I hope he he can be the player we know he can be but I just have a nagging Holmes / carruthers feeling to it.

That thought has also crossed my mind. I’ve said it before, but we’ve tried that position repeatedly with others that we thought had the attributes to do the role Duffy does, and it’s repeatedly not really worked out. McGoldrick is probably the best alternative we’ve had there, probably followed by Dowell. Brooks looked a bit lost there rather than playing off Clarke. Carruthers had flickers of promise in League 1 that disappeared rapidly once we were promoted. Holmes similarly failed to step up, while Woodburn never adjusted and was even worse in other positions he played in off the bench.

I think ultimately we’ll have to adjust our game in the same way as we did when Norwood filled the Coutts gap. He was never going to do exactly the same role, and perhaps the ultimate solution will be not to find someone to replicate Duffy’s contribution, but to evolve it.

Drop the nagging doubts. If Feeman signs he will do a splendid job for us next season, both in the number 10 role (sharing that responsibility with Duffy) and out wide when it suits. I would go as far as to say i think he would step up and be a fine signing for us. He has the ability too, no question. Hes in a different ball park to Holmes and Carruthers and he will know that now is his time to shine.

And CW has liked him as a player for a long time, this lad was lined up to be a Blade a while back by our management. Finances now allow it to happen. I will be pleased when he signs.

I remember some of us going wax lyrical about another small pacy midfielder callllllled Otzumer. Went to Bolto, that worked out well

If you were a small pacy midfielder, can't think of a worse place to attempt to showcase your skills.

Had he gone to Brentford, for example, he may have kicked on.

In the games ive seen him ive been impressed by his work rate, against Leeds he was absolutely everywhere and frightened the life out of them.Think he would do well for us in the duffmeister role

Parkinson never played him, just talked about needing creativity after they lost even though he'd left his most creative player out of the match day squad for the umpteenth time.

Can never understand some fans defending Blackwell as a manager. He was completely fkin awful and as mentioned above, didnt seem to have a footballing brain. And before anyone says 'well he got us to a play off final against Burnley' etc then my response would be 'we got there despite having that clown in charge'. My dead Grandma could have got that side to at least the play offs when you see who we had playing for us that season. He was very very poor....and the vast majority of the players never seemed to buy into his management (though there have since been rumours of why that seemed to be the case).

To be fair, Blackwell took over from Robson so that obviously made him seem a much better manager than he actually was.

Blackwell was average at best, Robson was fucking awful!

Oh i would definitely agree that despite how bad 'Crasse n Blackwell' was, he was still far better than Nobson. He took incompetence to a new level.

I had such high hopes for Robson, England legend and all!
I think we played fantastic football under Spackman, it took me a good while to get over that fiasco let me tell you.
I can admit I was sceptical about Wilders appointment at first (especially after the first handful of games sweet Jesus!! Haha) but I don't think I've ever been happier. The football we play is revolutionary! I know this season is going to be a challenge but if anyone can keep us up CWAK can .. and then the World's our oyster after that! UTB

Would be a great Asset if we can pull this one off but the "Bitter" rivals with weeds is somewhat confusing. Do they mean "Bitter" as in Bitter Lemon or as in a gallon of Magnet ? Tis beyond me some of this terminology a d why they bother to use it in the first place. UTB

Just a hunch. Been playing 12 years, had a few clubs and never signed for anyone North of Stevanage.

Don't need to know him perosnally to spot a trend.
The financial markets have trends but they don't equal predictable facts, it could be argued? There are many factors to consider in every circumstance don't you think? Wilder,Knill and Bettis won't have taken a similar stance to yours. Think they might have a different hunch,if indeed media speculation is to be believed.UTB

Maybe, and like I said earlier in the thread [as I have numerous times before on here] I really hope we sign this lad. I have wanted us to for ages.

I just think that geography and relocation can play a significant part in players choosing whether or not to move. He may well jump at the chance to move up north if it gives him PL football. Or he may welcome the interest and hang on to see if a Palace or Watford [for instance] get wind and fancy a punt on him. He may also be very happy living in West London as an already wealthy young man. He may be settled with a partner, or not want to move too far from family.

Hopefully we can lure him, because I think this lad is a baller and would absolutely thrive with us. Just have a feeling we won't though, but would love to be proven wrong.

Sheffield is 2 hours on the train its not like its...Scotland.

2 hours. Unless a guy at Leicester is suicidal so your train gets delayed there. Rather than wait the half hour it took to get him down without harm the train then decides to go a different way adding 40/50 mins to your trip. Can't grumble too much i guess. Then a landslide hits this new way and you'll have to turn back and you have to get 190 people off a stuck train onto yours while on flooded tracks and seeing the water flow downhill to the direction you are going. Still the train driver gives it a go against all common sense but has to give up the ghost so you go back that 500 yards you've been stuck at for 5 hours at this point. Then you and the other train load of passengers have to be evacuated one by one down a ladder and then put on a coach to Kettering where....you stand around without being told anything other than you'll get a free taxi at Kings Cross as its now a 2am arrival into london instead of 4pm. And then when you finally get on this train to london someone falls ill at Luton Parkway and you have to wait half a hour for a paramedic to come on the train when its only 20 or so mins to London. Once you get into london the taxi promise is a farce and it becomes every man woman and child for themselves before you finally get home at 4am.

But yeah. London to sheffield is a doddle.

Have you considered therapy?

Have you considered therapy?

Yes. I'll pay for it out of my refund. Ticket cost £11 and i only have to wait a few months to get it back. I didn't even mention the people having panic attacks on the train or the fact our luggage wasn't allowed off. Including people going to download festival. With their tents. Having just flown in from the USA.

Reconsider 🤔

Nixon says the bid should be in by tomorrow and Gage on Twitter says somethings happening Monday.

Soooooo, I expect nothing tomorrow other than me getting a bollocking for checking my phone too much at work.
