That's footballing life cruel but fair. Correction just cruel, are there any other players with release clauses? Maybe at Hull, we owe those bastards after pinching Quinn off us.

Strange one if that’s the case as they might as well have just accepted the £5m that Boro offered last summer. I assume it was added in his recent contract extension but why agree to it if you could have got more for him.
 
Dack- nowt special, over rated.
Freeman- good little player, and might be useful in our system.
McBurnie looks a Wilder player, grafts and scores goals. My only doubt is if he will make the step up.

So freeman yes, McBurnie yes.
Dack...not for me.
 
Wish we'd got him 6 years ago when he went for peanuts to Stevenage - he was on loan when we played them and everyone who saw him in those games was impressed.

At £4m though it's still a really decent deal and he is probably the best realistic signing we could make in this position. Really hope this comes off.
 
Great news.

What a perfect first signing this would be. A well publicised long term target, one I've been very keen on and great value at £4m.

I think it's very important that we get someone who can replicate Duffy's style as closely as possible.

The 48 hours bit is interesting, that would be a very nice surprise. It's exactly the sort of deal we should be able to get done quickly though.

A £4m release clause is highly possible, as he signed a new contract shortly after they rejected bids for him.

The 48 hours part is what confuses me. Not many deals in general get done over a weekend... I don't recall us making any signings over a weekend.

Good signing at a good price if true though.

Maybe thats when he gets back off holiday? Agents and clubs do the talking, Freemans in touch by phone, flies home, straight up here to meet Wilder, dot the I’s and do the medical.

Freeman back from holiday?
No negotiating due to release clause?
Freeman would jump at a PL move and is unlikely to have another option.
Wages shouldn't be an issue.

So I could see it getting done quickly, if not quite the next 48 hours.

Haha - it's been done successfully before. Only difference this time is we have midfielders that can play a bit.
