Not sure I understand the reference . If we’re talking about the Royal Philharmonic they’re very different venues - Adelphi might hold 200 folk at a (tight) squeeze & you’d be hard pressed to distinguish between the actual toilets & the club / dance floor/ bar itself !
I’m convinced I survived Covid because my immune system was developed / enhanced through regular attendance at the Adelphi.
I was talking about the toilets. I went in the early 70s and remember the quality of the fittings and brilliant upkeep of all the copper and brass.

Correct on both counts - wouldn’t really call him a ‘bouncer’ - it wasn’t that sort of ‘vibe’ - no doubt some folk would call it & the clientele ‘woke’ today - a superb community (in both senses of the word) venue
The premises were nothing more than a (3 bed) terraced house that had been converted - fuck knows how the folk next door got any sleep

Yeah Bouncer was probably a stretch! I seem to recall him going to the same comp. as me and my brothers (city) in Sheffield....I can fondly remember the Welly club having Red Stripe on draught...lovely stuff but lethal for the 19 year-old self. 😂 😂

Welly is still going & get some decent bands on (trying to create a ‘pension pot’) seen Wedding Present Big Country recently got tickets for Skids(+ Spear Of Destiny), Ferocious Dog , Lovely Eggs- sadly many of the alehouses @ that lower end of Beverley Rd now shut - sometimes get a decent pint of Stones, or always a shite pint of Mansfield !!!
Did you ever get to Spiders or Silhouette (excellent source of ‘chemical sustenance’ in early 90’s - apparently/ allegedly?) or Rays Place (ostensibly a curry house) if preference was for ‘recreational cigarettes

Ahhhh nostalgia - not what it used to be
Much maligned is ‘ull but I’d happily return albeit that’s a low bar living in Sunderland & being born in Wath

Ha ha Spiders... Used to go there quite a bit. Decent music, cheap drinks. I used to drink in the Mainbrace and Haworth Arms mainly. Hull in the late 80s was no different from Sheffield. Working class and a tough place to live. 😂

(Regrettably?!) I was barred from the ale houses you mention towards top of Beverley Road along with others in the vicinity such as Queens, Avenues, Botanic & (somewhat bizarrely given the clientele) the Polar Bear, following a frank exchange of views with the BNP in The Avenues.
Even after the bruising & swelling had subsided I was still distinctive in appearance hence frequenting lower Beverley Road (Bull; Station; Swan Rose, Park, Spring Bank Tavern )they didn’t give a flying fuck who they served.
A personal favourite was the St John’s (en route to Adelphi from our house) a great source of fish, single malts, Levi’s & other ‘knock off from the docks with the most obnoxious ‘bar maid’ in the world - wouldn’t serve anyone whilst Coronation Street was on TV ! Saw her throw a pint including the glass at someone who called her Ena Sharples.
Anyroad, owt happening at Bramall Lane ?

Not visited Hull much before but went today to see our granddaughter in a ballet show there, so we made a day of it and all went to The Deep before. The view of the marina and dock area off the top floor balcony where the cafe is was amazing, has whetted my appetite to go and see some of these places you've mentioned!

Saw Hull was at home to the Mackems so I made sure we steered clear of that part of town 🤣

Hi pal
Shame I didn't know you were around , I'm in hull now till Wednesday.
Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully you saw the old town area ?
The people are so friendly and the city is beautiful.
It's also very close to beverley , bridlington and Scarborough by train .
I'm back again next week.
When you said Sunderland were there I was a few myself but on my birthday in July Newcastle played at hull and took 6 thousand for a friendly , they swamped hull it was unreal and some didn't go home till the Monday.
I'm in the admiral wetherspoons hotel .

Am I correct in thinking you live in Derby.

I went down there on Saturday and had a drink in a few of the real ale pubs near the Station. The Merry Widows, Alexandra and the Brunswick. I’d really recommend the Brunswick, one of the best pubs I’ve been in for ages

Mate your correct and those pubs I can walk to in 20 minutes . I actually live within a stones throw of pride park.
Regards your pub selections. I refuse to drink in the brunswick .
It is owned by a smug pig fan .
I barred myself from going in , his attitude is horrible and hos I haven't broke his haw is beyond me and my ex Mrs dragged me away a few times .
Literally can't stand the bloke .
The best real ale pubs in derby are in my own order.
FURNACE
FIVE-LAMPS
FALSTAFF
SEVEN STARS
FLOWERPOT
SMITHFIELD
shardlow down the road has 8 pubs within 5 minute walk .
The pubs near derby Station on matchday are home only but not to my taste ,
City centre is 10/15 minutes away but head north of the city to FIVE LAMPS AREA or CHESTER GREEN AREA
We blades had a pub at Thulstan run by a Woodhouse blade but he's moved now .
There's lots of blades in derby at least 30 I know of .
I live between derby and hull , a few days in each.
Next time you're down please message me I will show you much better places .

Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully you saw the old town area ?

Was hoping to, but didn't get time, plus with 6 year old and 4 year old grandkids I realised after it was never gonna happen they'd have been bored.

Only other time I've been was about 15 years ago, went to see the Humber bridge and walked part ways across, then went to Spurn Head (nice and quiet) and then had a look at Withernsea (wasn't reyt impressed).

I didn't know about the old town until seeing your posts on here, so hopefully next time.
