Hi Stegosaurus here

Shame we'll probably sell for two bob and a horse shit sandwich.

Think I read somewhere (probably on here) that because we hadn’t got a cat 1 academy, we’re only allowed to play the lower grade academies, which means the standard of opposition is lower. Is there a danger that scoring records are being inflated due to the quality of the opposition?

Deffo the case. They're levels above the standard they're playing at unfortunately

There are 26 Cat 1 Academies who play in the Premier League 2.
We are one of 21 Cat 2 Academies who play in the Professional Development League.
So, we are not playing at the top level. And, of course, we're not "the best team" in the Professional Development League anyway. We've never won it for example.

Here are recent winners

No, but we have won our division three years in a row now. Last year by 18 points.

Even though we haven't won the play-off against the other group winners in that time, it's fair to say we're one of the best/the best team at this level.

Ryan one doesn't turn 18 until June. Already looks a physical unit which some younger players lack and seen he has good feet too on various clips. National League loans are open still for the likes of Hackford right?

Don't be fooled, the standard is shocking
Hackford, probably National league quality IMO is being made to look promising
Marsh could be the one, like him a lot
And although out at Vale at the mo Arblaster is going to be a top player
Barnsley next week is a real test
Let's see how Hackford does there!

Osula
Jebbison
Marsh
One
Hackford

Not a bad list is it? Obviously the level is a lot lower but when any of these start in the u21's they score for fun.

McBurnie, Traore, Brewster and Archer (?) next season with these five in the championship (?) then we have some serious options.

Be interesting to see who has the better career. Very promising.

Also serves to highlight the point of how few go on to make it at a high level and for United too.

Plenty of those we may have been excited about 5 years ago would now be forging careers in non-league and League Two.

‘Tis a cautionary tale of the challenges faced by these young men to ‘make it’ at the Blades, only made even harder through promotion to a higher league.

Joe Ironside is doing well at Donny this season 12 in 19 games. Looked like he might have made it if he actually could put the ball in the net

You only need to look at where lots of United's recent standout players started (in England) to see how difficult it is to 'make it' at the level of club you play your junior football at

Don’t want to be pedantic but there is a few there that’s not correct. For instance Trusty was 22 and with a few years of MLS before Arsenal signed him.

Andre Brooks has never been at Man City and has been at our academy since a very young age.

Osula has never been involved with Man Utd. He once won a soccer skills competition in Denmark and was invited to old Trafford with kids from all over as a prize but was never signed with them.

Ironside is very much a case of a striker finding his level. He's never played higher than League One.

13/14 National League (Tier 5) 2 in 10
14/15 National League (Tier 5) 4 in 29
15/16 National League North (Tier 6) 4 in 30
16/17 National League North (Tier 6) 20 in 40
17/18 National League North (Tier 6) 19 in 38
18/19 National League North (Tier 6) 17 in 44
19/20 League Two (Tier 4) 6 in 33
20/21 League Two (Tier 4) 14 in 44
21/22 League One (Tier 3) 14 in 38
22/23 League One (Tier 3) 6 in 43
23/24* League Two (Tier 4) 8 in 19

Be as pedantic as is required. The younger players was more from anecdotal evidence than being able to research anything

But I did say "first English club". I know Trusty, Stevens, Egan were at other clubs first
