They didn't remove Wilder because he failed to get us promoted. They removed him because they want us to go up and stay up. They know he can get us up but his methods and tactics won't keep us up. They also want to modernise us and get us playing the modern way which will prepare us for life in the Premier League, so that needed a managerial change.

When they announced Selles as manager they said it's going to require patience whilst the changed needed are made, which suggested that they'll back him if we don't go up so long as they see progress on the pitch in the way we play, and improvement in the players. It's not all about results and the final league table.
La-la land. We're going to have a massively reduced budget if we don't go up this season, will have to sell more players and have less chance of competing with the big boys in our league nevermind the Prem.
The rest of football isn't sitting around doing nowt while we're putting together a special project to beat everyone else. Not how it works in the real world.

The squad is already top 4 calibre. Anything less than that is failure. If we strengthen with 2-3 we should be contesting the automatics.
Going down the loanee route isnt strengthening ,ie can be called back anytime
When i wrote that we hadnt bought or loaned ( still havent)
Hope you are right but sorry for now ill stick to my assessment
Not seen a game since the wembley debacle ,finding optimism difficult

Dunno how you've figured that. Last season had Rak-Sakyi , Souttar, Diaz (looked unfit but still scored a few) and Choudhury all loaned in and still only good enough for 3rd. This season we've only got Barry and Bindon in so far. Not sure we're top 6 at present.

Unfortunately some of our lot won't look at the big picture the bottom 3 who come from the prem are stronger than us plenty of championship clubs seem to be getting better players than us , not to mention the prized asset of hamer expe ted to leave in not now will be gone in January if we are not in the mistime will tell utb

For the second half of the season we didn’t have Souttar, BBD was shit and Rak Sakyi is no better than Brooks in my opinion. By the end of August I’d be very surprised if we are weaker than last season.

But do you currently consider us top 4 material?

Do you live in Skegness? If so, I can understand your negativity.

Raki Sakyi was way better than sideways backwards Brooks not saying he will be career wise but last season he was

I won't be happy if we are as weak as we were for the first half of last year in particular. By the time we got to Christmas we were running on fumes

Top four, really???? Unless there are some real quality additions to our squad, we will be lucky to make top six. Ipswich, Southampton, Birmingham, Norwich, Swansea, and I hate to say it, Wrexham, making astute signings. What do we do, sell Vini, now Moore to a rival in our league. IMHO we now need 2 RB, 2/3 CB, 1/2 CDM and a striker. Since the end of last season, five loans gone back, Vini, Moore and Brewster left, and just 1 loan in for the first team squad.

Vini wanted to leave. We had no choice on that.

Brewster wasn't worth keeping and where would he fit in? Third choice to Campbell and Cannon for the central striker spot? Third choice to Brooks and Ukaki on the right wing? How many goals/assists do you think he would have gotten this pre-season?

As for Moore. You only need to worry about him if you think he's going to be more effective for newly promoted Wrexham than he was for us in the automatic promotion hunt last season, but one year older. I've nothing against Moore, but I'm not that worried about what he will do at Wrexham.

How dare you

Sorry KMC, but promotion is the aim if for nothing more than the dosh they dish out.
Personally i don't see us going up. The way we are setting up leaves wide open and although we will win more than we lose we will get nowhere near last seasons total.
Wilder ahhht

Underwhelmed…But to be honest, since the Sunderland debacle I’ve tried my best to avoid anything football related. Yes, I’ve been posting on here but I’ve also had my tin hat on expecting the worst with the vultures circling…So far I feel we are relatively unscathed, although I think the team is slightly weaker than the one at Wembley. I’ve not been to any pre-season games or even watched them on the stream, but with lower expectations this season…I can’t wait to get back to my seat at the Lane on Saturday and be pleasantly surprised.

Tick tock, no new EXPERIENCED CB coming in and we’re STILL relying on bomb scare when setting up in a more attack minded approach, its like fixing one wheel put puncturing another……..

Selles has to sort out the defence or we’re not doing anything again this season.

I always want us to win, but a few goals against should ram this issues home hopefully in time to get it sorted.

Gotta confess I’ve struggled for any sort of enthusiasm since the play off defeat ..hoping Saturday will bring back the spark ⚔️

I'm feeling very confident. We'll probably win most games 4-3 but 3 points is 3 points.

I'm also slightly annoyed that I'll be back in Sheff for a week during the international break (Sep 5 - Sep 11 if anyone fancies a beer) so won't get to see a game. And I've got tickets for the Oval when we're away at Boro so can't even watch in a pub.

Ipswich champions, Blades or Birmingham second.
