they've fucking lost every single time.

😅😅

Most recent one was on New Year's Day when they were winning at Tranmere and ended up losing 4-2.
Yeah they’ve done my acca a couple of times too.

Fucking pompey yesterday

Likes Hooters already then??

Just checked it was Jan 19, 2013, will be 11 years bar one day on Saturday. Spooky

As much as that was a great game to watch a special mention needs to go to the commentator:

"If you ever want to see a penalty taken like that then look no further than that effort"

Poetry 😂
He then re-used that format later, with “if you ever need someone to score a goal, look no further than David McGoldrick”.
Needs to mix things up a bit, although I guess 10 goals really tests your use of hyperbole!

Imagine if he'd commentated on us during the Adkins Season: "If you ever need to see how to miss an open goal, look no further than Conor Sammon."
