Nixon says the bid should be in by tomorrow and Gage on Twitter says somethings happening Monday.

Soooooo, I expect nothing tomorrow other than me getting a bollocking for checking my phone too much at work.

Also, would've hoped Richard Cadette or S4 might've posted somat to say it's happening, but nowt to report to date. Interested, yes, but we seem to be interested in half the league atm.

probably a software engineer or some such nonsense ;)
I know it's not politically correct to refer to people as "gays" or things like that anymore, but you didn't have to be quite so harsh!!

It could be the same disease Micheal Jackson had, hence the glove!??

Rumour mill may as well close now if its reight. That's all the budget gone and its gonna be a long drag to start of season now ffs

Nah, there'll be a frenzy of piranha like proportion bemoaning such spendthrift -ery & speculating who we'll (have to) flog (first) to finance such extravagance

I think from piecing together the bits of info we’ve had on here that the shirt sponsor is some Chinese Finance Company with a Union Jack Flag within its logo. Kevin Gage was referring to something kit related being announced tomorrow, so I presume it’s this.

I would prefer Jarrod Bowen to Luke Freeman. But would prefer both to Bradley Dack. All three would improve us in an area that we need to improve in though. As always, we can’t expect Duffy to play every game.

The sun said in 48 hours......

Let’s see tomorrow.

He should be playing very few, if any, games. We’re in the Premier League now. Same goes for Sharp. Sorry Bladey Blades, it’s time to move on. Survival, not sentiment.

Christ, you've not even seen them play in the Premier League with us. Both have been written off at various times over the past couple of years - Sharp when we first went into the Championship, Duffy's supposedly needed replacing the last two years - and proved everyone wrong. Ridiculous you'll still see views like the above spouted before they've even had a chance.

Yes, who cares if we’re relegated as long as Bladey favourites ‘get a chance’. Givemarun. Sunday League thinking, S2 style.

To be fair, Duffy does need a replacement. Wilder seemed to want to rotate him more last year and he made 36 appearances. His role will be twice as hard next year with probably more defensive duties. One of my favorite players of the Wilder era but it’s obvious we should look for better ( in a difficult position to fill) whilst our stock is high.

Edit- just better add that I’m not saying he won’t have a big part to play.

Maybe, and like I said earlier in the thread [as I have numerous times before on here] I really hope we sign this lad. I have wanted us to for ages.

I just think that geography and relocation can play a significant part in players choosing whether or not to move. He may well jump at the chance to move up north if it gives him PL football. Or he may welcome the interest and hang on to see if a Palace or Watford [for instance] get wind and fancy a punt on him. He may also be very happy living in West London as an already wealthy young man. He may be settled with a partner, or not want to move too far from family.

Hopefully we can lure him, because I think this lad is a baller and would absolutely thrive with us. Just have a feeling we won't though, but would love to be proven wrong.

27 years old. Hardly been hiding, yet this ‘baller’ (grotesque term) has, amazingly, attracted no prior interest from Premier League clubs? How very odd...

So if Burnley for example now came in for him their fans could take comfort from knowing Freeman had previous Premier League interest in him?

Previous PL interest has very little significance.

We need to take a gamble on these types of players, that's the pool we are in. Many examples of players of that age and history stepping up and doing well in the top flight.

You clearly don't have faith in the team that defied all odds to be promoted, to survive in the Premier league?
You could be right of course, but under Chris Wilder, anything is possible.!
I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility of Billy scoring 12-15 Premier league goals.

Of course, the converse of Bladey Bladeness is Piggy Pigness... and they've been wrong about Billy these last couple of seasons and about his ability to step up too.

Apart from Arsenal, of course, who signed him from Gillingham, and had him for 4 years, letting him go at aged 20.

I don't disagree. I do disagree with Pinchy saying that he - and Sharp - "should be playing very few, if any, games".

It’s not always about what they have done to date, but also past decisions that may have come back to haunt them.
I’m sure when he went to QPR there were thoughts they might get into the premier league! They we possibly offering the one if contract that was life changing and set him up for life, and he chose that option at the time than the option that might have been best for him longer term.

However, most crucially it’s about where he fits into a team to get his best from him. Other premier league sides might not have seen him fitting into their system, and so picked other targets.
But one thing is for sure he has ability and some serious quality. He just needs to find a system that suits him and a manager who can get the best from him.
That could be us.

I'm pretty sure that you said Sharp was past it last season.

I see that the annual summer time being dismissive of all things Billy Sharp shows no signs of abating !

Just curious as to just exactly how many custard pies will it actually take for folks to admit they might, just maybe, have been wrong all along ?;)

Yeah my mistake, he's shit really. Must be why we are [allegedly] chucking 4M at him.

Thing is, Pinchy has a point in that Freeman has never openly been the interest of other Premier League clubs and this would flag a minor 'issue' - but to dismiss the signing solely on this bases is very narrow minded.

Freeman has consistency been the best, or one of the best, players at his clubs for the last 7/8 years. He plays a role that is ideal to our system - would be expected to fit in with a minimum 'settling in' period.

CWAK have only been able to spend significant (to us) money twice (Egan/Norwood) and look how those turned out. Freeman for me has always shown class and I think a step up would bring out even more in him.

[FREEMAN POST]

We might be in the PL now, but Wilder won't take spending £4m lightly. £4m is still £4m. The only other time he spent anything like that was on Egan - someone he must have been supremely confident in, and we know how well that turned out. So he must have a high level of confidence in Freeman too. Don't expect him to be some Holmes-like bit part player if he signs.

I thought that he had a buy out clause in his contract setting the fee around the figure quoted...perhaps that was just bollox then.

I like him as a player but i think we should offer them a take it or leave it price...and then see whether the player and agent are happy to stay at QPR... and lose the chamce of playing in the premier league....lets play the game just like others have done to us in the past.
