Just wondering what people think our transfer budget is for this season I was thinking 1 to 1.5 million just interested to see what others think it is. (I haven't finally lost it have I ??)

I was thinking transfer fees alone as I hope our wage bill is vastly reducedI've always wondered whether the notional 'transfer budget' is purely for fees, ie transfer fees and signing on fees or does it include wages? Or, is there a separate budget for wages so if we are over spending on wages, we can't really sign anyone even if there is a notional 'transfer budget' available?
The latter shouldn't be a problem now that we've let go nearly all the squad!

I think we need 2cb 2 cm 1 direct winger 1 target man 1 gk that's seven few freebies 4 signings between 250k- 350k with the right signings that should see us up thereDepends how you break it down.
The wage budget is the biggest issue. If it's close to last season's, we should be able to amass a squad capable of challenging. If not, it will be a struggle.
As for fees. I can't see us spending any significant sums unless we generate it by selling Brayford or Adams.
That's what I meant my first op should have been worded betterThe transfer budget and wage budget are the same thing essentially. The money we will have to spend fees will depend the wages of potential incoming and clearance of transfer listed players.
If the question read "how much will we spend on transfer fees for new players" I would suspect less than £1m but I'd be guessing

We won't sell Brayford or Adams.
We aren't a selling club between the last week of the season and the week just before the beginning of the new one. We tend to keep hold of our key playing assets, rejecting any offers outright until enough fans have renewed season tickets and bought shirts etc. then its sell! sell! sell!

Wage budget....£5m.....transfer budget zero....unless we sell someone.
Then, half whatever fees we can bring in.

Who are we kidding? If a player is any good it won't just be us who's in for him, there will be other clubs and we either match their offer or it's no deal. Simple market forces. If I go into Tesco and say 'I'm not paying £5 for a steak' they'll tell me 'that's the price, pay it if you want the steak' they won't say 'OK, it's the last one and three other people want it but we'll let you take it for £3'.I prefer the transfer budget to be confidential and the SP out of the club is that we have a small budget and austerity measures are in place .
Bigger known budget , higher transfer fees other clubs try and sting us for. Bit of kidology is required for once.

A £5m wage budget is plenty, but allowing nothing to be spent in fees really would seem utterly ridiculous considering how short we are.
The club spend £2m on a right back then fast forward 18 months and they won't spend a penny when half of that £2m in fees in addition to the wage budget would probably get us promoted. Same as every other season - unwilling to spend that little bit more to get success.
Just got to hope that's not true. The links to Holmes and Smith seem strong so there's reason to be hopeful.

No, it was more than that.Brayford didn't cost £2 million
No, it was more than that.
That's the post you should have written in the first place. Then I wouldn't have to be so facetious. If you look at the accounts and the seasons acquisitions in 2014/2015 that's highly unlikely.
If, as I've seen before his wages for a season are included in that - then as his salary is in the budget and is therefore being counted twice.
There were quite a few acquisitions in that year and although some were free transfers, signing on fees - (and key football management personnel I understand) would be added to additions to player registrations.
We have a generous board, true they are shite , or have been at appointing managers, but they always seem prepared to cough up if theres a need
I can see us selling several players and then gainfully paying out just enough to give us some momentum .
Been a while since I truly believed in our chances, of automatic , could see us bagging a play off spot , but think with Chris the bars been raised
Wouldn't surprise me if we get between 85 and 98 points if the personnel are found, the infra structure will be in place , , just need the personnel to fill the places, and I have faith that Chris willl find sufficient bodies for the task at hand, unlike nIge , who sort of lost his focus
