Sportpesa replacing Chang on Everton's kits next season.

Yep.

West Brom have changed to a Chinese landscaping company though so at present, we're still at the same number. Be interesting to see come August when all new shirts are out.

At the risk of sounding racist (because what isn't these days?) whenever I see a Chinese sponsor I think it's a betting company because there are so many Chinese betting companies sponsoring English clubs.

Who's it going to be for us, then? Coral? Paddypower? Jackpot Joy? Mecca Bingo?

Better not be Paddy Power. Imagine that.

The good thing with Bet365, if it is them is that they don't insist on their Green/Yellow colours being present in the logo.. Well, not on Stoke's kit anyway.

I detest all the online betting companies because they make money out of other people's misery. I can't understand why it's even legal; when I was a CAB worker a few centuries ago gambling debts were not enforceable in law and I'd like to think that's still the case today.

If people want to go into the bookie's and have a bet that's one thing; being allowed (nay, encouraged) to gamble your house away over the phone is summat else entirely.

If a club can't be sponsored by a tobacco or pornography company I see no reason why they should be allowed to take money from online casinos. Stoke's sellout, in having Bet365 not only on their shirts but in the name of their stadium as well, must be just about the shoddiest in the history of British football.

Yeah, I'd pretty much agree with that. I've really never gotten on with online betting due to the fact that you have to deposit a tenner in order to bet (with the ones I've used anyway). If I have a flutter it's a couple of quid, so chucking a tenner encourages me to bet more than I normally would, hence pissing away £7 or £8 more than I usually would.

Plus I like using the dinky little pens and filling the slip in.

However, I've known people who end up scrounging money off their nan because they've pissed wages up the wall on betting (when they really don't earn the wages to be betting in the first place). People sat on their laptop placing in-play bets on the basketball, when they know fuck all about basketball. The fact you can wake up, pick your phone up and chuck £200 on a spin of an online slot without even getting out of bed, is frightening.

Yet every time you stick SkySports on to watch a match, betting is rammed down our throats. The telly ads especially make it look super cool and like it's something that all of us should definitely be doing.

Maybe we should close all pubs too as they prey on peoples alcoholism, close supermarkets as they sell cigarettes that cause cancer and kill people etc etc..... (you can also buy alcohol and cigarettes online...... )

Gambling debts dont exist any more except on a very small scale, credit accounts used to be the norm and were not enforceable by law however the gambling commission changed all of that.

Also, the people who own stoke, are the people who own Bet365 (Coates family) so hardly shoddy, just the owner promoting his other business' - The asian betting companies sponsor in the premier league and championship because of the sheer amount of TV time the leagues get over there, they dont care about the UK impact or advertising, some of the sites you probably cant even access / bet on from the UK.

If it is a betting company we are been sponsored by, be interesting to see who it is, we had an association previously with 188bet and I think Unibet run the betting offices inside the ground now but they were bought by PaddyPower, Possibly Genting?

OK, I don't bet at all. So is it alright for me to say it's a mugs' game that makes money from the weakness of vulnerable people?

And the Coates family are from the city of.... Stoke !

Rich fans sponsoring their own club, oh the absolute horror

We've been sponsored by betting companies previously. Nobody seemed bothered then.

2012/13 - Redtooth
2013/14 - Vsportsgames.com - jesus that's the worst of the lot, that company is purely Virtual Sports betting

Not to forget HFS Loans. That's a gamble in its self.

edit - Vsoft aren't actually a betting company. They make the games for betting sites to use - http://vsportsgames.com/

Out if interest why tacky and why controversial? Last time I looked gambling is perfectly legal and whether you like it or not a major part of the British culture since the dawn of time is having a flutter.

Perfectly understand those points LDB. But my reasons about it being tacky is that the betting sponsors I've seen (mostly Prem sides) don't fit in with the club colours/design. I reference Newcastle's new kit as an example.

Controversial; more on an ethically perspective. There's much research involved in links between mental health and gambling addiction. I think UK football is saturated with gambling company's involvement. You see betting adverts during the day not 'after the watershed' although I know that may be changing anyway. It's exposure is at a dangerous level imo. And us being sponsored would perpetuate that thought.

Yes of course it's perfectly legal but if adverts each and every second has a Ray Winstone equivalent telling people to go drink constantly I think they'd be cause for concern. I think that way regarding the promotion of gambling and it's dominance within football.

Hope that helps clarify my point! :)

Exactly, I like a drink but I would have concerns if it suddenly became acceptable for alcohol companies to bombard you with messages 24 hours a day telling you to get pissed immediately and shops/boozers were free to carry on serving you long after it is responsible to do so and once you'd lost the ability to order a drink and tip it into your mouth they'd prop you up in in a corner, get a funnel and keep pouring it down your neck until you pass out/die/your card gets declined.

I imagine Coca Cola would look shit on a Wednesday shirt but it could hardly be classed as tacky.

The Alpharooms sponsorship deal was announced as a three year deal when it as unveiled at the start of last season.

Point out where I've said this.

A £2 acca once every 6 weeks is hardly breaking the bank.

The fuck is wrong with the dinky pens? :D

My bad Tom it was vegan who mentioned tacky which he has answered above (we shall agree to disagree !) But you did agree with another post who mentioned praying on peoples misery. Again I think we shall agree to disagree ;)

No worries fella!

I said 'pretty much agree' because I agreed with the general sentiment of the post. I'm unsure about it praying on misery per se, but I do think they hammer it home that betting is a fun thing to do all the time and that a barrage of betting ads does get to people.

You don't have to be depressed or miserable to flutter a shitload of cash away on daft bets. I've seen it happen.

Southampton have gone back to the early 80's. Time for a relaunch of the Ajax Hobbott kit?

No!

I would love the Blades to go back to having the Sheffield coat of arms on our shirts.
