Wilder as Director of Football. You'd trust him with scouting, recruitment and spending money? That's a punchline to a bad joke. Every player he has signed for money, except Ramsdale, left for nothing or a loss. He is the last person I'd ever consider for DoF.
You know, what you’re probably right!

I was just putting a hypothesis out there. I’m more on the side of a fresh start too, but I just don’t trust our owners and CEO to manage that process well.

Too early in the season to sack him, in my opinion. I don't think the squad is as good as you're suggesting but midtable, yes.

Let's see what he can do in the games after the international break. But something needs to change sharpish because at the moment it feels like a relegation season.
I agree but Stoke suddenly grows in importance.
If we don’t pick owt up it’s a long break.

I can't imagine good managers queuing up to work for these owners, especially after hearing about possible points deductions etc. I think it'll have to be someone completely unproven (Phil Jones?) or someone whose stock has sufficiently fallen that we're currently the best they can do.

Basically, what I'm saying is we'll end up with Steven Gerrard. Steve Cooper has failed in his last two jobs so he's a maybe, I suppose.

Way way out of order saying that, ive been going home & away for 60 odd year's and its fucking hurting watching my club implode! At the top and right through the club including the manager and the recruitment team, its quite obvious to me we need a clear out right throughout the club, we're stuck in the 80s poor signings + poor tactics are making us a laughing stock! And now Wilder as a swipe at certain player's, which in the end could be his downfall! Sorry im fucking fuming at my club watching the desent.
He's correct. Might not be you but there are people on here absolutely loving it. The difference in energy from when we won at Blackburn is mental.

Keane, Challinor, Cooper, Edwards or Pereira as a wildcard option for me. Every single one of those managers does better.
Edwards would probably be a good fit, although he does seem to jump ship as soon as he can. But his stock is probably low enough now that we could get him.

Brian Barry-Murphy is an interesting one I wouldn’t be against. Promoted last season with Cardiff scoring 90 goals, working with some young players there. Previously in the Man City youth setup so will hopefully be better at developing younger players & have decent connections for loans. Probably not the right fit with this squad because of our OAP recruitment but one I’d keep an eye on for next season if Wilder sees this one out and those contracts expire.

Granted Cardiff haven’t started the best this season but I don’t think their squad is the best. They were very unlucky not to blow us away and played some nice stuff (the Selles factor our owners might go for!).

I see Bielsa on that list - imagine him trying to get Jairo, Rothwell & Ayew pressing the life out of the opposition!
Bielsa would take one long at the lack of quality and imbalance in our squad and say no thanks. He also won't work for a club unwilling to pay fees for players.

If we're thinking if new managers others than those already mentioned we've got to include McKenna who's on a break atm nd if we are looking at managers currently employed at other clubs Mousinho has to be on that list too imo

Why the fuck would McKenna leave promoted Ipswich to drop back down

Let's at least try and be realistic

He’s unemployed. He left Ipswich.

When he does return to work though he’s got big parachute club written all over him.

Cardiff played some really good front foot football id take a gamble on him with the right players and formation he will take a club up

With the correct assurances from our ownership some potential managers would prefer a job where they can start from scratch with a potential to run a club the way that they want to

It's very obviously the case

I'm not necessarily condemning it either, just observing, and I understand, because I've been there too when you want a manager out and the tide finally turns and you can see the end in sight

It's clearly quite cathartic for a lot of people on here. It's exciting!

I'd just say, it can always get worse, and usually does at this club. And that if people expect a league cup game to be significant in determining Wilder's future, they'll likely be mistaken because they always prove to be meaningless

I hope Wilder can last the season, keep us out of trouble, and leave respectfully with his head held high. It's a write off this year no matter what

I think Wilder might walk away after Stoke and Lincoln games if things don't improve. It's the same scenario as the 2nd season in the prem. He realised the quality of players weren't up to it. It was making him ill. This is the same situation except with more inferior players than then

Issue is, he can't say it's the players fault when it's his players

Not really taken any notice of this thread until today. Have always disliked the merry go round of managers and the
' hire 'em, fire'em' mentality.
I've always liked continuity - Liverpool under Shankly and Paisley springs to mind - but enough is enough.
Reluctantly I have concluded it is time for a change. He's lost a lot of the fans and with his post match comments some of the players as well.
Feel sad because him being a fan of the club seems to make it increasingly difficult for him to cope with it. Throwing a tantrum (rushing off down the tunnel at the end) should be done in private.

I'm not sure he'll go, he hasn't the self reflection or realisation, if he had he'd never have come back after being sacked. As I've said in another post, if anyone in the club is advising him he's not listening. Remember MK1 version, I'll treat the clubs money like it's my own, well, maybe he is and he'll sit tight for the payoff. If he is such a fanboy surely he knows the gigs up. What he does next, resign or hang on, will be his residing memory now, unfortunately as his earlier success will be tainted forever.

When Ahmedhodzic went off Souza dropped to centre back in his place to cover the hole and Kieffer moore dropped in to cover souza until a change was made. positioning wasn't the problem. The missing player at the time was the striker. we were in posession. your reduce the likelihood of scoring but defensively there was a man in every position.

The problem was an error and in the moment a manager cannot correct that.
I'm not sure you meant to quote me there?

Who's fault is it if players only turn up for 1 game a week of 2 games?

The whole thing about successful football is consistency.

If all our players were consistently good they would have cost/be worth 15/30 million.

We may not like these signings. They may be unimaginative. They may not even do the job they were brought into do. But the budget is low, the clubs clearly in a total mess. Cant our fans see this! I'll stop now as I know I'm repeating myself but nothing has changed from the mess we're in.

These weekly wage figures are off Capology so not 100% accurate but won't be far off.

Doherty - £55k
Choudhury - £50k
Phillips - £50k
BBD - £35k
Riedewald - £25k
Kitching - £18k
Donovan - £10k

That's £243k a week in wages on our summer signings and more than likely loan fees on top for the loanees.

Are we seriously saying we couldn't have found better RB's than Doherty and Hamza with £105k a week to play with?

Looking at what we're paying Donovan compared to BBD are we saying we couldn't have a Donovan equivalent for the left hand side?

It becomes an issue when the tactics that theyre playing week in week out clearly don't work

Then factor in the fact that you get a good performance out a team playing 532 and then immediately revert back to what doesn't work, that can't fall on the players

ive a feeling phil jones is just waiting in the wings to take over and didnt he play in the same team as carrick who is also possibly 3 games away from the sack ? other candidate for me would be rob edwards

It maybe Collins who moves up, all speculation of course but throwing Jones in at the deep end would give off Martin Peters vibes 🥺

Wilder has virtually welded himself into the position by assembling his squad. What replacement with any ambition would want to take on that load of unmotivated aging crocks? Seriously.
