More from Sheffield manager Chris Wilder speaking on Sky Sports on goal scorer Ben Brereton Diaz:

"I've known Ben for a long time and I know what his qualities are and what his character's like. He started as a centre-forward in the early part of his career when he got his move to Blackburn and I've tracked his career all the way through. There was a lot of clubs in the division that were after him and we're delighted that he chose us.

"As we all know straight away not everybody hits the ground running. Not any player, whatever division they are and sometimes to get themselves going but that will do him no harm.

I thought the performance from the two at the top of the pitch was really good, especially in the first half. They linked well, stretched well and I think the better team won the game of football."

Deserved the 3 points, and performance 1st half was really good...Peck Phillips,Ayew and Donovan were the stand out's for me,and i''d add Kitching at the back,he plays some great forward passes..Coops solid as usual, not had to make any worldies, but handling and kicking was top class, and nearly had an assist if Ayew could have got his shot away.

Enjoyed that, a deserved 3 points after a good first half and professional second half.

They were awful, whoever their fitness coach is needs sacking. They made us look like a squad of svelte athletes.

Oh for fuck sake. I selected him. I’m right, you’re all wrong. Well you tool, why, when he’s a centre forward did you play him as a winger on the wrong wing. Bloke just trots out shit.

On the first half we deserved it .. second half we made hard work of a basic Wrexham side.

First half showed just how much we lack that creativity and killer edge and that’s on the owners because the performance was good.

Donovan has proved he’s a starter , Phillips was good some times too slow on the ball but that will keep getting better and better.

BBD did nothing apart from score (important I know)

Ayew looked decent apart from inside 18 yard box but good control and best touches in the main.

Burrows was good too very influential going forward particularly first half.

Chong is a terrible footballer just nothing about him at all.
I thought BBD was good, his best performance of the season. Obviously better for him up top rather than on the wing.

Pretty good performance that. Did the job against very poor opposition.
If I were Wrexham, I would be very worried about relegation. I doubt we’ll see three worse teams come to the Lane this season.

great win, great performance. i want to see more of that & i can start believing in this team

wrexham were terrifed of donavon & rightfully. Kalvin Phillips was looking good. hopefully he getting close to the guy that started the euro 2020/21 final

Ayew controlling touch & shot was quality. & i do wonder if BBD was being played in the wrong position because i always said he looked a class above in the Premier League centrally & yet a class below in championship on the wing

It's difficult for Campbell to run with half a kilo of jam roly poly and custard sitting in his gut
Seriously I don't think it's his gut.
He runs like a waddling duck - there's no syncopation in his body and his arms are held tight to his chest.
Looks like he's either shit his shorts or his lower back is painful and it's been medically immobilised.

Runs like he's got a turd stuck

He runs like a waddling duck as hes afraid of pinging a hamstring. Top class sprinters thighs reach 90° when at max velocity however the higher your knees go the more pressure it puts on your hamstring as your foot extends out. Hence he has very little knee lift and basically runs almost straight legged

Big improvement from most of the team today. Even players I'm normally not a fan of like Ayew and Diaz seemed to put a lot more into it today, just a shame that Ayew hasn't got the legs for a full match but he still played pretty well.

Hamza is still wank though, aside from one good header.

Also glad to see Moore was as useless for them tonight as he was for us with his inability to control his gangly giraffe legs.

Decent game that. Should really have been out of sight by half time. They were fucking shite.

Big games for Ayew, BBD, Peck and BBD.
Phillips was superb again and we look so much better with him in the side.

Donovan as hoped and anticipated was a joy to watch.

I don’t want to jump on the Campbell bandwagon as I like the guy and he was great in his first season…. But fuck me he didn’t look arsed when he came on. All he had to do was close down for 10 minutes and run about a bit.

On the whole a good team performance, in truth they never looked coming close to scoring.

If we had come out of the blocks against Derby like that, we would have easily beaten them also.

Have to admit I didn't notice Campbell was on.

Enjoying the weekend already, a win and a pretty decent performance.
A shorter match thread because the begrudging detractors are too busy sharpening their online pencils in readiness for the next gripe at selection/performance/tactics/presser or their miserable inability to be proven right.
As ever utb

Best place for BBD is like this. Fantastic from Ayew behind, really what we needed. Then gets a spot for Donovan.
Along with others, I've completely flipped opinion on Ayew he's quickly built himself up to speed.
Also, so it's is possible to get three wingers on the pitch! Fair play for dropping the stubborn stuff CW.
Good night out. What we needed.

What a load of baloney.
People who love & support are perfectly entitled to ask for better decisions from the manager and performances from the team.
Sir Christopher heard what he arrogantly refers to as "noise from playstation managers" ,
Followed it ,
And hey presto , a performance that was 1000 times better than last week ,
Despite Bamford being unavailable.

Pressed wrong button and gave you a like, sorry CW and the lads have screwed your weekend up.
Call Aston max and 54yr old blade up and go for a beer and all cry into it together.

I think using the words “Ayew”and “speed”in the same phrase is novel ! When put through by Cooper he lacked………..

Up to speed , turn of phrase, got himself up to match fitness.
He was great last night, he won't be the fastest at 40 years old, but gave us an extra edge.
