Adkins will start winning over fans , when we are consistent in winning football matches . At this moment us fans have no idea if we will win , lose or draw whoever we are playing be it top or bottom of the league. The frustration for me is Adkins appears to be exactly the same as us .

His interviews to me are becoming one dimensional and sometimes desperate IMO. In saying that we have to stick with him as we have no infrastructure policy were you can change managers numerous times in a season and still be successful as per Watford.

To me we are set up as a team to avoid relegation not promotion , but as Adkins says , what do us fans know.

I like him, if we knew when teams would win, lose or draw we'd all be millionaires and Paddy Power would have to go and find a proper job.

Yeah we'd love to be top of the league, having hoovered up all of the division's best talent, and every home game should be like a 90 minute party, but it isn't. It's shite, and from what I've seen the best person for the job to deal with this shite is Nigel Adkins.

Unfortunately, you are right Lord Bos - The crew that is currently running the show are a sorry lot ! - As nice as Mr Phipps comes over he is presiding over a set of clowns who have little or no idea of the way forward !
I would prefer Mr Adkins and the players to keep it buttoned and concentrate on getting it right on the field !
For some reason the players have to keep coming out in the media that the squad is the best in the league and things are coming together - it doesn't appear like that to me !
We appear to be worse off than we were this time last year but hey we grabbed a last minute winner at lowly Colchester last week - perhaps that is the turning point !

There is an old saying Mr Pete Blade, 'You are as good as your last job' unfortunately, that was Reading, not Scunthorpe or Southampton !

Interestingly NA win percentage at Reading was slightly better than Steve Clarke who followed him.

Adkins hasn't even had 12 months with us, just over half a season.

Everyone knows the squad he inherited was bloated and overpaid in a lot of parts, which has restricted what he has been able to do. Its worth pointing our that this squad for the most has been stuck in the league for a significant length of time.

I am not saying he has got every decision right, and that there haven't been mistakes along the way. But to write a manager off before hes even done a full season is ridiculous.

By all means judge Adkins at the back end of next season. If we are still in League 1, then by anyone's standards he will have failed. First, lets see what happens this year come May, and then if we are still in this godforsaken league then what happens in the summer when the deadwood can be shipped out!

Since he has been at the Lane Mr Adkins has come out with so many 'statements' the majority of them being 'Total Bollocks' !
  • His interviews say nothing of any substance despite WHF 'fawning' over his every word he seems to utter!
  • Always coming out with 'Manager Speak' when a few home truths would be more beneficial
  • His record is no better than the previous regime
  • He states that most Blades fans don't understand the footballing skills of his pet player Dean Hammond
  • The squad is not good enough to win promotion
  • The team will finish top of the league
  • The team work well in training despite them appearing to 'Not have a clue what to do with throw ins and free kicks in a match situation' !
His recruitment policy is flawed if Woolford, Sammon Edgar and Hammond are the best he can come up with - I take Sharp out of the equation as he is running his blood to water for the club !

Sorry, Mr Adkins - You have flattered to deceive - Perhaps Reading was a far better barometer to your skills that Scunthorpe and Southampton appear to have been !

I think they have worked on their throw ins Fiery. The player taking the throw, slowly picks up the ball and, waits for the opposition to mark all our players up. They in turn stand there hoping that the ball isn't thrown to them, requiring them to take some responsibility.

Strange, after Port Vale away he said we'd finish top of the league.

He said no such thing. No manager with any sense would and Nigel Adkins, unlike the majority of United fans, has a great deal.

Making things up - It's the Bladesfans' Way.

He did when questioned where will we finish he replied....

Dig back through WHF posts

Before my last post got swallowed up in a"domestic."
How much dross would we really need to offload, before Adkin can go out shopping again?

There's at least twelve players on the books who are 'never played/players', or way above their ability level, even Div 3. Quite what the payoff for contracts are we may never know. Gash signings = liabilities. 'Flick-ons', for one.

Higdon, Scougall, McGahey, Freeman, plus any young players not expected to make the grade, all need to go for me before Id be comfortable with looking at incomings.

Couldn't find where he said that - nearest thing he said after Vale is “You’’ll gather I’m trying to use my words sensibly because I’ve got to pick everyone up and get ready to go again. It turned on small margins, yes, but that is what the game is about, small margins. It’s very disappointing not to win a game of football that, for the first 15 minutes with the space between the lines, was all set-up for us to go and dominate. I’m here, it’s my responsibility. I want us to get promoted this season and promoted via the top two.”

Interview from that time (Notts County JPT preview) http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p034fccx is interesting - especially re the January transfer window comments.

I can see maybe two of that list going, not all of them, and that's not even mentioning the young pro's. It's why we'll only be able to bring in 1 or 2 players in, just as long as their quality than it will still make a difference.

Probably be about right that.

Any more that 2 out will be a bonus. Cant stress enough how important it is to trim this squad - its massively weighing the club down.

I'm just dreading the next week or so before deadline day. Fans on Twitter have already got my blood simmering with childish, mardy, rants about how we've not signed anyone.

Thing is, if we signed 4 players today, they would still moan if we don't sign anyone within the last 3 hours on deadline day.

NA made it perfectly clear the plan for this window, so everyone knows the score.

Probably not enough though. So forget about promotion this season. The owners are not prepared to inject the additional funds needed to get us promoted this season.

NA has said moves will be more likely towards the end of the window and there is over a week to go yet. No point buying anyone who won't improve the squad and getting rid of some of our surplus is not going to be easy after the way the team has played for all bar the last couple of weeks which have shown some improvement in attitude.

Can't we just take some of these players for a drive in the countryside, stop and throw a stick for them to chase and then drive off?

Couldn't find where he said that -

No, you wouldn't. Of course you wouldn't. He did not and would not have said anything so absurd. Nothing wrong with ambition and optimism such as "our aim is..." or "we are striving to.." but only a fool would say "we will win the league" and Nigel is no fool.

Bollocks like this is poisonous. If it gets repeated often enough people assume it's accurate and take digs at people for things they haven't said...

It's just the same with McCabe or Big Jim. Their expressions of intent are turned into "promises" and then "broken promises"....

Higdon would'nt be arsed to chase the stick.

McCleverly would mistime jumping for the stick and break it.

Scoogs would get tackled by a bush, fall over and injure himself.

Unfortunately they would find their way back - but more practically - we have plenty of cashflow from the ManUtd game to cover the cost of paying-off their contracts some of which are up in 5 short months anyway.

The SPMC/cashflow/wages/bloatedsquad groundhog soundbite is a bollocks smokescreen.

NA himself has said he's got £ to spend.

Let's hope he can do better than Martyn Bleeding Woolford , the worst "old pals act" I have ever seen.
